I always find this question funny. Yes kissing makes sex better. I hear some people say that it is more intimate then sex and means more and blah blah blah. Let me ask this question. Would you be more likely to forgive your SO if you walked in on them kissing someone else or actually having sex with someone else. Me, I would be more likely to forgive them if they where kissing and would never forgive them if they where actually having sex. Even though I would most likely not forgive them for either. Dom

Date and play around with for a while sure! Marry and take home to Mom? No. There are somethings that when I have kids and they ask Mommy if she has ever done this or that. There are somethings I want her to be able to answer no to with a capital NO. Dom

Well she is at least a soldier to us that know her. Kate finally came back to work today. Looking a bit worse for wear but definatly on the mend. Give her 3 or 4 more months and she will be back in the air. Dom

What's so special about that? All of my co-workers jump. Doesn't everybodies? Dom -
Don't confuse them with BASE stuff. Dom

Minimum pack opening altitude is 2,000 ft. I usually start my wave off at 3,000 and am in the saddle at 1900 to 1800 ft. As an experienced jumper you won't be pulling at 5.5 very long or your buddies won't wanna jump with ya cause you will be leaving the dive about 1,500 ft to early for them most of the time. Dom

I am going to see it Friday night. I see what you are saying. I guess what I am suggesting is that maybe it became a very small thing at first (jews being just a part of the crowd). Then over time as the gospels where written there was more anamosity (sp)and this shows up in the later gospels. Human nature. Over time there participation just became exaggertated. Just a thought. Dom

From what I have heard from the interviews is that there are a lot of old languages that can be heard. I guess some of the things said in Aramaic are qoutes from the Gospel that will add fuel to the fire over the whole "the Jews killed Christ" thing. I haven't read much of the bible but a friend of mine is a Pastor at a Saddleback Church here in California. He says if you look at the books of (I believe he said) John, Luke And Matthew. You will see that each book progressivley blames the Jews more and more for The Death of Jesus. I guess the first book just kinda mentions that a few Jews asked for the death of Christ and by the last book it has grown to the entire Jewish people cried out for him to be killed. Dom

I haven't seen the movie yet and am by no means a biblical scholar. But I have watched many interviews and discussions about this film. I find it amusing that it depends on what side of the fence you stand on, that decieds if this movie is accurate or not. Most of the Christain Clergy I have seen comment on the movie say that it is very accurate, while most of the Jewish Rabies that I have seen say that it is very innaccurate. When asked directly if he thought that the Jews killed Jesus his answer made sense to me. "Everybody killed Jesus." It wasn't just one group it was MAN that killed him. He wasn't killed just because some Jews wanted him dead. THis movie isn't about blame or who did what. It is simply the last 12 hours of his life. The purpose is to show us what he went through, the love that he had for us all, and just how great that love really was. That is why he is showing everything in such detail. He wants to make people really see what he went through for us and how much he loved us all. Dom

Those are some HUGE ones in that pic. The wind seems to be having no effect on them what so ever. There was an even better one on the other side of the bar. Dom

would you Sue the canopy manufacturer

Ok, to both you and Bill, I used the wrong thing to try and make my point. Dom -
would you Sue the canopy manufacturer
dgskydive replied to Tinkerbelle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The Precision thing is wrong! I wouldn't sue for something like that at all. I guess I am not making my point clear. I know that shit happens and we are all taking risks here. I do so every chance I get, with a smile on my face. I am not out to sue someone over something stupid. I am not out to sue anyone period. I do believe that if you or I, or anyone that makes a product that people will be depending on for their life. That they do it to the best of their abilities and take every step possible to insure that the equipment works. IF they knowingly do something that causes someone harm just to make a buck then they should be held liable for it. I had one of those Tri's when they came out. Bought it in 1995 or 96. Watched my friends blow up during deployment on his 6th jump on his. I put well over 300 jumps on mine that I bought a week before he did. They didn't all blow up and they soon fixed the problem once it was identified. They didn't go around trying to cover it up. I agree! This statment tells me how it can go if things are made and done properly, right? Great! I excpet that risk! I will never ever sue anyone for doing what they tell me they are going to do. My point is when it is done improperly and puts people at more risk then they have agreed to except. That is when the trouble starts. Dom -

would you Sue the canopy manufacturer
dgskydive replied to Tinkerbelle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No they shouldn't. Because they warned you that it is for only the most exprienced pilots. They warned you and let you know how dangerous it was. Now if they, let's say they switched material on a canopy because it was cheaper and didn't get it approved. Just switched fabric without telling anyone. This "X" material blows up after 50 jumps no matter how well you take care of it and they didn't tell you. If that where to result in some sort of injury why should they get a free pass? There are certain things that I think are expected when you buy something like a parachute. You expect that they are following all the procedures and saftey requirments that they are required to do, to insure they sell you an airworthy canopy. If they take short cuts and knowingly sell bad products they should be held liable. Shit happens as well. We just sold a canopy to a guy overseas. It folded up on him twice in his first two jumps on it. Everytime he touched the front risers it would fold up in two. Was this done intentionally? I don't think so and he shouldn't sue. But if this manufacture had been making these canopies and they had been doing it all the time and decided not to change it because it would cost them to much money to change there production steps or soemthing like that. Then I think they are liable at that point. Dom -
Touchy subject here for sure. I don't know everything about this stuff, but I would think you would want to let the other person know and vice versa. In the case of HIV. I have seen someone catch it because they weren't told that someone else had it. An ex girlfriend of mine got it from having unprotected sex with a guy that was HIV positive and he didn't tell her. The last time I checked the talk was of charging him with attempted manslaughter. I know this is a bit different of a situation that we are talking about here. The thing that gets me about the situation other then the obvious sadness I had for the girl and how her life was now ruined. Was that this happened while I was in the Army. We are put into situations everyday that put us at additional risk and had no idea. I would have liked to know the extra risk I would have been taking if I had to give first aid to this guy. Sure, I would have worn gloves but they may not have been available at the time. If they weren't I at least would have been able to make an in formed choice before potentially getting it myself. For the record I don't know wha tI would have done if that situation had come up. Now as a student or TM or in any walk of life. If you have a disease, I think you should disclose it to anyone that has a reasonable chance of catching it from you. I think in skydiving there is a reasonable chance that it could be transmitted if an accident occured. Therefore it should be disclosed. Dom

Just wondering. What does that have to do with it? Dom

I have not jumped a Coblat. But if you search the threads in this forum you will find all kinds of Coblat threads. Most of it is not good. Dom

I have put over 100 jumps on a Vision 132 and have not had the problems that Bill is talking about. It is a very good beginner Eliptical. I remember he put a few jumps on one and we sent it back for something. It came back and there have been no problems with it. I have not had any problems with it opening hard or starting into turns or dives on opening. I have found it to be a very steady canopy. In fact I have had to really lean in the harness to get it turning with just my body. It will go but I really have to lean into it. It does have a short recovery arch which I think is good for someone just getting into eliptical's. It gives you a chance to recover from a mistake that you may not be able to recover from on a more aggressive canopy (Stiletto, Nitron, Crossfire). Great landings without a lot of steppin it out at the end. Dom

My 9 years in the Army and intense hatred for that color prevent me from saying anything other then nice choice of Manufacture. Dom

Make sure you READ the waiver!
dgskydive replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you are going to ask the question that way. I would say "yes" Shit happens and I wouldn't sue anybody for that. But if I knew there was serious neglect going on then that would be different. Then again if I knew about neglect I wouldn't jump there anymore anyway. But if something was wrong that they knew about and kept hidden and did nothing about and caused serious injury or death I would sue. I give my word that I will follow there rules and saftey requirments. I expect them to protect me to the best of their abilities (proper maint, rated pilots and such). If they aren't doing there part then why should they get a free pass? I know the risks involved in jumping and I except them at their full value. If I hit the plane on exit and become a Quad, if I hook it in, if I get out early or late and land out and break something, if Joe Blow takes me out in free fall or under canopy. These things aren't the DZ's fault. They don't deserve to be sued for things like this. If they take a student up with an unrated instructor and the student dies... they should get taken to civil and criminal court. Those are the types of things I would sue for. Dom
