Civilian HALO jumps can and are done safely. For a number of years I taught HALO to civilian jumpers at Apple Valley. Our program required a "D" lic. , the chamber and 2 practice jumps with full gear from 12,500. We followed the procedures used in the military and the same equipment. There is alot to learn and alot to remember. It is not just another skydive. The people conducting the opp. had better know what they are doing or you could wake up dead. Last year I spent a week there doing demos for Maya Island Air. The people are very friendly but then we were putting on a show for them. The country is very poor and HIV rate is high. We were told while in Belize City, the capital, not to leave the Hotel compound after dark. So of the best diving in the world and the fishing is great. If you take the time to learn how to fly one, those big sinky canopies you can come in steep and do a tipping toe landing. Have done it hundreds of times. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Yes, mjosparky worked ground crew and Jay Stokes is one tough son of bitch. It rained light to heavy on night and everything was soaked including the interior of the A/C. 534 jumps without a function. Hell thats more then Mar does in a week. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
