The second issue is that Bill Booth (owner of the Uninsured Relative Workshop) will tear up the rating of any Vector or Sigma-rated instructor that he hears did a jump with a minor. Well.. I know of a few that have.. but I'm not talking. what Bill Booth doesn't know won't hurt him...

Used to live in Tulsa too..when I took job with AA at the aircraft overhaul base there, put my 6 months in and transfered out. didn't care much for living any where in Oklahoma.

I went to Metro tech 89-91 for my A&P in OKC at Will Rogers airport right next to FAA... No I didn't care much for living in OKC and dropzones are all Cessna 182 DZ and in hot summer your lucky if any one shows up at Dropzone to jump... I often showed up at Cushing DZ and was only one there other than a tandem student or two... I got out of Oklahoma as fast as I could... my 2 cents worth.

Jet Blue aircraft having problems with landing gear

"Last night's incident concluded exactly as Airbus expected it would," Airbus spokeswoman Mary Anne Greczyn said. "Flight crews are trained to handle such situations and aircraft are designed to withstand such landings." The A320 family — which includes the A318, A319 and A321 — has a somewhat unusual landing gear that rotates before retracting into the fuselage. "It's definitely not the most common way," said Chuck Eastlake, aerospace engineering professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. "The reason is that the ability of the nose wheel to rotate 90 degrees introduces the possibility of failure, exactly like what we saw." In contrast, Boeing aircraft landing gear all move straight up and down. The A320 landing gear is moved through hydraulic pressure, when fluid is pumped into a valve, which moves a piston. Rubber seals called O-rings are used to prevent the hydraulic fluid from leaking. But if the hydraulic fluid leaks, the piston won't work right, Eastlake said. That's what happened in at least two previous incidents. Airbus said the landing gear got stuck because of problems with the seals, and told airlines they should replace the seals on A320 and A321 aircraft. -

Oh yea America West and soon US Airway sends their aircraft to the same place as JetBlue...

JetBlue sends their aircraft to San Salvador for maintenance, the nose gear dynamic seals are a scheduled change item in a "C" check the nose gear must be removed and reinstalled during this procedure the manufacturers maintenance manuals have been revised to address the flawed design of this assembly Jet Blue maintence manuals are written in English the Federal Air Regulations do not require mechanics to speak/ read English in San Salvador The assumption is that outsoucing maintenance to San Salvador caused this problem because Jet Blue mechanics only perform LIGHT Line Maintenance. the San Salvador mechanics are paid next to nothing. You make more money flipping burgers in the USA than they do. they don't have read / write / understand English (Jet Blue'saircraft Manuals are in English) no 10 year background checks or drug test and retraining like were required here in USA.

Not me I only work on the B-767 & B-777 at overhaul base here.

here's where Jetblue get's their aircraft repaired at.. in south America Nice CHEAP $$ PAYING OUTFIT. Additional Incidents On November 1, 2002, an Airbus A320, being operated by JetBlue landed at the John F. Kennedy International (JFK) Airport, New York, New York, with its NLG turned 90 degrees. This airplane had come out of maintenance where the NLG dynamic seal was replaced approximately 3 days prior to the incident. The airplane had flown 15 cycles and 23 hours between the completion of the maintenance and the incident. The investigation into this incident revealed the same findings as were found on N804UA. The upper centering cam on the inner cylinder had been mis-installed. This resulted in the anti-rotation lugs not being perpendicular to the axle and consequently the lugs were not properly seated in the backplate slots. Did anyone notice how the people reporting the Jet-Blue incident made it sound like a commercial for Air Bus. The fly by wire, TV's at each seat etc. How the nose gear was really stout. Not a word about where their maint. is done.

- A Jet Blue airliner landed safely at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday after its pilot reported a problem with the wing flaps as the plane prepared to descend, an airline spokeswoman said. No injuries were reported. The emergency landing came one day after another of the airline's planes circled Southern California for hours with a faulty landing gear. That plane also landed without any injuries, but passengers watched in horror as they saw the drama unfold on news broadcasts on their in-flight TVs. According to Jet Blue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin, Flight No. 32 departed from Tampa, Fla., at 11:56 a.m. Thursday. As the plane was preparing to land at JFK, the pilot "received an indication the (flaps) were locked," she said. "Following procedure, the pilot declared an emergency landing." The plane touched down at 2:24 p.m., and the passengers were brought to an airport gate for a normal exit from the aircraft, Dervin said. It was unclear if the flaps actually were locked or if it was a false alarm. Arlene Murray, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, confirmed the plane landed without incident and described the incident as "very minor." Wednesday's flight with the crippled landing gear also was destined for New York City.

here's the United Airbus that twisted it's Nose Gear on landing a few months back.. right out 3rd party repair shop. It didn't get much media coverage as JetBlue did... -

You need a way better photo than that....United had one of their aircraft land same way with gear twisted 90 degrees off I think it was a Airbus A318....it was about 8 months ago.. they've had AD issued by FAA due nose gear problems on Airbus Aircraft... -

note: I said if the link breaks and gear extends all way down it'll center. I haven t seen the jet blue airbus or photos of it so I have no idea what broke..... Airbus design won't center gear if strut extends all way down Boeing design gear will.. -

when the link breaks and gear extends all way down the cam inside nose gear center's the nose gear.. those other 747 are on ground with weight on nose gear it can t extend all way down so it can't center nose wheel.. also, those guys look like they are doing extrem turning / corrections. in old Hong Kong airport the had lot trick landings due to winds / steep approaches. you see that on those 747's there.... -

So? It's a global marketplace... I can't speak for HK, but the Singaporeans know how to build and run things. Singapore Airlines is a far better carrier than any of the major US guys. tell that to the United mechanics who have to fix lot of problems on aircraft coming in from these over sea repairs...and the Northwest Airlines 747 that landed Gaum with nose gear up, after coming out of Hong Kong repair shop. .lot of crappy workmanship over there.. Here is the Boeing 777 nose gear. You can see the torque link behind the tires. I bet this broke on the Airbus. On the Boeing aircraft if it breaks a cam in the gear as it extends will center the nose gear. The airbus doesn't have this safety feature...which why the Airbus nose gear was turned 90 degrees off center. The 777 nose gear will turn 70 degrees with the tiller and 7 degrees with use of rudder.
