  6. Thats one of the advantages of a bungee PC. If the bungee breaks or wears out, you have a regular PC. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I have been making them for 10 years and jumping them for longer. If made right they will open between 40 and 45 mph on a steady acceleration and just over 30 when placed into the air stream. While doing test for an ATPS contractor, I would piggy back test of the design and make sure it would deploy constituency. I have done C&P's from 2000 to 6000 sometimes carrying up to 40 pounds of demo gear and have never had a problem. But the bungee has to be the right type and the right length for the diameter of the PC. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  10. Unless you exit at less then 50 mph, a bungee pilot chute will make no difference at all. If it takes more than 50 mph hour to open it is not made right. Testing them out of a car window will prove nothing unless you drive 80/100 mph and then throw it out the window. That is really going to hurt. Bungee P/C's not working on a C&P is just another urban legend. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. Paul, its called Temporal distortion. This site explains it. http://www.asc2002.com/summaries/i/IP-23.pdf Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. Have you ever wondered why they stopped making sports canopies and now make a 370 based on the 7808 Lissaman airfoil which is almost 30 years old? There are many improved designs available to choose from. The purchase of a reserve is not the best place to save a few bucks in my opinion. But everyone has to make their own choices based on their priorities. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. Hey Lady, How are you doing, not moving again I hope? I got them all right. But at my age I need to retest every week. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  15. It was at the nationals in 1978 at Richmond, ID. The first load of the day, a Sunday, in a DC3 doing a 20 way. There was almost solid cloud cover and Bob Branch was spotting from the ground. I know, I know. I opened up at around 2,500 in the clouds with a Piglet main. For you youngsters that is a 24' round. Drop through the clouds at about 1500 and all I could see were trees everywhere. With the Piglet there was no way to get to the edge of Sherwood forest but the Piglet gods were with me. There was one little clearing in the middle of all this timber. If I could make that I would live. Had to crab across the wind line, but just made it. I do this wonderful PLF, thanking my FJI, and come jumping to my feet like I knew what I was doing. I looked around and near one edge of the clearing were 3 men and 3 women sitting around a small fire. And I could smell bacon cooking. I walk over and these folks are having a cook-out breakfast/brunch. They invite me to join them, sausage, eggs over easy and pan fried potatoes. To wash it down they mixed me one of the best Bloody Marys in the world. We finished eating and drinking and they gave me a ride back to the airport. When I told the people I was jumping with they said it was all bull shit, but we know better, don't we. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. We are not talking physics, deceleration injury is a medical term for injuries caused by a sudden stop. I don't think you the fool, I decelerate to a stop sign. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  21. Scott, Look in the front of the latest Para Gear catalog and you will find a new, never used Swift Plus 225 for $595 reduced from $1375. Gosh, I wonder why? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. John, I agree and most skydiving helmets, even frap hats will do this. But I hate to see jumpers feel that they are protected for anything more than what you have pointed out. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. Bill, I think part of the purpose of a "flat turn" is to keep the canopy over your head and avoid swing out. This is best done by slowing it down and and turning. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. I think it is a great idea. When I first started jumping people were wearing M/C helmets. Then the fashion war started. Economically, I don't think you will see helmets in the skydiving world designed to say Snell standards. It just costs too much and the market is too small. And yes, you can reach speed approaching if not exceeding 100 mph in a hard hook turn with the right canopy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
