  1. Correct!...I just wanted to point out that an RSL is not a perfect device...Nor is an AAD..They are better than nothing 99% of the time, but both can cause problems. I just hate it when I hear some new (and some old) jumper say that they are "safe" since they have "X" cool toy. Skydiving equipment can save you or kill you depending on hundereds of variables...I just want people to know both the good, the possible bad, and the chances of either happening with any gear choice. Not to just blindly make a choice. Ron Watch it, that's way to close to what I posted! My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. A swoop is leaving late, diving to the formation, stopping in your slot and then taking grips. All done in one smooth "Swoop". My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. So if a couple get divorced in Texas... are they still brother and sister? t Only in the eyes of the law! My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. Do you know what a tornado and divorce in Texas have in common? You know somebody is going to lose a trailer. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. You are right, we could argue this point forever. In the mean time how many newer jumpers read what has been posted and realized there are options in this sport and they need to make every effort to educate themselves in all aspects of skydiving. Only then can they make wise decision on what options are right for them. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. Thom, It is a small world. If you went to Brooks do you remember Tommy Owens. He was in some of the early stars and also went to Brook. Bill Smith was my first jump instructor, June 1976. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. You are right, it was Jimmy Tyler. He did it twice, once landing under one canopy after hooking up with Bill Parsons. They left from different A/C. The second time he caught and hooked into a rig thrown from another A/C. Dar Robinson did a plane to plane jump, but he wasn't the first on that. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Isn't the "F111-type" fabric currently used 0-3cfm? I stand corrected, you are right. Thanks. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Thanks for being there so we could sleep at night. If I run into you at a DZ you got a jump on me. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Bill probably does more testing then most and I have no doubt that if there was even a hint of a design problem it would have been addressed "right now". But there appears to have been some kind of problem with two rig. If Malfunction could provide names, ser. # and how to contact it would more than likely turn out to be a misunderstanding. In any case it needs to be resolved. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  12. First jump, June 13, 1976, A lic. Dec. 4, 1976 with 26 jumps. But it was harder then, it was before they invented gravity. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. I recently built a recovery system for 2 brothers in Ca. Their toy stood 23 ft. tall and was 18 in. in dia. It was 2 stage and I recovered it with 2 26 ft. Con. and a 18 ft. cross form. I do not know what size the motors where but the first stage had 6 of them. If I knew how to attach it I would include a video. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. I agree with you, his knowledge and experience are limited. When I read his first post I get the feeling he is parroting what he has heard/been told by a DZO and a rigger. Rather then jump his shit for bring this up, it would be more productive to get more information on the incident to find out just what did or did not happen. 15. You don't know this guy but you feel you can basically call him a liar and claim what he personally saw is hearsay. Lighten up. How do we know you what you are talking about? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. I bet I know someone who got his coach rating. And the poll says 33 people...idiot My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  18. Numbers can tell the story or hide the story. Does someone have 1000 jumps or does he/she have 1 jump repeated 1000 times? There is a big difference. As far as all that packing, without a riggers ticket, it means you have packed a lot of parachutes. That does not mean you understand the differences in the systems, how they are built and what makes them work. Experience is acquiring both skills and knowledge. Skills may come quickly but knowledge usually takes time. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. Re-read his post, he has already done that. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. F-111 has not been manufactured for several years. What we have is low porosity (3-5 cfm) and ZP. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. Scott, Its a Modle T Ford and if that was all you had to drive it would look pretty good. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. Take a rubber band and put it around the top closing flap and the protector flap. Keep it below and clear of the closing loop and it will keep the flap closed in freefall. I will drive people nuts because they think it prevent you reserve from opening. If you think thats a problem but it on at you next repack and table pull the reserve. 24. You talk like you think it came from the Jurassic period. Some of us not only learned on that type of gear but made several jumps on it after being students. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. I think she hit the nail right on the head actualy. I'd venture a guess that she (as I do) thinks that imposed life limits are wack, and if instituted buy an industry driven body may have less to do with saftey, and more to do with built in obselesense. A Rigger should be the final determining factor in the airworthyness of a pice of gear. A loft I worked for had a limit of 30 years. After that they refused to pack it no matter what shape it was in. Limited their liability. I agree with this, but still think it should be an individual/loft decision, not a rule handed down by the industry. We need no more in the way of regulation, especialy if it goes as far as FAA regulation. The FAA doesn't really understand our gear. Just a thought, but maybe the manufactures would like to limit their liability by removing some of their older rigs from service. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
