I thought the conclusion of the other thread was that: Rig + shit load of scotchguard in one application = Bad idea... not that it had that much to do with your rig being an infinity... which is made with the same material as most other rigs out there. ?

How about using a number of rectangular blocks in a wind tunnel/computer model? Use one large block for the body and 4 smaller blocks representing the legs. Simply model the lift/drag etc of the blocks arranged in an almost straight line (as in during a conventional track) then model the lift/drag etc of the blocks arranged in an atmonauti position. Because they're blocks you still produce figures you can work with (I presume) but you're also producing results which should broadly mirror those which you might expect in real flight. Then repeat at different angles etc and find the best for each. A comparison of the results of the best position obtained from each should show which is "better" - atmonauti or tracking.

We get similar questions on here quite often. You'll find people are always happy to help out and you'll get a load of great ideas and help with your project... but you gotta give us somewhere to start. What are you trying to prove/show/study?? Or is that where you want help? Do you want ideas on what you might be able to focus on? Even then though give us an idea of how extensive this project is going to be... or we might just come up with topics which require several years to look into

but does the drunk have the right to bear arms in a school? Should the drunk have that right?

No... not yet at least. There are 25 member states and the constitution requires unanimous ratification if it is to take effect from Nov 2006 as planned. If only 20 out of the 25 ratify the constitution then there will be a summit to discuss what to do. So far the process has been 9 in favor and 2 against... although most of the 9 were by parliamentary vote as opposed to referenda. They can't really start tinkering with the constitution now for two reasons. Firstly because it took years of argument to get the constitution as is to a point where all the member states representatives agreed upon it. Changing it now is a major task, a task Brussels won't want to undertake unless it really has to. There's also the small matter of the 9 who have already ratified it. They'd be kinda pissed if the constitution was changed after they agreed to it. Effectively they'd probably have to re-ratify the document. To get the constitution stopped or changed will take either another 4 "no" votes to guarantee killing it or changes at the summit stage once at least another 11 member states vote "yes".

Does this right extend to a drunk walking through a school?

Pedal from his push bike was 20m up the road. The seat was on one side of the road, the rest of the bike on the other. Kid was fine thankfully although reportedly went through two full cartwheels before hitting the ground. Ended up with literally nothing more than a couple of bumps.

I've dealt professionally with a chap who smashed his head in against a road sign last year and wound up dead. Of course he had been doing 100mph on his motorbike just prior to hitting the damn thing and only came off his bike because he hit a kid while doing a wheely.

'Course for the pratchet fan it would be standing on top of a hill during a thunderstorm wearning wet copper armour shouting "the God's are all bastards".

Man, you guys sure know how to muck up a relatively simple thread about Japanese Kamikaze. The likelihood is we are pretty much incapable of fully understanding the mindset of the young men who flew their planes out to meet American fleets more than 60 years ago. Remember those men came from a society which had only 70 years previously been completely isolated from the rest of the world, embracing feudalism under the rule of the Tokugawa. Their society still believed that true warriors faced one another across a pair of katana or nodachi. Their society still had fresh in their minds a warrior code which dated back nearly a millennia. I don't mean some airy fairy old fashioned idea that is remembered back through the mists of time as we westerners see a swordsman – I mean the pilot's actual parents would have seen Bushi and Samurai walking round with swords, living their life as a warrior. Part of the warrior code embraced by that society was an incredibly strict code of honor. One which we simply don't grasp. One which drives them to commit ritualized suicide through seppuku should they be defeated or dishonored. Have none of you heard of the 47 Ronin? Read the story; maybe it will enlighten you as to some of the basic tenets of Bushido. Out of the jaws of defeat it is hardly surprising that this code turned to the concept of the kamikaze; the divine wind; the storm that destroyed the Mongol invasion fleet nearly 700 years earlier. This concept is so far removed from our western values that we don't understand it. We call it insane, stupid or worse. Sanity and stupidity is defined by the society in which we live - we don't live in that society. What is beyond comprehension to our society is simply the ultimate expression of a core belief of another. Sure we don’t understand, we're not a Japanese airman who lived through the Meiji reformation. This understanding goes on today; we just don't understand why hundreds of Japs dress up as CHIPs every weekend or why the biggest Hells Angles chapter is in Tokyo, why manga comics are so common or even tolerated, or why Karaoke is so damned popular. If you want to look for parallels between the Kamikaze and the present situation in the Middle East go ahead... although it is far from the original question which sparked this thread. Whilst the parallels are certainly there, the kamikaze and the suicide bomber probably share far less than many who've contributed to this thread obviously believe.

Kamikazes were tactically an exceptionally effective weapon. Strategically they sucked ass but that's war for you – you gotta be able to see beyond this battle to the next one. Still, that's not exactly the pilot's fault though... that error has to rest on the shoulders of their command structure.

Could take quite a while. Even though your bank may well put the money into your account within 3 days the fraud may not turn up for some time after. It may only be discovered when the cashier’s cheque is presented to the issuing bank to be redeemed by your bank. It is only at that point that the cheque is discovered to be a forgery. It is less likely that you're being scammed (though still possible) if they are only looking to pay for gear. Scammers don't want gear they want money. It is HIGHLY likely that you are being scammed if they are looking for you to return a balance of their payment to them in some way. If this is the case walk away from the deal, it’s simply not worth the risk regardless of what kind of payment they're giving you.
-
They only turned to the use of Kamikaze and Kaiten pilots in defense of their territories. Yes they were the aggressors in WWII but then ended up defending after the loss of their carrier fleet at Midway. There's no hidden meaning to the term "defense" - even bad people are allowed to adopt a defensive strategy militarily speaking.
-
Um... do you have any idea what a Kamakazi is? You talk of killing civilians and of attacking the "infidels"... are you sure you're talking about Kamikaze's or have you somehow got them confused with something that muslims are doing?

I think Blair moved the date forward as he's under pressure to get out of no. 10 sooner rather thanb later. He needs a last hurrah before leaving and the Euro vote (be it a no or yes answer) is the perfect medium. The other reason is simple politics. If the answers "yes" he wants that to his credit and can leave it as his legacy. If the answer's "no" it would be damaging to the govt. to leave the PM with such a major defeat - as it is he can leave and wipe the slate clean whereas if Brown takes us through the vote it would hang over Labour's head and give the Conservatives ground. ps I think there's very little doubt that we will vote NO just as the French did.

Muslims Murder Muslims, Blame Christian Icon
mr2mk1g replied to Sen.Blutarsky's topic in Speakers Corner
Isn't it blasphemy to refer to KFC as a "Christian Icon"? Christian Icon's are images such as the Christ, the Madonna, the crucifix etc... not a picture of the Colonel holding a chicken wing. -
Brit study calls for ban of kitchen knives

I don't agree. That was my point when I posted to this thread. This is not news - it's an article in the British Medical Journal. Anyone (without looking) want to give me the content of another article in the BMJ this month... or last... or any other month? No? Articles in the BMJ are not normally news (regardless of what they're about) unless someone or some organisation or some news agency wants to make them news. -
Brit study calls for ban of kitchen knives
mr2mk1g replied to flyingferret's topic in Speakers Corner
I didn't attack the source. I asked who in the world trawls through medical journals (the source, which I am confident is quite reputable it being the BMJ and all) for their political ideas. This is a pair of doctors addressing other doctors who read a medical journal - not a politician telling voters what his party is about to put through parliament. It is the idea that this article ought to be of any concern to anyone is the laughable one. And whoever said this harebrained idea by a pair of doctors is reasonable? If you check the other thread started a day prior to this one you'll see I think this is a stupid and unworkable suggestion. Thankfully though it's just a pair of doctors addressing other doctors in a medical journal and not a politician telling us what he's trying to get through parliament. I need not attack the content of the post because a) I made my position quite clear a day before this thread appeared and b) I don't want to attack it - the doctors have a stupid idea... that doesn't mean I can't express surprise that this otherwise innocuous article is causing so much concern to some. Ah well... twas too windy to jump today so I'm grumpy. -

Brit study calls for ban of kitchen knives

Man you can tell it was a slow news day at NRA HQ. Do you guys get a circular or something telling you about obscure articles that'll give you the willies? I'm just curious why anyone would bother going through medical journals looking for political ideas and who they are? Maybe check the other thread on the same topic just below this one in the same forum? -
