The rig was built under government contract and is legal to jump. How do you think all the old surplus gear, cheapos, 24' flat, T-10's were jumped in the 60's and 70's. I agree with you that older sharpchuters open harder. I have 1500+ jumps on several of them and this always seems to be the case. They all had dacron lines and stayed pretty much in trim all the time. + - 1 inch. I have never been able to come with a reason. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Stand corrected. I should have said a square 7. Most square 7 cells also have much deeper cells, from top to bottom and are trimmed less steep. The Diablo is a elliptical I believe, with very shallow cells and a higher aspect ratio than traditional 7 cells. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Do you wear your helmet during take off and landing?

The problem is that their expensive camera equipment is going to damage my skull too. Make them put it on or strap it in. Yes I said "make" again. If they don't listen, talk to the DZO and then refuse to get on the plane with them till they put that helmet on. (that's what I did once, and the engines were running) It was quite the site to see! Helldog, There is a big difference in the landings of a 7 cell and a 9 cell. A 7 cell reacts slower to control inputs than a 9 cell does. Because of this you must start you flare higher. It is also more forgiving than a 9 cell. If you flare to high you can milk it out a bit. The sharpchuter is a good canopy to make you learning mistakes on.
