Mobile App for DZ.com? Would you pay for it if there was one?

Never said I was gonna build it. Just curious if people on here want one. Dom -

that would work as well. i just think that with all the smartphone stuff going on, that people would check in more if there was a mobile friendly site for DZ.com Dom -
See that is the problem. You can be married but you need one on the side just for that purpose. Ha. See I am falling right back into a thread that turns into Boobie talk. Im just as bad as the rest. Dom

I guess I would use it. I spend a lot of time on trains and in subway stations now. Need something to look at. Dom -

Would you pay for a phone app for dz.com? Dom -
It is so much easier to stay in touch especially on FB. Now if DZ.com had an Android, BLackberry and iPhone app. I bet that would do well. I would even pay for that. Dom

Or maybe people are afraid of getting fired for playing around online. Not like it used to be with so many people out of work. I personally think that Facebook and Twitter have a lot to do with DZ.com slowing down. Dom

I like boobies as much as the next guy and DZ.com has been a source for some great ones over the years, but maybe that is one of the reasons DZ.com has slowed down over the years. To many boobie and naked picture threads and not enough real skydiving info anymore. i cant believe I just said Dom

We had two guys in our office get them. Both went back to real smokes. I still may give it a try though. It was kinda funny seeing peoples reactions as they puffed away on them in the office though. One woman tried to say that she could smell the electronic smokes. They are completely odorless though. Made a big stink about it (no pun intended). Dom

Old Timers, How many sport static lines did you make?
dgskydive replied to captain1976's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
That was my progression back in '94. Hell, we still didn't have any AFF jumps at the DZ until after I left in 96. I can still remember the DZO and Tommy Lentz practicing for their AFFI course. I cant remember if Tommy got his AFF rating before he died in a crash, but the DZO failed his AFF course. lol Dom -
Ha! That is a better shitter then we got in the 1st gulf war. They kinda looked like the pic you have, but there was a gutter running from left to right that everything flowed into and out the side. Needless to say, we always tried to get the stall on the left so we didnt have to see and smell what our buddy was getting rid of. Though that was much better than shitting in half a 50 gallon barrel and then pulling burn and stir detail in the morning. Oh the horror. Dom

Am I wrong? What should I do or have done?

If your swooping and not using the pattern that everyone else is, then maybe the swoopers should not be landing with everyone else. Dom -
IMHO, as a former paratrooper and Military JM. I think they should count toward jump numbers but not towards license requirements. Specifically towards getting off student status and the A license. There is so much more that you need to know then what is required of a military static line jump. on the other hand there is a lot that you can learn from military static line jumps. But different skill sets are involved. I had close to 70 military static line jumps before I started skydiving. I learned skydiving through static line progression. Just the difference in exit altitude is enough to throw some military jumpers off. Big difference between stepping out in a really tight body position and counting to 4. Emergency procedures are way different, different body positions, different gear. I wont say the difference is night and day, but it is not the same. Dom

+1 Dom

When you have even a 10th of the jumps that John has then maybe.......just maybe.......on second thought, even then, you shouldnt even try to make fun of the canopy size he jumps. Dom

Thanks for the links. NOw I may be able to understand why they find it so appealing. Dom
