Would you mind defining "master". Is that 100 flat jumps? 1000 jumps? Being good enough to get on invitational big way jumps? Breaking a 20 point average in 4-way? Winning the nationals in AAA? What? How about making smooth consistent zero momentum docks. As a belly flier, I don't do hybrids anymore because I'm sick and tired of being gut slammed by too many freefliers who can't seem to slow down before they dock. It not only hurts, it's dangerous. The best freefliers are also graceful belly fliers, I'm just talking about the kids who skip ahead to skidding around on their asses and think they're skydiving. +1 Good call Tom. Wrong. If you are going slower than the flow of traffic you can get a ticket. I have seen it happen. Sparky (b.) If a vehicle is being driven at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at such time, and is not being driven in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand edge or curb, it shall constitute prima facie evidence that the driver is operating the vehicle in violation of subdivision (a) of this section. Wrong. In CA it is against the law to impede the flow of traffic. In many cases it is a tell tale sign of driving under the influence. Sparky http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc21654.htm My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Just like in Skydiving, too much drama. Governing bodies making decisions for reasons other than the best interest of the individual members. Too much concern with top competitors and too little effort going to the needs of the average member. Seems to be the common theme for most sports governing bodies. Dave and Terry died in 1987 or 1988. The only AAD’s available they were things like the FXC 12000, the HI Tek 8000, SSE Sentinel and the 2MPZ KAP if you could find one. Cypres came on the market in 1991 so my guess is that they were not using one. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

But handling a malfunction or any emergency situation is part of AFF training. Maybe the most important part. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

Sgt. now this guy is the one you want to listen to. He has an answer for most of the world’s problems. I bet he knows enough in 2 years to rewrite the SIM. It’s just a shame that the AFF-I and rigger you dealt with failed to learn the things jrjuy has by “thinking for himself”. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
People say that a lot and I don't think it is true. As long as you can track and be stable at pull time there is nothing wrong with not mastering belly flying if it holds no interest for you. Since you choose to post anonymously it’s hard to know where you are coming from. But if you disagree with that statement you would be wrong. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Army T-11 Grounded Following Fatality
mjosparky replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was around when some of the initial testing was done by ParaFlite. This was before Airborne Systems bought them. The T-11 is just a modified cruciform canopy. From what I recall you could pack it with your boot and it would open fine. I think they are looking a wide spread rigging problem that won’t be fixed by modifying the canopy. Sparky A little background. ParaFlite was competing with Irivn for the ATPS contract in the late 90’s. There were some pretty tight specs that need to be met. Before all the testing was completed Airborne Systems bought both companies for less than the contract was worth. Thus insuring they would win the competition. Now we have "cocoon lock"? Gets more interesting all the time. Got more unusual names? Bag Wrap - Deployment bag stays wrapped around the parachute PC Drag - PC follows behind you being dragged along Candy Cane - when colored strings get twisted around each other (CrW knows about this) Bad Boobies (Store-bought) - when a bubble of canopy on one side of the pinch-off is larger than the bubble on the other side Slave Cylinder Leak - when the braking system goes mushy on one side Flaming Monstrosity- when pyro goes bad And all of the above can be fixed or prevented with a bottle of un-fuck. Maybe my memory isn't so good, but I thought the FAA has always required tandems to be conducted in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements even before they "approved" it (as in not by experimental waiver), which I think have required AAD's for many years. Am I getting that wrong or do I not understand the details? I really don't have an answer for you. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
