  1. Are you sure he's a republican? I thought they only had sex in airport men's rooms.
  2. Had C4 C5 fused several years ago with plating. Glad I did it. Neck injuries are pretty common in skydiving so their are lots of threads on here about it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1668642;page=unread#unread

  11. Yes it was edited. I understand the original was 13:55 and You Tube allows only 12:00 max. Still pretty good though. Much better quality than the old beta copy I have.
  12. Someone has posted a high quality copy of the classic Carl Boenish video Masters of the Sky on You Tube. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PqXirFELaY

  15. Spence, Are you refering to that yo yo who insisted on driving his car on the runway at ST Mary's GA last year, even after he was warned to stop?
  16. Fayard put 34 peeps per load on our 3300' runway. The Casa 212 is a transport category aircraft. Maximum takeoff weight is not as simple as in a lighter aircraft. Sec. 91.605 - Transport category civil airplane weight limitations. (b) No person may operate a turbine-engine-powered transport category airplane certificated after September 30, 1958, contrary to the Airplane Flight Manual, or take off that airplane unless -- (1) The takeoff weight does not exceed the takeoff weight specified in the Airplane Flight Manual for the elevation of the airport and for the ambient temperature existing at the time of takeoff; (2) Normal consumption of fuel and oil in flight to the airport of intended landing and to the alternate airports will leave a weight on arrival not in excess of the landing weight specified in the Airplane Flight Manual for the elevation of each of the airports involved and for the ambient temperatures expected at the time of landing; (3) The takeoff weight does not exceed the weight shown in the Airplane Flight Manual to correspond with the minimum distances required for takeoff, considering the elevation of the airport, the runway to be used, the effective runway gradient, the ambient temperature and wind component at the time of takeoff, and, if operating limitations exist for the minimum distances required for takeoff from wet runways, the runway surface condition (dry or wet). Wet runway distances associated with grooved or porous friction course runways, if provided in the Airplane Flight Manual, may be used only for runways that are grooved or treated with a porous friction course (PFC) overlay, and that the operator determines are designed, constructed, and maintained in a manner acceptable to the Administrator. (4) Where the takeoff distance includes a clearway, the clearway distance is not greater than one-half of -- (i) The takeoff run, in the case of airplanes certificated after September 30, 1958, and before August 30, 1959; or (ii) The runway length, in the case of airplanes certificated after August 29, 1959. (c) No person may take off a turbine-engine-powered transport category airplane certificated after August 29, 1959, unless, in addition to the requirements of paragraph (b) of this section -- (1) The accelerate-stop distance is no greater than the length of the runway plus the length of the stopway (if present); and (2) The takeoff distance is no greater than the length of the runway plus the length of the clearway (if present); and (3) The takeoff run is no greater than the length of the runway. http://www.risingup.com/fars/info/part91-605-FAR.shtml
  17. Apparently some Genesee County citizens see this for what it is. http://www.thedailynewsonline.com/articles/2009/06/18/opinion/letters/5605907.txt Letter: Dropping Boogie a shameful decision By Robert Zeagler Thursday, June 18, 2009 10:10 AM EDT Editor: After reading the May 29 article, "Batavia Boogie festival canceled," I really felt strongly that a response was in order. Shame - Shame - Shame on all Genesee County Legislators and the county attorney. Because of your miserable failure to address a problem and find a solution that has existed for almost a year, hundreds and hundreds of people you claim to represent and people outside this county will not be able to see a very positive, free and popular event -- the Batavia Boogie. The economic spin-off from this five-day event was not huge, but definitely brought in extra revenue and should not have been so callously disregarded. It certainly was a longstanding (19 years) very safe, controlled and well attended fun thing to witness. * One unfortunate and tragic accident (last year) and the politicians let this event "die in committee." Not even one legislator showed backbone, leadership or stepped up to the plate. Legislator Jerome Grasso, chairman of the Public Service Committee, said "no other legislator brought it back up at subsequent committee meetings" after it tabled a request to allow the skydiving club to camp for three days at the airport. Public Service tabled the matter to allow the county attorney to research it. "His advice was not to allow it to happen this year." In other words, sweep it under the carpet -- how pathetic and irresponsible. Gee -- after almost a year of procrastinating and foot dragging -- this sure "smells" like the liquid manure put out on Route 98 near the airport. It stinks like typical government planned obsolescence. God forbid, but this begs the question: If we have an airplane crash at the county airport and lives are lost, are the legislators then going to close the airport? Get real, politicians -- it was an accident. To all the skydivers and good people I saw at this event year after year, and to the new faces and people I met -- I bid you farewell and I will miss you. I'm the guy with the red Jeep with all the U.S. flags on top. If you see me around, please stop and say hello. We are the (victims) of an unjust and mishandled political boondoggle. I am very sorry that this great event was taken away from us. I am truly embarrassed by my dysfunctional Genesee County government. Bob Zeagler Batavia

  19. Ronald Reagan was 72 when elected to his second term. We now know that before the end of it he was suffering from alzheimers.
  20. And their are many who's ultimate goal is a christian theocracy. http://www.theocracywatch.org/
  21. If you're disgusted by the religious right you should know that McCain's choice of Sarah Palin for VP instead of one of his good friends Joe Lieberman or Tom Ridge was due to pressure from them [the religious right] who threatened to make trouble for him, according to the New York Times. In other words he caved. So much for the maverick. Before Palin I would have considered votng for McCain ,but we don't need another evangelical christian in the white house who believes the world is 6000 years old. Let's face it . The chances are fair that she would eventually be president if elected VP.
  22. This car is less expensive to own and operate and is more enviromentaly friendly. http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-gx/ The Ford would have to get about 80 MPG to be as economical and it's made in Ohio.
  23. I believe that's a Turbo caribou . http://www.dhc4and5.org/Turbo.html Should be a great jumpship. Why was it at Z-Hills?
  24. One issue that was brought up by the NTSB after the West Point crash is that their was no FAA authorization for flight with the cabin door removed for that model of queen air. http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=20001207X04585&key=1 Apparently their are two versions. A straight tail and a swept tail. I hope I don't get it reversed but if I remember right only the swept tail version is authorized for flight with the door removed.
  25. The simplest way to determine wind direction is to watch canopies that have landed ahead of you. As canopies collapse after landing they will almost always fall downwind making a perfect wind direction indicator. Canopies collapsing in random directions indicate little or no wind.
