Can you say a little more about this? It seems like if all rigs will need some sort of approval, the simplest place to do that is with the rig manufacturers -- but then we wouldn't need field approvals, would we? Or, since this is an Argus thread, are you suggesting that field approvals would be a way to get around the manufacturers' disapprovals? Mark Field approval would only be needed if an AAD install was to be done by other than the manufacture. That is the way it was handled when the newer AAD’s come along. The manufactures submitted a minor change and presto. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

One of the main reasons behind a TSO is tractability of materials. That and a comprehensive QA system are in place to insure that each production unit is built to the same specifications as the one submitted for approval and testing. When one company takes over an issued TSO from another company they must also take over the historic records for materials tractability and develop a QA system that the FED’s will buy off on. The only way around this is to surrender the TSO and all related records. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

.An “A” license used to require 25 “freefalls”. Static lines didn’t count. You used to have to renew your license, at least your “D” every year and that required at least 12 jumps in the last 12 months. I don’t think tandems count toward totals for license purposes, can someone verify that. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Skydiving is always a bad gift. Too far off the center line for normal people. Get her a bottle of Gray Goose and a dildo with a kick starter. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Boy do I remember that. On one occasion I had a great idea. I went over a couple of fences and ended up at my buddy’s house playing in the crawl space under the house. A few hours later I returned home the conquering hero. Not. In about the 6th grade I got in a little trouble and they called my Dad at work to come pick me up. (He was a single parent) He walked into the Principal office, looked at me and said get in the car we’ll talk later. As I was scurrying out of the Ad Min. building I could hear him laying into the Principal. Something about if you have a problem with Michael handle it. I don’t have time to leave work, come up here and do your job. To say the least that was one of those interesting evenings spent at home that you will always remember. You young pup, I remember when they were $24 and the pack came with a book of matches and a penny taped to the pack. We would play war with tops but jacks and hop scotch was for girls and sissies. In most cases they were made to take it a step at a time. You were taught basic survival skills before moving on. Now jumpers don’t spot, pack their own gear and depend on electronic gizmos to whisper in their ear when it is time to pull. And if you forget they are sure an AAD with save their life. They think they are all going to be like the guys they see in the magazines, never giving a thought to how long and how much work it took the best to get to that position. And it isn’t just HP canopies it’s an attitude, a culture killing jumpers. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Any cutter unit has the potential for failure in any known or yet-unknown manner. This particular failure mode is possible for any cutter only when the cutter is above the reserve deployment bag. The location causes the failure mode to exist. If you want to avert yourself from this failure mode, you can purchase a container that allows for installation of the AAD's cutter at the base of the pack tray, get a puller type AAD, or go with the tried and true method of pulling your own handles. In regards to those with comments about politics going on, it will be interesting for you to learn that the esteemed reverend Booth solely owns Vigil USA: Florida Secretary of State Because of your chosen “username” and the fact that you attack from the dark your post and your opinion is worthless in my opinion. It was more than likely a closed film shoot with sanitized air space for a certain period of time and a second plane flying top cover. A guy holding a SAG stuntman’s card is doing the aerial work with a SAG pilot flying. They can be issued a blanket waiver that may even have included using the back straightway for landing and takeoff. USPA has no say in the matter.
