  1. What is that suppose to mean? Maybe this will help. http://www.wordspy.com/words/drinktheKool-Aid.asp
  2. Wow, Someone is drinking the Kool Aid I'm real curious to know what company they work for. It's certainly not in the USA. This link has fairly accurate pay scales for most of the industry.Though I hate the name of the web site. Multiply the hourly rate by a thousand to get the maximum annual salary for a very hard working pilot. http://www.willflyforfood.cc/Payscales/PayScales.htm
  3. He's not a brain surgeon and neither are you. Not even Mike Mullins King air can average five loads per hour. Two and a half loads an hour would be about right.
  4. Most people will start with the regionals at somewhere around 30k and go up slowly from there. What airline pays $350k? What regional starts out at $30k ? Someone's been watching to many fox news stories about greedy overpaid airline pilots. This video shows the reality of an airline career. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RayMaswju1A[email]
  5. I believe a measure of a man's life is the number of friends who grieve your passing and many people are grieving today. We lost a good friend on saturday. Johnny Gates was a genuinely good person. . Learn from his lesson to not take yourself or life too seriously. Remember his admonition to love one another and look out for one another. Johnny had a great life and died while doing what he loved. Rest in peace old friend. We will miss you.
  6. Here is her web page. www.jumpjax.com/
  7. Packing Cathy's drop zone. The Jumping place did move from Fernandina Beach Fl to St Marys Ga. www.jumpjax.com/
  8. Q;Can you pilot a jump plane with just a private pilot certificate? A; YES Q; Can you pilot a jump plane with just a PPL if you are being compensated? A; No Q; Can you pilot a jump plane that is being operated for compensation with just a PPL? A; No I figured someone had to answer the poor guys question properly.
  9. A fly in bed and breakfast that's also a drop zone? Yes, It's for real. Ash and Celeine run this charming facility which is right on the Pensylvania New York border just east of Olean NY. You cross the border into Pensylvania as you drive in the driveway. Ash is a tandem instructor and offers tandem jumps from a Cessna 182. Celeine runs the bed and breakfast. A great place to introduce your significant other to jumping while spending a romantic weekend. Want to start a family? Book the fertility room. It's been proven to work. If you are in the area you won't want to miss is the anual one day boogie that they put on in early august featuring a turbine, pig roast and a great band. The locals can't beleive this is happening in their town. Great scenery Great vibes.
  10. Yes,It's true. Cathy Kloess aka Packing Cathy owner operator of The Packing Place is now a drop zone operator as well. The Jumping Place http://www.JumpJax.com is located in St Mary's GA just north of Jacksonville FL. Anyone who has met Cathy knows her energy and enthusiasim are infectious and she spreads that energy and enthusiasim around her DZ. Cathy is well connected in the sport and she has surrounded herself with a top notch staff. Like USPA director and former president George H W Bush's instructor Glen Bangs for example. If you are a student looking for top notch instruction and a lot of attention you will find it here. Air support is just cessna for now but their are rumors of a turbine coming soon. It's easy to find just north of the Florida state line. From I 75 take route 40 about 7 mile east to St Mary's airport.

  14. That video was played for days afterward on CNN. The american public is fascinated by that stuff. "See Martha, I told ya, The wings can fall right off them little airplanes" The pilot was Wes Winter. A well known airshow performer at the time. Richard Collins of Flying magazine wrote an Aftermath column about the crash. Exploring the psychology of how the pilot became comfortable with operating the A/C right up to it's ultimate load limits.
  15. Yup, Dubya is a liar and a cheat who can't be trusted. What else is new?
  16. Dornier 328 jet for sale cheap! Only 3.7 million http://www.controller.com/listings/forsale/detail.asp?OHID=1093876&guid=A04AD4608C4C40BC8B1E42A978412F45 Someone go tell Don to get his checkbbook.
  17. The Dash 8 100 is just a big twin otter. Not much larger than the Dornier [37 versus 33 passengers] and it has smaller engines. It would make a great jump ship but no big attraction.
  18. I'd guestimate total operating cost for the 328TP at around $1800 per hour The jet would be somewhat higher due to fuel burn and the fact they cost about 4 million more. You don't have to buy one. Just convince the leasing company to give you a per hour rate for 10 days or so during the convention rather than let the thing sit in the desert. Don Kirlin are you listening?
  19. The freudian slip. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." —George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004
  20. Skyberdyber is right. Probably about 6 minutes to altitude though. http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=0992669&WxsIERv=Snvepuvyq%20Qbeavre%20328WRG-300&Wm=0&WdsYXMg=Jrypbzr%20Nve&QtODMg=Vaafoehpx%20-%20Xenarovggra%20%28VAA%20%2F%20YBJV%29&ERDLTkt=Nhfgevn&ktODMp=Qrprzore%2031%2C%202005&BP=1&WNEb25u=Fira%20Qr%20Orirer&xsIERvdWdsY=BR-YWE&MgTUQtODMgKE=&YXMgTUQtODMgKERD=602&NEb25uZWxs=2006-01-22%2008%3A00%3A09&ODJ9dvCE=&O89Dcjdg=3213&static=yes&width=1024&height=694&sok=JURER%20%20%28nvepensg_trarevp%20%3D%20%27Qbeavre%20328%27%20BE%20nvepensg_trarevp%20%3D%20%27Snvepuvyq%20Qbeavre%20328%27%29%20%20beqre%20ol%20cubgb_vq%20QRFP&photo_nr=71&prev_id=0993337&next_id=0992450
  21. The Dornier would take a payload of 8135 pounds or aproximitely 40 jumpers to 13.5 in about 10 minutes. while buning about 1800#s per hour or 270 gallons That's about four loads per flight hour. Assuming $20 per jump That's a Potential gross revenue of aproximately $3200 per flight hour. 2 pilots MTOW 30,843 pounds The baggage door is just somewhat smaller than a twin otter. Three floaters outside would work.Though jump runs would be pretty fast and they'd realy have to hang on. Here's a pic. http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1001388&WxsIERv=Snvepuvyq%20Qbeavre%20328-110&Wm=0&WdsYXMg=Jrypbzr%20Nve&QtODMg=Vaafoehpx%20-%20Xenarovggra%20%28VAA%20%2F%20YBJV%29&ERDLTkt=Nhfgevn&ktODMp=Wnahnel%205%2C%202006&BP=1&WNEb25u=Cuvyvccr%20Onyyrefgrqg&xsIERvdWdsY=BR-TOO&MgTUQtODMgKE=Qhevat%20obneqvat.%20Guvf%20bar%20unq%20gb%20jnvg%20n%20srj%20zvahgrf%20sbe%20gur%20pbaarpgvat%20cynar%20sebz%20Jrypbzr%20Nve.%20Nf%20fbba%20nf%20gur%20cynar%20ynaqrq%2C%20gur%20cnffratref%20yvggrenyl%20jnyxrq%20sebz%20bar%20nvepensg%20gb%20gur%20bgure%20ba%20gur%20gneznp.%20Qbbef%20pybfrq%2C%20naq%20gnxrbss%21%20Gung%27f%20jung%20V%20pnyy%20dhvpx%20genafvg%21&YXMgTUQtODMgKERD=1167&NEb25uZWxs=2006-02-10%2020%3A42%3A08&ODJ9dvCE=&O89Dcjdg=3078&static=yes&width=1200&height=812&sok=JURER%20%20%28nvepensg_trarevp%20%3D%20%27Qbeavre%20328%27%20BE%20nvepensg_trarevp%20%3D%20%27Snvepuvyq%20Qbeavre%20328%27%29%20%20beqre%20ol%20cubgb_vq%20QRFP&photo_nr=49&prev_id=1002230&next_id=1001311 It's doable. One big problem is the dornier is an orphan. Fairchild Dornier is bankrupt. That might make it difficult to get approval for the mods it would need.
  22. Very good gentleman. Here are your mathematics grades; Pilotdave A+ Diablopilot C- By the way. The D328 would probably make it to 13.5 in about 10 minutes and take about 5 minutes to descend. For extra credit. How many loads is that per hour? No calculators please. That's cheating. Here's a link to a pic of a lots of 328's just sitting in the desert. Just pick one and 6 million dollars later you're in the jump plane business. http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=0873009&size=M&sok=JURER%20%20%28ZNGPU%20%28nvepensg%2Cnveyvar%2Ccynpr%2Ccubgb_qngr%2Cpbhagel%2Cerznex%2Ccubgbtencure%2Crznvy%2Clrne%2Cert%2Cnvepensg_trarevp%2Cpa%2Cpbqr%29%20NTNVAFG%20%28%27%2B%22cfn%22%20%2B%22qbeavre%22%20%2B%22328%22%27%20VA%20OBBYRNA%20ZBQR%29%29%20%20BEQRE%20OL%20cubgb_vq%20QRFP&photo_nr=5&tbl=
  23. Me too. Ive got about 6000 hrs in the 328 and sometimes wondered what kind of jump ship it would make. With 2180 SHP a side it's a hot rod for a turbo prop. Just remove the aft bulkhead and baggage door and away you go. Of course someone would have to prove to the feds that it was safe. They cost about 10 million new and would probably be about 5-6 million on the used market. How many twin otters can you buy for that?
  24. Presently the FAA's aging aircraft rules only apply to A/C operated under part 135 or 121. Their is no requirement to track aircraft CYCLES or to comply with life limits of parts on aircraft operated under part 91 If the FAA forces parachute jump operations to be conducted under FAR 135 like they did to the air tour operators all life limited parts that you could not establish the number of cycles on would have to be zero timed.
  25. Why do you say that? The FAA specifically requires a special maintenance program for older A/C flown under part 121.(older would be 45000 cycles for a 727] Ref; FAR 121.370
