Whats the rush?? Well the rush is that summer's coming for one, which assuming we ended up with an even more smoking gunthan we have now it make war difficult to say the least, and thus we would either have to do it and risk more of our own casualties or wait til the backend of the year and let him be more prepared. This is a samll side argument as far as the military are concerned. The main argument I suppose is that, as has been proven in the past he will just keep pissing around the inspectors, and eventually boot them from the country having not really acheived anything. He wil then continue with the programmes he has in place now and we'll be in the same boat all over again in another 10 yrs and no progress on disarmamaent will be made. I put it to you that the only reason we discovered the Al Samud missiles was that he needed to offer something to the UN to swing suppport in his direction otherwise Blix latest report would have paved the way for war with no questions, as it was he had to re-write it at the last minute. "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

Problem is wild blue he doesnt need an ICBM to be a threat. regional instability and his who cares attitude, if you have the money you can have it are going to cause you just as many problems whether ur just down the street from one of his palaces or 12,000 miles away. One of my best m8's is working intel in the gulf atm, and he was back here for a couple a weeks about a fortnight ago and having sat down and shot the shit with him over a couple of beers just befroe he went back out I have seen the light!! Further I posted this elsewhere, but the bottom line is that 1441 was THE line drawn in the sand by the UN and was agreed on by Russia, france and the others that are dithering atm, so how many more lines do we need to draw and let him step over before everyone finally decides he is guilty. I dont necessarily want war but this cat and mouse game has to finish, 1441 clearly stated that material breach would enable force to allow disarmament, however it is only because certain countries have vested interests that they continue to oppose the process which is already in place thro 1441. There isnt a need for a second resolution, it is only being sought to keep the international community happy. Al samud missiles! So technically the cease fire was anulled when he ejected the inspectors! Determined to secure full compliance with its decisions, Acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, 1. Decides that Iraq has been and remains in material breach of its obligations under relevant resolutions, including resolution 687 (1991), in particular through Iraq's failure to cooperate with United Nations inspectors and the IAEA, and to complete the actions required under paragraphs 8 to 13 of resolution 687 (1991); 2. Decides, while acknowledging paragraph 1 above, to afford Iraq, by this resolution, a final opportunity to comply with its disarmament obligations under relevant resolutions of the Council; and accordingly decides to set up an enhanced inspection regime with the aim of bringing to full and verified completion the disarmament process established by resolution 687 (1991) and subsequent resolutions of the Council; 3. Decides that, in order to begin to comply with its disarmament obligations, in addition to submitting the required biannual declarations, the Government of Iraq shall provide to UNMOVIC, the IAEA, and the Council, not later than 30 days from the date of this resolution, a currently accurate, full, and complete declaration of all aspects of its programmes to develop chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and other delivery systems such as unmanned aerial vehicles and dispersal systems designed for use on aircraft, including any holdings and precise locations of such weapons, components, sub-components, stocks of agents, and related material and equipment, the locations and work of its research, development and production facilities, as well as all other chemical, biological, and nuclear programmes, including any which it claims are for purposes not related to weapon production or material; 4. Decides that false statements or omissions in the declarations submitted by Iraq pursuant to this resolution and failure by Iraq at any time to comply with, and cooperate fully in the implementation of, this resolution shall constitute a further material breach of Iraq's obligations and will be reported to the Council for assessment in accordance with paragraphs 11 and 12 below; . Recalls, in that context, that the Council has repeatedly warned Iraq that it will face serious consequences as a result of its continued violations of its obligations; I hate to cut and paste but its there, he is in material breach of the line drawn so how many more resolutions, lines or will the anti-war lobby finally come on side when the next terror attack on US/uk/european soil is a bio/chem attack and the weapon components are traced to Iraq. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I think those against war have probably made a lot of generals think many times exactly how to undertake this venture to minimise the casualties, but you cannot make an omlete without breaking eggs. I suppose maybe we should hope that SH takes the 72 hr exile deal being brokered by the Pope!! "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

The problem is what's going to be the straw that brakes the camels back. How much loger are France, Russia and Germany going to dither before they see the light??? "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

Thanks guys I think, I may well do as you say and pop across east when the weather's a bit worse and see whats what. As much as jumping out the aircraft I'm looking forward to making new m8's, the social circle tends to diminish when ur away at sea!! HEHE i've had experience of Tomo at the bar and hmm could make the drives intereting but I reckon i'll be staying sunday nights to recover/get decent kip and drive the monday - makes it a long weekend too which is good!! Once I'm back I'll drop you both a PM if thats OK, when i got it in one sock, unfortunately I'm straight into work on arrival for two weeks :(, but it'll be nice to go and jump knowing theres people I've already spoken too!! "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

Thinking of them too, I got a whole load of buddies out there and I volunteered but they had the nerve to leave me driving a desk. Gods speed guys! "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

What I think may have got lost in the ether here is that 1441 clearly stated that Saddam was to declare all weapons of mass destruction, provide full and complete evidence of all his WMD programs, and declare any banned weapon systems and he was to do so before xmas, any non declaration was to be considered material breach of the resolution and could therefore open the door to making him disarm. Now whilst I admit they are small finds, in accordance with 1441 which ALL countries agreed on including the present non war ones ie Russia, Germany, Frogs etc, the Al Samud missiles, the 13 chemical shells, the nulcear paperwork at the scientisits homes, the documentary evidence of Iray tryint to obtain stainless tubing from Italy for nuclear refining are all material breaches of the original resolution however you look at it. Now they may not be a "smoking gun" but they are a breach of that resolution and quite frankly I think that UN credibility is going down the plug hole fast. There is no point making a resoltuion that everyone signs stating that one thing has to be done if every time Saddam bends or breaks the rules slightly we say oh its ok its not serious enough. Either he is or is not in material breach of the resolution, there are no half measures. The resolution is the preverbial line in the sand and the UN to maintain any credibility at all cannot keep re-drawing the line every time the boundries are pushed, or where do we draw the final line - once we go to war and he uses CBN weapons against our troops or another country or once he sells VX/Anthrax to a terrorist group who then fly a crop dusting plane over an American city. There may be no links to Al Quaieda (sp?) but that doesn't discount the fact that he is an unstable character who does things on whim and will actually do almost anything for money to increase his arsenal. "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

Well in that case I'll take advice, My reasoning was thus, I can get a lift to 12.5k for £10 at Weston because I'm military - all be it I gotta drive 5 hrs. So if I make 8 jumps in a weekend I have more or less paid for my petrol because the general price at Strathallen and St Andrew's appears to be £16 or more. I looked at Strathallen and St Andrews and I would certainly be looking to camp overnight and whilst both offer it Strathallen doesnt seem to have a bar so I dont know how good the social scene is after and St Andrews does so that may not be too bad. Don't know if that makes any sense but I wanna be able to party after and camp and keep jump costs down. I agree Weston isnt ideal for the distance but having jumped there already I do know a few people and it seems that the general consencus is to jump regualrly at one place so you get to know everyone. Willing to take other advice tho!!! "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

One for the melting pot..... how do you deal with a guy who says he has no WMD's but has given his local commanders authority to use them if they see fit if the allies invade!! and dont ask where i got my info. "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

Being tattoed, I deliberately went for somewhere that isnt imeediately visible and people only get to see if i want to show it. Sounds odd but I was trying to be pragmatic for later life when ur siupposed to be more more grown up sheeesh go figure. But I would go for the flying bird and for location I would put it to one side of somewhere because it is not a symetrical design and probably wouldn't suit a middle position. Base of the back just on the top of the jean line on the left or the right or if she is feeling very brave and for me is intimate and quite sexy on the right or left at the front just in the nook between the top of the leg and the stomach. you know about 4-5 inches down from your belly button but off to the side. That way the guy, or girl (PC) will only probably see it if he's heading in the right direction if ya see what I mean, or was that tmi?? "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."

well Im just outside Glasgow guys but lookslike I'll probably be jumping at Weston rather than my more local DZ's but aint decided yet. "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough."
