  1. Is "in place" 8 inches from your back?
  2. hehe, what I really liked was the line run during the election which went that if you did anything other than vote for the incumbent President then you were automatically an America hater who wanted Americans to die... simply because you were voting against the President.
  3. Well, either produce a significantly higher muzzle energy than the .44 magnum...
  4. try here:http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1840621;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread and here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=1542855;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;
  5. If you're referring to this program: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1589669 1) you mis-viewed the program in a VERY big way. 2) you're over-reacting to the mild hyperbole that was shown. 3) from 4,000ft you're gonna get arround 15 seconds of freefall. 4) it was a static line progression jump NOT an AFF jump. 5) She exited at 4,000ft and the program stated she initiated her main deployment after a 5second delay (perfectly normal). 6) your instructors don't often jump with you during S/L progression 7) the program specifically concluded that she must have had a canopy out after conducting tests in a wind tunnel. 8) were you drunk/high when you watched this program?
  6. Isn't that the same as "Dz.commer that hates America the most" award? Are you suggesting it makes sense to hate America?
  7. Individual skydivers might be retarded enough to try jumping a VX89 loaded to 2.4:1 with less than 250 jumps... but CCI's and DZO's aren't dumb enough to let it happen on their airfield. I don't believe his profile. I think it's akin to trolling then sitting at home in the dark whacking off while you read all the outraged responses. If it is true, someone needs to point out his jump numbers to his CCI. Hell I could be on a DZ tomorrow with this guy. I don't like that thought. The last time I gave CPR I got brain goo on my trousers and had to throw them away.
  8. The 44 Magnum's for pussies: http://www.popularmechanics.com/outdoors/firearms/1277336.html
  9. Can you point please to the sentence where I said something about ''ALL Texans''? What I did do is joke that the Texas legislature had passed a new (and obviously made up) intolerant law based on religious beliefs. Guess what - this whole thread is about an intolerant law (presumably passed some time ago) by the Texas legislature based on religious beliefs. See in saying that a new law had been passed by the legislature; I was poking fun at the legislature, NOT ''all Texans''. Now given that the legislature hasn't seen fit to repeal this law against sex toys, I think that is a pretty fair comment. My last sentence also drew a brief comparison between a State which allows intolerant laws based on religious views to exist on its statute book, and the odd country across the other side of the world that also has a penchant for intolerant laws based on religious views. As I said, ''the more things differ, the more they look the same''.
  10. His position appears to be based on the premise that if you ever have your main snag on your camera helmet you will notice it. Therefore under such circumstances you will cutaway your helmet before you cutaway your main. Under those circumstances you will not be towing anything by your helmet as it will simply depart with your malfunctioning main. Your skyhook deployed reserve will therefore deploy cleanly. I suppose there is always the possibility that a main may snag on the camera helmet and the jumper will not notice it, causing him to cutaway his main before cutting away his helmet. This could easily result in the kind of undesirable situation you describe. However that risk has to be balanced by the possibility that more camera flyers would be saved by the skyhook than killed by it. IF that is the case then in the grand scheme of things many would say it was worth it – fewer people died because of its existence. We see this today with the ordinary RSL. This of course makes sense to a manufacturer who wishes to look out for us all and create a situation which is the best for the most in a kind of 'balance of harm' exercise. It often doesn't make sense to the individual however, who will always believe their skills will save them and that it won't happen to them even if it does happen to others. Individuals are more likely to consider the risk of a piece of equipment killing them (because it fires your reserve into a line snag you have failed to notice prior to cutaway) is greater than the risk of dying from failing to manually deploy their reserve in time. Individuals often conclude that their skills are superior and that they will be able to do what others before them have failed to do in the past. Sometimes this leads to deaths. In the bigger picture, an item which saves more than it kills might be worthwhile – especially if the difference is great. Say in 20 years time we looked back and could show that there were 50 people alive who would have died if they had not been jumping a rig equipped with a skyhook; but there were also 2 dead skydivers who might have survived had they not had an RSL at all. 50 for 2 sounds like a nice swap in the grand scheme of things. Of course for the 2 it sucks royally... and skydivers always think their skills will prevent them being one of the 50... but only choosing not to use the safety device in the first place can keep them from being one of the 2. The question is; which is the bigger risk? Being one of the 50 or being one of the 2? I'm not nearly qualified enough to make that call. Most of us aren't. Perhaps if your skills really are what you think they are, maybe it really is being one of the 2. If you're wrong though, well maybe you'll find yourself spending the last 2 seconds of your life wishing that you weren't.
  11. Played it, won it, loved it. Great game - found it maybe 6 months ago and it took me a couple of weeks to fully explore it during my lunch breaks. If you need any hints or tips give me a shout. You'll love getting to grips with controlling Dark - just remember there's nothing like Real Tea. (I love the scientific explanations for everything). I was only dissapointed that once you'd really got to grips with the game and were actually able to properly do things that was pretty much the end of the game. I would like to see sequel... would have to be done just as well mind to work.
  12. well I suppose that would be one solution...
  13. Finally someone notices it. Yes it is big. No I doubt there's anything anyone can do about it. Yes that's sad.
  14. There are leaked UK memos which show that actually far from there being a flawed plan for US involvement in post war Iraq - there wasn't actaully a plan at all. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/11/AR2005061100723.html Guess it doesn't even fall into the 2nd catagory.
  15. Did you forget the link or just your meds?
  16. And in a new move today, Texan Women will be required to wear Burkas while out on the streets. The more things differ, the more they look the same.

  18. yeah but if I'm talking about Germany with a bunch of folks who speak English I'm gonna call it "Germany" not "Deutschland". Then again... I'm pretty sure "Vietnam" or "Viet nam" doesn't actually look anything like either of them in Vietnamese if you want to get really picky.
  19. Must have missed that one. Was it this thread, about a guy on a small HP canopy loaded above 2:1 with only 200 odd jumps who managed to put himself in a wheel chair for the rest of his life? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1125536#1125536 Or this thread, about a guy on a small HP canopy loaded above 2:1 with only 200 odd jumps who managed to put himself in a wheel chair for the rest of his life? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1124590;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  20. Pilot's fly great in deap brakes and have lovely slow flight characteristics. Not all canopies are like that.
  21. It might just go through this time. The Iraqi govt. has changed the rules about how it can be vetoed to make it much more difficult to get it rejected. Hell with thier new rules it would be difficult to get an unpopular bit of legislation overturned in the West, never mind Iraq where people are afraid to stand in queues. This rule change undermines the whole fucking process. See here:http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=aRqfTVv_nw9U&refer=top_world_news It amazes me that this change has gone almost un-reported and yet it is such a massive change that everyone involved should be up in arms about it.
  22. Am I the only one who scan-read this thread title as "Fake plastic titties!" and was then somewhat disappointed??
  23. So you've never eaten a sausage?
  24. In that case if you'd have gone direct to PD for a demo you would have had to pay shipping on the canopy anyway - which would have brought the total paid up to the same as you paid for the local Icarus demo price. Ah well... hope you liked the canopy though.
  25. If I remember correctly though, the Icarus price includes shipping whereas the PD price is just the canopy. When I did it the two figures worked out almost exactly the same.
