  2. If the manufacture says it does not fit why would you go on line shopping a different opinion? UPT just might know what they are talking about. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  5. MIKE YOU STUD YOU It has come to my attention that 1383 is in fact NOT Mike. I might just have to start inspections at various DZ's to try and find it. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. Ok...who ratted me out. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  7. http://www.emsgrivory.com/mytools/datenblaetter/datenblaetter/grilamid_tr/TR_90_E.pdf Quote: "Grilamid TR grades are transparent thermoplastic polyamides based on aliphatic and cycloaliphatic blocks."Oh, well that explains everything! I think I'll just go with "plastic". John, you are so 80's.
  8. Who is Dixon? What is "military rang"? And what really is "TR-90"? http://www.emsgrivory.com/mytools/datenblaetter/datenblaetter/grilamid_tr/TR_90_E.pdf Still working on Dixon and "military rang". Sparky It seems you can pay a lot more for the same thing. http://www.ussportseyewear.com/product.php/121/rx-extreme-sports-goggles-sunglasses-prescription My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. I understand what you are saying, but making charts based on the surface area of the canopy instead of the packing volume is not right. 2 canopies from the same size can have different packing volume by a lot. ( I'm sure you know that better than me, but I'm just trying to explain to others why this is not a good idea ) The way to go is giving the packing volume for the rig size. Like Basic Air, Jump Shack, Rigging Innovations , and leaving it up to the rigger to decide which model and size reserve will go into that rig. With all that said, it still won't be good enough You are right. I should have used something like these for an example. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Guess a D license ain't what it use to be. +1 I guess “expert” doesn’t mean what it used to. Sparky http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/mjosparky/Skydiving/DLic.jpg My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. Attached are published canopy sizes for container sizes. A rigger is obligated to work within these limitations. To pack a reserve canopy that is larger than the specs. given by the manufacture could be viewed as a violation of the TSO. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. I didn't know you're an English teacher, Carsten. Heh heh But for a more serious reply: I only object to writing without a minimal standard. Full stops (periods), capital letters and apostrophes are necessary for easy reading. It also helps "them furreiners" reading and writing here to understand (or at least to read and comprehend articles faster.) Some folks say they can't be bothered to use the Shift-key, indent paragraphs etc as this "only consumes time." Well, writing in a way that requires more time on the "consumer's" side (reading) may look c00l but after all it's selfish and some old farts who still believe in something called netiquette even consider it asocial... So it got less to do with teaching a certain subject than with adhering to basic standards of text production that are already taught in grade 6 or 7. +1 It is lazy and selfish. 17. Of course he was out of control!!! If someone was in control and trying to deploy a reserve, why would they be on their back? Because everyone is not as cool as you are.

  20. The answer is yes and no. If you have enough altitude, it can potentially work its way out unassisted by the jumper but its not guaranteed. Here is outside video of a jumper on his back with reserve PC and freebag in tow until it clears itself. Fast forward to the 1:24 mark and look to the upper left hand corner of the screen. http://vimeo.com/6834669 Bottom line, don't deploy your reserve on your back, its a crap shoot and anyones guess what will happen.
