  1. Just download the content. You have reasonable use rights as you own the CD. Yes this is an arse way round to have to do things.
  2. First step probably involves buying some open toed sandals... or some item made from wicker.
  3. Well I'm going to ask that she apologises to men across the world for making up a story that accuses a man. Who wants to demand an apology on behalf of the "white community" because it included a white person? Can a third person demand an apology on behalf of womankind as her story also included a woman. Can someone else in Alberquerque demand an apology on behalf of the city as it's obviously a dangerous place to go. And finally someone from the bus company should demand an apology for the fact that she appears to be intimating that it's dangerous to travel on busses. All of the above are equally relevant.
  4. no I don't want to tune in to Julia FM. Stop advertising at me asshat.
  5. Error 99 on the 300D is when you are using an incompatible lens. Most commonly an older Sigma. The camera is not able to make it have the aperture setting it wants to use. I am pretty sure the same problem would exist with the 350d. If this is the problem you can have your lens re-chipped by Sigma to work with the digital camera. If it's not the lens then I'm out of ideas.
  6. yup - the US is a hardcore capitalist country espousing open competition until it comes to looking at things on a global scale when they suddenly switch to hardcore socialists with overtly protectionist policies.
  7. What was your fall rate doing throughout that? Where was your friend relative to you? Saw a video of a 4-way team lose an alti once. Flew straight up at a hell of a speed straight at the video. Camera man didn't even flinch. Then the team finished and broke off and camera guy reaches into left wing and retrieves an alti, proudly displaying his new trophy to the camera. Also saw my friend had his goggles flip up on a 3 way sit jump. Congratulated him on maintaining perfect fall rate (balled up) with the other two flyers while he put them back on. I'd wouldn't want to freefly with him if he'd been flipping from belly to sit to his back as he tried to sort the problem.

    Hunting ban

I completely agree with the findings of the report, though I come to this conclusion through my own experience rather than relying on it. The one problem I see with trying to put any great weight on this report is that it was commissioned by a group called the "Middle Way" who were suggesting a pretty good compromise of licensing hunts rather than banning them. Personally I think this middle way would have been the best idea – it preserved the sport while gave the licensing authority the teeth to prevent the sort of abuse of the system that ended up causing the ban in the first place. At the end of the day though, since the people who conducted the report are so heavily opposed to the ban, it's going to be difficult for any group to hold it up as having any true weight. The other problem I see is that this research may well end up biting them on the arse. Remember approximately 300,000 foxes are killed each year. Only 20,000 were killed by hunts while they were legal. If some smelly tree hugger can find enough fingers to work it all out, they will realise that even while hunts were legal there were a hell of a lot of foxes getting shot at and wounded... thus the bigger quarry is not the increase in suffering... but the fact that suffering is taking place on such a scale. That's not exactly the kind of report I would have commissioned if I were them.
  9. Just posted elswhere but here you are anyway - a bird that decided to try and fly stright through a window of my house. Camera: Cannon 300d. Medium: my bloody window Subject: hahahahaha Date: Last night
  10. I have never seen anything quite so amazing as the image I found on the window of my spare room yesterday. Saturday night I was sat by this window photographing an electrical storm... and this wasn't there then. Then Monday morning it had appeared. Guess the poor bugger thought he could fly right into my spare room. I'm pretty sure it was an owl... but there was no sign of it in my garden so it must have survived and made its way home. Figuring out the correct lighting to get the shot to come out took the best part of a day and I must have fired off a couple of hundred shots trying to get it to come out right. Without lighting it was barely visible to the eye, never mind the camera. Imagine what must have gone through its mind about a second before it created this image.
  11. Yeah - a chuffing great kukri at the head of the bed. Plus there's a SMLE mkIII* leaning up against the wardrobe that would scare the shit out of anyone at the bottom of the stairs. If I'm really mad I could always whack one of the 18" P07 bayonet’s on the front of it too. edited to add picky of SMLE + bayonet - (that's NOT me by the way).
  12. I think the most important point that we're all missing though is how well can you swing them?
  13. Yeah - our laws are identical on that point. I suspect thats simply because they come from a time when we had a common legal system. Hell we still have active case law on assult and battery from pre independance times. In fact - I wonder if you guys use the same case - recognise Turberville v Savage 1669 and the phrase "were it not assize time..."?
  14. A better analogy would be someone punching you without your permission in your own home and then you saying – "ah it's ok" afterwards. That is an assault and battery period. You did not consent at the time, thus a crime was committed. Sure afterwards you said not to worry about it, but that does not change the tenor of the act at the time it was done, it simply means the crime that was committed will go un-reported or if the police do find out, the victim won't press charges... but it does not mean the crime did not happen. Now if you said "don't hit me" but actually didn't mind and privatly you were consenting but just lying to your attacker (playing some kind of mind game, whatever) - that's where things become interesting legally... as the person doing the punching has all done everything they need to do to committ a crime... it just so happens that unbeknown to them they haven't as the other consents. Under the right circumstances, they may just find that they are guilty of a crime... even though perversly they actually haven't committed any crime. I suspect this might vary from place to place though.
  15. Yep. Yet at the same time it wasn't an assault. The point being; the words people are discussing here have very specific legal meanings which the average man on the street generally does not appreciate. This ignorance of the precise meaning can lead to a degree of misuse of the word and you end up with silly arguments just like this one.
  16. so she has a prosthetic leg... like thats a reason to laugh at her.
  17. One does have to wonder then what they expected Iraq to do with them.
  18. Try DZ sports at Hinton. They're a Vortex stockists but I have no idea how much they keep in stock in the way of parts. Worth a call in any case: 01295 812101
  19. Bill, for the first time, you didn't make sense to me. Is everything okay? First, we've already sold F16s to Israel. Second, Israel's more immediate need/assessment for these types of weapons are more effective a deterrent against Syria. Third, Isreal is not going to strike Iran, not while we have significantly better assets available and are already the "bad guy" in the region. I think he was intimating that the US would be likely to sell F16's to Korea because there was a new enemy we liked less... ie just like we sold WMD to Iraq even though we knew they were bastards simply because we thought Iran were a bigger bunch of bastards.
  20. Yeah UK - Cark (North West Parachute Centre). See this pic I posted a while ago in the PAC in the USA thread for a fairly good shot of the float bar/step on the plane they have at Cark. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=29960; It's a bit dark but you can see a foot and a half long step rear and above the huge step that's directly below the door.
  21. Only Pac I've jumped had one of the biggest steps I've seen on a jump plane. Guess that's an option which a couple at least don't have. As for run in speed you could probably get off and track faster.
  22. that definitely needs a "BOOM BOOM".
