How many jumps before you purchased your own rig?
mjosparky replied to Skylark's topic in Safety and Training
Jump #3, a 7TU with 24' flat. They would not let me jump it because it was to high performance. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Me too! If you guys would settle down and do this at sunset (better light for pictures then anyway) then maybe us 4-way training folks could join you! ltdiver Tunnel time from 3 to 4, after that would be great. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I hate to hear that. I hope Jerry returns to the air soon. I've looked up to the great Jerry Bird since the 70's. I wonder how Ray Cottingham is doing. He's another one of my heroes. It's the shits getting old...Steve1 Ray jumps the Wuest Ways at Elsinore every 2 to 3 weeks. Makes 4, 5 or 6 six jumps a day and packs his own canopy. He is someone we can all look up to and not just for his jumping. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Sorry, Mike Tim Are you calling me sorry? I would never call anyone with a 4 digit D license number "Sorry" when I have a zip code. Tim T. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

They recently came out with the Cypres 2, would you like to buy my expired Cypres I? It's not likely they will extend its life. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You can double stow them or leave them with a single. Either way will work. A stow band by its self will not cause a bag lock. If the pilot chute is in good shape, the band will break if it does not release. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You are not the bad guy. If there were more "bad guy" parents in this country (USA) we would have fewer problems. I think you Rock!

I know this sounds old fashion, but hell, I am old. To me women are one of the great gifts in life. They are special and make your life a wonderful place to be. They should be treated with respect and done for when possible. The door should be opened, walk behind going up stairs, in front going down. It is not to demean or belittle, but show that they fill up the world of every man. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Is RW a natural gift or can it be learned? If so, HOW??
mjosparky replied to JUDYJ's topic in Relative Work
100% spot-on. I rather like the hard-core aspect of training. I do not believe I could enjoy long-term tandem-master or AFFI, but coaching and competition are a siren song. I derive an immense amount of pleasure from working hard at getting better, and passing along what little I know to hungry jumpers. I'm currently blessed with teammates that share these desires. Perhaps someday my obsession will turn into vocation, but since it doesn't pay squat, it will certainly have to be a labor of love. To address the original question: I think the ability to excel in RW is a gift; becoming good can be learned with a modicum of effort. The more effort applied, the better your skydiving can become, until you reach your personal effort/reward saturation point. Note that reaching this point means only you have found your 'happy place', and may change over time. -- Dave Dave, Very well stated. The "happy place" is different for everyone and can be different at different times. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

You made the first calls without all the facts. The one was a broken reserve loop after the main was open for some time, hardly the jumpers fault. One was a problem with the a canopy with only 80 jumps, has been returned to the manufacture. The lost pud was a good call by the jumper. imo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

QuotePlease let my juju stay good. Quote When are you making your next jump, I want to watch it. One was a broken reserve loop, one was lost pud at hard deck, one was broken lines and am not sure what the last one was. The first three were not related to packing of the main.
