How about this - I only just bought myself a DVD player after all this time. And only then because it plays DivX! Before then I simply hooked my TV into the home network and played movies straight off the PC.

[raises hand] Yeah, that or "dropping the kids off at the pool". How about, you can speed type markup tags?

Concorde stopped making money because people didn't care so much about luxury and speed as they did about getting there fore cheap. That's what the A380's going to do best - getting there cheap. I think that the same force is at work in both events. The A350's behind because they quit working on it to get the A380 up and running. Maybe that was an error as they might have ended up handing the smaller field market to Beoing. Maybe they won't care if they start making megabucks off the A380.

True. Humphries pinned him down nicely though. That guys a great interviewer. I just loved the way he exclaimed "HOME SECRETARY!!!" in such a shocked way when Straw tried to explain that the AG advice wasn't put to the Cabinet as required because it wasn't "correspondence" but "written advice". hehe

That's a very wide question. It's difficult to predict the injuires. I've got a bit of experiance as I deal with people's injuries arrising out of accidents professionally and I know that 10 very similar accidents can produce 10 very different sets of injuries. I'll give it a go anyway. Prefaced with the fact that I fly a PD160r at about 1.4 (without taking into account PD's odd reserve measurements). 1a) probably fine. (as an example to what I've already said though I might wake up with grass stains or might die in the field with a broken neck from this one... but I figure probably just bruises and strains... probably). 1b) probably injured. You're travelling at approx 15mph. Maybe a lot more as a canopy will tend to head down wind without input. 15mph - 0 with no crumple zones padding etc is going to damage you. I expect broken bones to be a serious possability although I'm limp so I may be ok. Head injuries are the worst risk here. 2a) pfft. that's an odd Q. What's minimal input? A bit of a flair? probably fine if I'm not going to hit hazzards. 2b) assuming in my "all fucked up state" I have the force of mind to use one hand on both toggles. If so I doubt I'd have much more problem than2a). If not see 1a)... unless there are obsticles in which case see 1b). Then again... my reserve's not that small. And if you take into account the PD measuring differences it's even bigger than my main.

Did anyone else listen to John Humphries this morning on Radio 4? Christ the Home Secretary got a grilling. There's going to be some fall out for the Government from that interview that's for sure. I wonder how swiftly they can back peddle on the admissions and comments he made... or if they even can given the constitutional significance of some of them. It was also very nice to finally have a politician enunciating exactly my conserns over the Iraq war and challenging the Government on the matter - well done the Conservatives. It was almost a pity that John Humphries took over the grilling so Jack Straw didn't get a chance to answer the charges. Not what they want during an election campaign. If you didn't hear it you can listen online here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain/ram/today4_straw_20050428.ram

In the UK she would have still gone down (no pun intended). It would simply have been called sexual assult. I suspect the same would be true of many jurisdictions.

Was SCOTUS responsible for slavery in the Americas?

Kunta Kinte had a funny name. -
I now know why they call it an opening "sequence" as opposed to an opening "event".

The aerodyne packing manual is silent on what you do with the nose so I presume you simply let it hang there. For sure there's no need to roll it though. I've done both hang the nose and pushed it into the pack job slightly with no appreciable difference. See what the makers say here: http://www.aerodyne-int.com/download/Aerodyne_maincanopies_manual_A4.pdf

Just made pretty much the same switch as you - exe 170 (v similar to sabre) to pilot 168. Are you still packing your pilot like you did the sabre? There's no need to roll the nose at all on the pilot as you would the sabre. Doing so may well cause very long openings and possible off heading openings.

Young chap successfully argued that at court over here at the tail end of last year. Adduced an experts report proving the car was physically incapable of doing the speed the cop claimed. Report probably cost more than the fine but hey, he got to stick two metaphorical fingers up at the cop.

of the suit or the poo?

Increasing penalties as a deterrent can be a double edged sword. If you push penalties up for motoring offenses, (ie offenses that most everyone in the country commits), conviction rates drop dramatically. Juries don't like sending people to jail for something when it could just as easily be them in the dock.

Is This Really What We Want To Teach Our Kids?
mr2mk1g replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
Hitler Capitalist Youth. A tongue in cheek comment perhaps, but the parallels are there. Besides, what ever happened to reporting crime as part of your civic duty? -
19. Q: Why were you driving in the +1 lane? A: I didn't see you. (genuine answer given by one of my lecturers back at law school - he fought the ticket on a technicality for a laugh and won with costs). Nice guy - nickname was Snape-Doggy-Dog as his name was Professor Snape.

You could certainly get them on several civil causes of action - there's even case law on psychological injuries sustained where someone plays a joke on another telling them their husband died. As for criminal I wouldn't like to guess about the US laws.
-
Exactly. Thus we have no idea where they're from. Whoever is doing it though is a complete cunt.
-
Exactly. No - the one thing that is know is that they calls left a UK caller ID. That doesn't nessaserily mean they originated in the UK.
-
Evidently they're also flying over to the US, donning military uniform and hiring a black SUV before actually visiting people in person.
-
That's disgusting

Man would I feel dumb if I tried to tell miners how to improve their safety. I don' know anything about mining. -
It's my job to argue about and assign blame. I get paid to do it every day. A lot of money and guilt change hands as a result. As unpalatable as this may seem, sometimes shit just happens. I don't know if this is the case here... but it is most certainly not true to say that someone is always to blame.

Didn't you see the episode of Futurama where they'd trained a Lion to live off tofu... although it was stood there all skin and bones gently coughing to itself.
