Women are involved in more accidents that men. That is a fact. It is also a fact that men are involved in more expensive accidents. Overall, men are significantly more expensive. Statistically women have more accidents but those accidents are far less serious. Women tend have minor prangs, scuff bumpers, take out 3/4 lights etc and cause shunts. Men on the other hand are more likely to be involved in the major accidents involving more serious injuries and written off cars. It is suggested that this is linked to our basic biological differences in that women tend to have poorer spatial awareness than men (thus minor prangs), and men’s tend to take more risks and be more aggressive (thus major accidents). Women are also statistically poorer at making snap decisions, which it is suspected contributes to their involvement in more minor fender benders. The above is taken from data in relation to which sex is involved in each kind of accident. There is no data as to which sex causes the accident. Such data would in fact be far more useful but it is sadly not available. It is theorised that women cause slightly more accidents than they are involved in. It is also theorised that the aged cause a statistically significant number of accidents by comparison to the number in which they are actually involved.

Didn't they get that guy... ??? Don't think his punishment amounted to much though, kinda encourages this kinda thing. -
Because I don't WANT a f*cking 'B' license!!!

That's cool. It means you've already learned the lifesaving skill and you're not ignorant of anything. Thusly my comments are not relevant - but had you not, I would have stood by them. -

She's not choosing to not get a license. I don’t have a word to say to someone who doesn't want a certain license – it’s only bit of paper, even if it does allow you to do certain things. What she has said however is that she's chosen not to learn how to save her own life in the event of a water landing. If she does not have that knowledge then by definition she is ignorant of it. There is no insulting or sinister meaning behind the word "ignorant", it simply means that she does not know about water EP's. Since she has actually chosen not to know that information as opposed to having the decision made for her, that lack of knowledge is self-imposed. One might even describe it as "self imposed ignorance". And I do feel sorry for people who voluntarily chose not to learn all they can about their own safety. They might die because of that choice. -
So that's three competing AAD companies who have either been sued or threatened with a lawsuit by Airtec. Well, you can’t really expect anything else given the money involved... but it does kinda suck that a company we respect so much for doing what they have in the name of our safety is out there spending money trying to prevent any further increases in our safety through either innovation or a reduction in unit cost. Cheers Airtec... I just don't know if I should be sarcastic in my toast or not.

Man you broke the cardinal rule! All that and you didn't even think to set up a video camera on yourself first. Call yourself a skydiver!?

For all of you who get so worked up about your election... take a moment to release that energy in a non-destructive way. http://www.miniclip.com/knockout.htm

The girlfriend's not allowed on the plane with me.

You can get patches for Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 which allow you to select a man under a canopy as a plane and allow you to sellect famous DZ's such as Perris as the airport. Apparently someone's done quite a good job of it too from what I hear - ie all the physics and flight characteristics are supposed to be about right. No freefall though and I guess slowly decending for a few minutes before restarting the game could get a bit boring.

Hmmm.... let me think..... yup, I think this is a first for me. I've never actually seen with my own eyes someone getting so animated about the concept of self imposed ignorance. Odd really. [lies on floor kicking heals] "I don't wanna learn, I don't wanna learn, I don't wanna learn". Why not do your water training and learn something new and life saving then not put in for your B so you still get to make your little "political" statement? I feel sorry for you that you have this attitude. -
Thankyou - I'm the lower one taking the toe dock.

So what we have here is a product working entirely as designed and within its stated parameters...

hehehe are we allowed to take that as a personal attack? There is an unnecessary amount of venom in your post. Now where was that post about penis envy...? T'was an inside job my dear. I'm sure that even you could get into the Whitehouse if you had a letter from little Georgy saying that you could. -
I have addressed the issue raised. I've pointed out that whilst you are quite welcome to conclude whatever you like, I think you have come to that conclusion not through flawed logic, but by virtue of some quite fatally flawed premises.

No one ever remembers my screen name. Whenever I meet people in real life they always go "Oh yeah - "Mister two something-or-other" or "M.R.2. mumble mumble mumble..." Oh well...

(sorry if this annoys creationists but...) That's due to evolution. Having your knees hurt would serve no useful purpose. Having your lungs supplied with more blood and having your breathing increase gives you more O2 so you are stronger and faster. Having your heart pump faster and harder gets that O2 to your muscles faster and more efficiently, as does having your muscles engorged with blood. Cutting the blood supply to your stomach and bowel increases the volume of blood available to your muscles for running/fighting - it's not like it's needed urgently in your stomach at the time anyway. You might even shit yourself in extreme circumstances - that's just extra weight your carrying anyway. Knees hurting... nah - no use to it, so we don't display that response.
-
We keep telling you - it's because your body is effected by hormones and other chemicals released by glands such as your pituitary gland when you "feel" certain emotions. EG anger - you'll release adrenaline which will cause vasodilation close to your skin an in your muscles possibly causing your skin to go red. You might feel hot, your heart rate may increase, blood vesels to your stomach and bowel will constrict and this may give you butterflies or you might feel sick. Your breathing may increase and blood flow to your lungs may increase giving you a funny feeling in your chest - one might describe it as elation... These are things controlled by your autonomic nervous system and you don't have full conscious control over this system. Your thoughts however are not part of this system... you can fully control those. You don't CHOSE to release adrenaline - you don't CHOSE to increase your heart beat. You can chose to ignore your racing heart and sweaty palms though and think about something else. Thus the two systems are not intrinsically linked - on a basic biological level.
-
I think I would describe that as the ability to chose not to be effected by it - I do that... but the ability to actually bring on an emotion, or to completely dispell an emotion... that I would term control... I do not have that... that truly would be a gift.
-
by "shit" I could clarify that this catagory includes the instances where errors or malfuntions compound one another. eg one error or malfunction is often, if not usually not enough to kill... the problem is that you might be real unlucky and have two or three that combine to kill you. You could jump 5 times and have each error/malfunction happen on its own on each individual jump. But "shit" says that sometimes someone's gonna get all 5 in one go and that's when they die. Some people might refer to "shit" as luck, or whatever... but it happens.
-
So you say your emotions and your thoughts are inextricably linked, we covered that already - what you think you feel... but you also say that you can't control your emotions - they happen irrespective of what you think.... why are these two concepts compatable?
-
Sorry - now the punch line: ehem [drum roll] A: Don't pay her....
-
So by adjusting your thoughts do you then adjust your emotions? If so you have full control over your emotions - that truly is a gift.
