Study: Americans Too Confident About Retirement Planning
jeiber replied to jeiber's topic in The Bonfire
I think it's only fair that we support all the less motivated people who have been content with mediocrity their whole lives! Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Hmmm, I've been pretty responsible (too responsible?) with my savings as well. Maybe I can afford to buy a Mexican version of The Playboy Mansion when I retire? -

Ironic that people who never even volunteered are typically the ones doing the loudest criticizing about others' military careers. Do you have anything to support this, or are you just making blind accusations to support what you want to believe? Rep. Kennedy - nephew in Afghanistan Rep. Hunter, D-S.D - son in Iraq Sen. Johnson - son in Iraq Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C - son in Iraq There are more... I don't have time to research and list them all... J Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Dammit woman, that's my plan! Go find yourself a sugar daddy to support you! Man, you know it's a slow day when I'm posting about retirement in the bonefire! Hopefully someone finds it useful/interesting. J Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,190461,00.html Work sucks today, I was looking outside at the beautiful weather and wondering what I would have to do to retire sometime soon. Needless to say, I won't be retiring in my 30's! Seriously though, the 'Ballpark Estimator' was pretty cool. I've used other tools before, but this was the simplest and most straight forward. Just thought I'd share to help out my peeps! J Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Then this discounts the argument that policians 'went to war', just to pad their pockets with dividends from US companies. Oh, don't think for a second that I don't believe this 'had nothing to do with oil.' This war wasn't waged over one determining factor. Of course oil had 'something to do with it'. Terrorism had 'something to do with it'. WMD had 'something to do with it'. Human rights violations had 'something to do with it'. There are alot of 'something to do with it's. Opponents to the war choose to pick just one factor and say we shouldn't have gone to war over it, and if that were the only factor, I agree. Sum all these 'lesser' factors together, and we have one big problem. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Yeah, I'm sure the SEC wouldn't bother looking into this. Do you have anything to support this accusation, or are you just making things up to support your argument? Why confuse the issue with fact. [sarcasm]I knew it!!! These so called 'detection' devices aren't really used to warn against natural disasters and try to save lives, they actually CAUSE the natural disasters! I can't believe the Bush administration actually thought they'd get away with such a sinister plot![/sarcasm] J Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

If they had friends and family who were in the path of the tsunami, no, I don't. I'm sure we'll all agree that, in general, politicians are self serving people. I still don't think they are so low that they would send their friends and family to war, for the sole reason of padding their pockets. You guys can cry conspiracy all you like, I'm not buying it. People will always profit off others' misfortunes. Although it may not be moral, ethical, or scrupulous, it doesn't imply they are responsible for the initial misfortune... And you can't be such a conspiracy theorist to think this whole war is just to boost Exxon's dividends... Are there people banking on the war? Of course. There are also people banking on hurricane Katrina, and the Tsunami the wiped out tens of thousands in Asia. Let me guess - Republicans are also to blame for this... they have a top secret weather machine and they're creating situations that they can profit from, even though it kills tens of thousands. I'm going to start selling foil hats on eBay. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Sometimes I'm so glad I don't have kids! At 6 years old, I agree that she doesn't know what she's lookin' at. I was a little older than that when my friends and I found some Hustler's in the trash. We liked the boobs... the other stuff we didn't pay alot of attention to. I don't know how good of advice this is, but coming from a non-parent, I would just let it go, and not make an ordeal about it. She's probably already forgotten what she saw. Bringing it up again is just drawing attention to something she doesn't need to be thinking about. Good luck, let us know how you handle it, in case I'm ever in that situation! This cracks me up every time I hear it. What was the price of oil before we invaded, and what is the price after we invaded? Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -
They're all pretty easy to initially install. Installing software after the fact, and applying patches/kernel upgrades is where it's tough. Without knowing what you're trying to do, it's hard to recommend a *nix to install. As you see in this thread, there are many. If you just want sometning to play with, any will do. If you're looking to boost your technical skills, I would suggest some of the major brands. Fedora, as McDuck mentioned, RedHat, and a number of other distrributions are fine. You also might want to look at OpenBSD, FreeBSD, and NetBSD. All similar, but with different strong points. Yes, you can install X11 on here, but it'll definitely be a dog. The OS itself will run on that box, no prob. It's the GUI that'll choke it. Depending on the type of install you do, you're probably going to be tight on hard drive space. Also, none of these are 'easy' to learn and work with. Documentation is usually sketchy, incomplete, or just plain errant in some cases. On the other hand, all are very powerful and flexible. Jeff ps- I used FreeBSD, until an upgrade hosed the whole system. Now I'm just trying to find time to reinstall.... Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!

Holy Crap! 8mm?! Now THAT's wide! After looking at these pictures, I can't wait till Saturday! I'll have to rig up some kind of 'dummy cord' though. Brand spankin' new D70. I'm terrified of dropping it... Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Nice! What kind of lens is that? Just picked up a 14mm Sigma (non-fisheye). Afraid it might be too wide for tandems, but couldn't pass the deal up. Figured it would be cool for shots like the one you just took! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring! -

Yeah, a 99 cent BigMac at McDonalds would work too, but if, by some stroke of luck, she's actually worth a shit, the bubble gum machine might not impress her. Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
