Cool Hand Luke Keith, How old are you? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You just called probably 100's of skydivers that know way more about this sport then you do morons. Does that make you feel like a big man? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I have jumped with bifocals for 20 years without a problem. Without them I have trouble reading my altimeter. One thing I have found that helps is large lens. This puts the bifocal part lower on my face and I can see over it to see the ground. Getting old sure does suck, but it beats the hell out of the alternative. A reserve has to open in a certain time not distance. Normal test, at 70 mph with 170 lb. the canopy must be fully open within 3 sec. of release. It must do this 12 times. Line twist test, 70 mph with 170 lb. with three line twists must be fully open within 4 sec. of release. It must do this 5 times. PPM Vol. I, page 20 My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And my point is how do you know that the belts sold for $100 in a gear store were made "right", since there are no standards for such things and they don't have to be made by a rigger? You don't, but then there a no standards for main canopies either. But if you use a cotton weave material and cotton thread I'll bet it will come apart at the worst possible time. I don't think thats the case at all! I am a college student and am pretty much broke. I'll take the extra 20 minutes to make a weight belt if its possible. I'm not a sewer but I am sure I can figure it out. Having made several weight belts, you can be sure it is going to take you much longer than 20 minutes. Rigging is covered under Part 65. My point is that if they are not made right they can be one hell of a hazard in the air. If you don't have access to the right machines and use the right thread they will come apart under the stress of freefall. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You may not have to be a rigger to sew, but are you sure you can design one with the right materals and configuration. It would be a hell of a mess if it came off or came apart in freefall. Do you know the difference between Type III and Type IV? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Purposely screwed up landings..?
mjosparky replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think it would be a good idea. But you may want to wait until you are completely comfortable with normal landings and maybe get a briefing from an instructor. Good luck. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
The funny thing is we've been hearing a couple of scary (and at times unbelievable) stories that you folks still use pull-out ripcords and F-111 for your AFF students. Yes. Several DZs have adopted BOC and "SEMI" ellipiticals (loaded at .75 or less and brake lines e-tuned) for AFF Students. If its what they're gonna be jumping, why not train them on it? Times change, Brother... What would you guys think of a DZ that still uses round mains, round reserves and chest mounted rip cords? Proper training can and will make almost anything possible. I agree with the first part; but it's not commutative. Jumping with a Cypres is smart, but that doesn't mean that jumping without one is necessarily stupid. Wendy W. I stand corrected. Edit to read "a" instead of "the". My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I just bought this rig. can a cypress be set up on it?
mjosparky replied to park1231's topic in Gear and Rigging
That's a question you should have found the answer to before you bought the rig. The Cruiselite was a 220 Sq Ft 7-cell F-11 canopy made by Para Flite. There was a Cruiselite XL as well, which was 245 Sq Ft. There may have been a smaller "Beta" version around 200 Sq Ft as well, but I'm not completely sure. The smaller canopy I believe was the CruiseAir, it was 200 sq. ft. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Pay no attention to the bantering of some people. Jumping with a cypres, regardless of why, is a smart thing to do. End of story. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You bring up a good point. It is amazing how many riggers seem to forget that little requirement. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

HARD OPENINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mjosparky replied to jmpnkramer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Don't feel stupid. Sometimes your eyes see what your brain want to see. Not to long ago I did the same thing and the opening knocked the crap out of me and then went into a spin. Pain is an excellent teacher. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
It's not a pro military website either. He has every right to post his opinion here, just like you and I do. Since this is the Gear and Rigging forum, let's try real hard to keep the thread from going off into the realm of politics. Thanks. Isn't his question by it's very nature in the realm of politics and not about Skydiving gear or rigging? jmho My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Not BS at all. The loop must be below the guide ring or it will rip the keeper in the manner described. Bob Buzzzz, no more callers we have a winner. It really does sound like the brake was set above the ring. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
QuoteI've always thought that it would be funny to show up at a DZ and do level 4 (whichever one it is where they release you) and go into a heads down. Not that I can do it, but I think someone should Playing that kind of a game might just get you a bad case of knuckle bumbs once you land. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

1. We are not talking about laws; We are taling about a contract. He agreed to the contract when he bought the property. He was not violating the contract when he put up the pole. But after the HOA decided they didn't like the pole, theprohibition to the covenant. pury added a 2. The ultimate pose of a covenant is to protect the property values and rights of the members of the community. Now if the pole was such an eyesore that it would harm the property values, his immediate neighbors are the very ones who would be harmed most. But his immediate neighbors not only support him, but they have filed lawsuits against the HOA for wasting HOA money prosecuting him. This is outside the bounds of common sense. First of all the HOA's is the home owners of which he is one. Any change to the CCR's has to be voted on and passed by the membership of the HOA. Now he either did not attend the meeting and express his views or if he did not many people were impressed and voted against the pole. The HOA is not some foreign power that come in and takes over, it is HIM. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
