  1. Go see this thread. There's a great post from Wags on this subject and a lot of discussion over how well these things work. There was another thread arround the same time that I can't find just now. It contains a detailed account of this time when some guys from the manufacturer came out to the DZ to outfit a free fly team with 360 degree cameras feeding to a micro drive style recorder.... didnt work and they ended up doing the shoot with conventional cams. I'm not convinced their time has come quite yet in the world of skydiving.
  2. Jessops have a half price sale on these at the moment - they are £12.50. I believe you can get them on e-bay at arround the £20 mark. The jessops lenses are kenko lenses with "jessops" stamped on the side instead of "kenko" but they are the exact same lenses in the exact same packaging. I just bought one for my pc101. Very nice lens and I've heard good things about them. Do a search and you'll see plenty of comments about them. I concluded they are a great entry-level lens and at this price who could say no?
  3. on a rig without cut in laterals the lateral webing (bit going horizontally from top of leg straps to bottom of container) go straight to the outside edge of the container. With cut in latterals they dont go straight to the edge but attach at a point a few inches in from the side. This way you essentially have a webbing belt on which has the rig attached to it. Supposed to be more comfortable and certainly allows far less movement of your rig on your back. edit: see this PIC
  4. He fits in the front boot too! (He's an incredibly skinny fuck)
  5. isnt that what happens AFTER you've been drinking a lot - some of your stomach lining gets an outing?
  6. one of my law lecturer back at uni was stopped for driving in the 2+ lane. When asked why he responded "beacuse I didnt see you". He gets a ticket of course but then being a good professor of law turns up, gets it overturned and is awarded costs. My parents and I lived in Poland for a while during the later 70's and early 80's back when it was still Communist. My mother in her western car (and with her lead foot) was often stopped by police and given a Mandat (officially an on-the-spot fine but in practice a way for the officers to line their pockets with western currencey). She would haggle them down to a reasonable figure (yes haggle), pay her $$ or ££ and drive off not caring as it was peanuts. One time they wouldnt budge as much as usual so she sent me (small kid at time) to piss up against thier car. I dutifully obeyed my mother like a good little boy and pissed all up the side of their cruiser.
  7. hehehehe that lobby brings back memories of sitting there at 3 in the morning with the courtesy phone ringing random guests.... er... no one here got a phone call from someone with a russian accent asking about bacon sandwiches at 3am last year did they?
  8. not this girl - here she is in a somwhat less posed shot
  9. pretentious... hell myah - it has a fuck off statue of neptune (or something) in its lobby and the whole place is layed out like its a street outside with little shop windows and the like.
  10. Have you looked at it from inside the take cover? Some models for example the webbing can be unclipped from inside. Maybe the handle is the same and you can get at its workings from inside the cover. (or try contacting sony). (don't know - have not seen - a guess based on my cam).
  11. Her septum (the middle bit of skin that divides you nose into nostrills) fell out cos she snorted too much coke. Now she just has the gaping hole in the front of her face if you see her from slightly below. (rumours are that she's now swiched to pepsi)
  12. apparently they dont work at altitude. the hard drive reader head rests on a tiny bed of air. at altitude the air is too thin for this to work and it quits. (so im told)
  13. Next best to that can only be the colt 1911 .45 ACP at 80 years.
  14. holy crap, been there, got the t-shirt and the nervous twitch.... stalking too. Damn, some people should come with health warnings.
  15. I love that - "hey how-bowt we get some of those anti-aircraft gun thingamies, mount em up back and give 'em a taste of their own medicine... hell why not use a bit of artillery too?"
  16. Come on dude, seriously. I know your posts better than that - you're not normally prone to making such wild statements about things you yourself admit you have no knowledge. You haven't even seen S/L training never mind done any. You learn a hell of a lot more than how to fall out of the plane. In fact I would suggest you have those the wrong way round - AFF learn to fall out of a plane - S/L learn to exit a plane. All in all you gain the same skills and two newbies from each system at 35 jumps will be virtually indistinguishable. But the S/L student will be able to get out stable and pull straight out the door... not many AFF's are taught this - hell a hop&pop is often done at 5k!!! There is plenty of freefall training in S/L, it just comes later after the students have demonstrated basic life saving skills like exiting, pulling and stability.
  17. Total Questions: 100 Questions answered Yes: 71 Maximum possible Score: 100 Score: 72 Percent impurity: 72 Percent purity: 28 Explanation: You answered "yes" to 72 of 100 questions, making you 72% Sex100 (28% non-Sex100); that is, you are 72% in the sex domain (your purity is 28%). Is that good or bad?
  18. I always joked with my friends that one day I would see an American claim they invented the wheel. Now I have seen it. Thankyou.
  19. does that count for the use of slinks and mains?
  20. mathmatically yes - physically no. Its where mathmatics and reality part.
  21. I have my ticket on me - it says the to arrive for the dinner at 7.30 for 8. And the dance is 10.30 till late.
  22. didnt say all the atoms were "paper" atoms - just that you would have a stack of "atoms". The atoms of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen etc etc would be all mixed up - end to end you would have the constituant parts of paper. you wouldnt be able to see it front end on. looking at it from the side you would probably still not see it cos it would let all the light through (it being only one atom thick an all) but if you could see it im guessing you would see what looked like paper. This is of course asssuming you could prevent all those individual atoms from just floating off.
  23. The bonfire incident did not get a darwin award. It was nominated but did not qualify. According to the people who judge the Darwins their decision was not to give it an award or even an honourable mention as they did not feal the deceaseds actions were stupid. They state their conclusion was nothing to do with the ammount of lobbying done by Aggieland folk but on an objective review of the event. (I do not know what happend in the "bonfire incident" Im just relating what is on the Darwin website).
