If you were smart, you would be holding the girl and to hell with taking a picture of the rig. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. The fur of a freshly skinned cat is very good for removing urine.
  3. How were you first trained when you went through FJC. Most people will revert to what they were first taught when in a stress situation. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. Rounds produce no lift at all, just drag. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. The safe way is to have the static line attachment point at floor level, preferably at the front of the door. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Did your mother dress you that morning or did you pick out that outfit all by your self? Nice looking rig! Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Micro line, or spectra, is stronger for any given diameter then Dacron line. Being smaller in diameter, Spectra will produce less overall drag than Dacron. Spectra has a much smaller pack volume. On the down side, Spectra has little or no elongation, stretch, which transfers the force of a hard opening to the jumper and the canopy. Dacron can have up to 20% elongation and can absorb some of the opening shock forces. Spectra has a rather low melting temperature and the heat produced by the slider moving down the lines heats them up to the point that they will shrink over time. Usually between 3 to 5 hundred jumps you will need to replace the line set. Hope this helps. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. And that folks is the long and short of it. A demo is not about skydiving, it is a performance, a show, being done at the request of a sponsor. It’s about doing what the sponsor wants for the length of time he wants it done. It’s about smoke, flags, banners and every type of costume you can think of. It’s about jumping with up to 80/90 pounds of shit strapped to you and making it look easy. It’s about landing on time, on target, standing up without anyone getting scared or hurt. It’s about “Make a jump, get a check.” Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Where I draw the line is where the consqeuences are for my actions. If they're just on me and I know the rule is drek, I'll bend or break it. But if other people can get into trouble for what I'm doing then I pretty much follow it blindly. That answers the question I was asking. And I think is answers it very well and I agree. 12. As far as I can tell the bag has had no effect on my openings at all. After jumping this bag for several hundred jumps and making about 500 jumps without the use of a bag of any kind, I am convinced that there are only two things that affect the opening of a ram-air canopy. 1. The fill time, which is a function of design and can be controlled by how the nose is handled during packing. 2. Size and design of the slider and how it is handled during packing.
  13. You tell me. Do you always come to a full stop at a stop sign? Do you never exceed the speed limit? Have you never gone through a cloud while skydiving? You've never downloaded a mp3? Never touched a beer until you were 21? I'm betting you've broken laws most every day of your life, just like everyone else in the world does. Amazingly enough, society doesn't break down and crumble because of it. But we were not talking about driving or beer, we were taking about skydivers that feel it is their right to do just as they damn well please on someone elses dime. We were talking about jumping with an out of date reserve. This can and has caused problems for people other than the one that thinks iit is no big deal. And I asked you, "where do you draw the line". I know where I do. If you don't want to answer the question just say so don't dance around it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. There seem to be a lot of jumpers who believe this sport is only about them and what they want to do. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. Depends on the rule and how strongly it's enforced. So if a rule is not strongly enforced there is no need to follow it? Where do you draw the line? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. What he said. When you stow your brakes, grab the brake line above the ring and give it a pull. Just takes a second and will make sure it is set right. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  17. Because it's more important to understand the idea behind the rules, why they're in place and how those issues affect you, than to just follow them blindly. Do you think it is better to just follow the rules that you like or agree with? If everyone did that things could get a little chaotic don't you think? 18. Even a PC in just fair condition will produce a 100 pounds plus at terminal. Take any stow band you want and double it or even triple it. Now hook a 100 pound weight to the stow band and try and pick the weight off the ground. I think you will find that the stow band will break before the weight lift up. Bag locks are caused by lines fouling with a stow or the bridle. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. Here is the chart. But remember, a canopy that is 250 cu. in. today might be 275 tomorrow. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. You would be better off listening to Skybytch and Arlo as to what is a good price for gear and what would be a safe canopy for you. Jumpers with less then a few hundred jumps can offer an opinion but when you think about it there is not much experience to back it up. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. And everybody in this sport, no matter how many jumps they have now, at one time had "9 whole jumps". (at least those that have more than 9) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  24. My experience flying lightly loaded canopies in windy conditions. What part of it do you feel is in error? Or are you implying I don't have any experience? What part of the question don't you understand? It was a simple question. I did not question your knowledge or experience, merely asked what your experience was. Without something to go by, you are just a noise in the dark. If you wish to remain anonymous that’s just fine but your advise is not much good to the newer jumper that might be able to benefit from it. Jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. Phree, No, I haven't given it much thought. I made the bag about 5 or 6 years ago. It is a split bag design and I did replace the velcro on the split with snaps. I might have to give tuck tabs some thought. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
