    The rig is well-used, with about 1,500 jumps on it, but still has life left in it. I'm not going to throw away a good rig, for the wont of a $20 B-12 snap repair. That's like trading in your car for a new one because the ashtray is full. John, The good news is the B-12 should only cost you about $7 to $8. The bad news is the harness has to come apart to replace it and that will run quite a bit more then $20. Type 13 has not been used for more years than I care to remember and chances are the manufacture is no longer in business. 1500 jumps seems like you may have gotten your moneys worth.     The snap in question is a B-12 type snap, not a "quick ejector." To my knowledge the B-12 does not come in a separable version. Chest mount reserves did not use either B-12's or quick ejectors, they used a butterfly snap such as items H411 and H413 in ParaGear. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

    There is a big difference between the spring pilot chute system on a main and the spring pilot chute on your reserve. Most main pilot chutes are attached with a 36" bridle. When the spring is released it jumps to the end of the bridle and rebounds back at the jumper. On your reserve the bridle does not stop the movement of the pilot chute away from the jumper allowing it to continue out of the burble and into clean air.     If you don't believe it, try jumping the same canopy one time with spectra and the next time with nylon lines. Nylon is even more dynamic then dacron. You will not believe the difference. The fact is, the more dynamic the line, the less opening shock is transferred to the load, ie. jumper. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I grounded 2 jumpers for 30 days and did a part 75 on a third. He was banned from jumping for 6 months. Both Perrris and Elsinore complied with the actions.     I know you rigger types don't like to test your work with real peoples lives.....but I have not had a reserve ride in over 300 jumps and if something don't go bad soon, I may have to cut a good one away.
