  1. The FAA does not list "Thomas Sports Equipment" as holding a TSO under TSO-C23, TSO-C23B, TSO-23c or TSO C23D. Could they have received it under a different name? Sparky These are the only Comanys listed from England and they are both under TSO-C23c. Could RFD be Thomas Sports? 1. GQ Parachutes, Ltd., Portugal Road Woking Surrey GU21 5JE England 2. 4. by reading the above post, you can see that the mentionned skydivers were not jumping illegally, as apparently mjosparky made a false statement when he wrote that Next was not TSO'd... I did not mean to make a "false statement", I was using an old list. Here is the current list of TSO c23D holders. Paratec is listed. 6. Derek, Still one of the best posts I have seen on the net. Thanks for the effort. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I was under the impression that it was TSO'ed and JTSO'ed. I own one and will check tonight. But I'm sure I remember seeing something about it being TSO'ed on the label on the reserve risers. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> According to the NEXT packing manual, it is manufactured under JAA JTSO C23d. Now I am not bright enough to understand the practical difference between FAA TSO and JAA JTSO, so will someone please enlighten me? Besides, if this legal issue really bothers you, you could just earn a CSPA Rigger A rating so you could legally repack any piece of parachute equipment that was legal in its country of origin. Rob, They both test to AS8015-B but I don't know if the FAA recognizes a JAA TSO or if JAA recognizes a FAA TSO. 8. Ahh, it was probably a Strong pop top too! lol (well at least Scratch will get that one) It's Ted's invention, not John's. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Yeah, the rule is in even more ambiguity than it ever was...... Define: Forign jumper now..... Foreign parachutist as defined by Part 105.... "Foreign parachutist means a parachutist who is neither a U.S. citizen or a resident alien and is participating in parachute operations within the United States using parachute equipment not manufactured in the United States." Approved parachute as defined by Part 105..... "Approved parachute means a parachute manufactured under a type certificate or a Technical Standard Order (C–23 series), or a personnel-carrying U.S. military parachute (other than a high altitude, high speed, or ejection type) identified by a Navy Air Facility, an Army Air Field, and Air Force-Navy drawing number, an Army Air Field order number, or any other military designation or specification number." Now lets flop pack your main. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Probably deserves a separate thread, but what happens to a foreign jumper who has a malfunction on non-TSO'd equipment? Are they SOL? Can a foreign rigger work on and certify their gear in the US? - Jim Reference Part 105.49. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. Not legal for a US jumper in the USA. Point well taken, but it still does not show up on most USA sites. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. When I put my seal on it and sign the data card, I am saying it is airworthy for 120 days. Anything that alters the condition it is in when seal and sign voids that certification. Everything will "go bad" at sometime. That is why we only certify them for 120 days at a time, or what ever time required in different countries. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. Just try and imagine the trouble we would be in if the bad guys were not so stupid!!!! I am surprised they did not show up riding on a short bus. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. First of all, my name is not "Dude". I have a grip, I just get tired of put jumpers who think is funny in a bag. Under 2000 feet life gets very serious. The name is Michael (aka Sparky) My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. One reason it is not in most USA sites, the Next is not TSO'ed, not legal in USA. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. Yes you can. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  17. If it has not been taken off the risers try this. Go to the tail of the canopy and find the 4 brake line attachments on each side. Follow these down to were the are cascaded in to one on each side. Now walk those 2 steering lines down to the risers shaking all the twists out ahead of you. Now take the container and flip how ever it needs to be flipped to straighten things out. Good Luck Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  22. It will probably not cause any extra wear and I doubt it will contribute to a malfunction, but malfunctions are unpredictable to a point. It is wrong and should be changed. If your rigger installed the slinks, find another rigger and have him straight out your lines. If you installed the slinks, redo them and get someone to check your work. Sparky PS: If you did not notice this in 25 jumps, maybe you should give more attention to you canopy check after deployment. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  25. Dude, you posted this in Bonfire. You should expect smart ass comments in Bonfire. That's like a student asking a question after the beerlight is on. Sure the question will be answered, but usually there's a smartass reply involved as a joke. My name is not "Dude". If a student asks a question after the beerlight is that question any less important to the student? No, it is just less important to you. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
