  1. This is why I'm just not so nervous about losing the insurance. It can't happen because USPA cant exist without it, just like you said. Losing the demo insurance sucks, but it just doesn't directly affect the majority of USPA members. But the insurance for the rest of us can't just be dropped. It sure sounds like it's going to change, but I don't think the USPA is ready to drop it completely and therefore disband. I sure hope the next Parachutist has some answers to all of this. Dave You just keep thinging that way. They also said Nixon would never resign. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. I agree. Similar to an A & P has to pack the drogue chutes on Lear jets, not a rigger. Of course it makes sense to have a rigger pack it and an A & P supervise and sign it off. Derek Derek, We both know how the FAA feels about things that make sense. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. Jumps are made above 15,000 without O2 all the time. It is not smart but it is done. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. Question:"If your first chute fails, how long do you have to pull your reserve"? Answer: The rest of your life? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  6. Any work done on seat belt or anything else in or on anairplane has to be done by an A&P. Riggers work on parachutes. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. Why are you doing a poll. You know in the back of your mind that the decision has been made. A case of beer the canopy with be on order within 2 weeks. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. I think your problem is you are living with "girls". I have found that when they become women they are very tidy and quite pleasant to live with. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  10. I totality agree with you that being in shape can save you life. If we run into each other sometime I will buy you a cool one and try to explain it better. Be Safe Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  12. Being in shape is not going to prevent centrifugal force from getting the best of you. At a little over l g. you will not be able to lift you arms. That said, being in shape will increase your enjoyment and performance in any activity. And as you said, it does not take that much effort. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  17. Yes, that sure looks like a PC in tow. In the first picture it appears that you pin is out and you are on you back. Did you deploy on your back or roll over dealing with the problem? If the pin is in fact out it would be interesting to know what was holding the bag in the container. Glad things worked out for you. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. Gary, No way was I implying you were stupid. Having spent 15 years as a fire dept. paramedic I understand the nature of your condition. I was concerned that you might not appreciate how serious it could be. That said, I am really sorry that this has happened and put you on the ground. Many years ago an injury grounded me for several weeks. Just that time drove me nuts. I think you will find the most flight surgeons will also be in the dark. (i am a pilot) Look around in your area for a Dr. who jumps or one not in your area that will talk with, off line, about it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. It can happen to any size canopy. I jump a 245 sw. ft. 7 cell and several years ago has it spool up enough to force my head forward. The cutaway and reserve pull went off without a hitch. What I was worried about was centrifugal force keeping me from bring my hands up to the handles. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. Lift is not a result of the number of cells but the effective area of the wing. A 300 sq. ft. canopy could have 22 cells or 9 cells and the lift area would be the same. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. A rigger who would knowingly vary that far from manufactures instructions is not only dangerous but in violation of FAR-65 for doing do. This willingness to "wing it" shows a mind set that needs to be addressed with more than a phone call. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
