The same forces that caused the lines to break may have done damage to the canopy that is not apparent. It may fly just great until 500 feet. Just something to think about. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

This information is incorrect. TSO-C23b standard category (5,000 lbs.) is a minimum for that rating. The Vector certification drop tests that were conducted at Performance Design all exceeded 8’000 lbs and as such exceed every canopy that you have listed and therefore can be used in Vector containers. Mike Forsythe Manager Engineering, Research & Development The Uninsured Relative Workshop, Inc. Was the Vector tested under TSO-C23b, standard category or under the low speed category? Were these tests conducted at PD testing the reserve canopy or the H/C system? I do not think any PD canopy was ever certified under TSO-C23b. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I think I would enjoy that. Nothing better than cold brew and good conversation.

Does it matter? They still died under a good canopy. The only reason we wear a parachute when we skydive is to land safely so we can do it again. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Jerry, The best answer I can give you is "permanent" is what the FAA representative you are talking to at the moment says it is. When it comes down to it, it is their definition that counts not ours. Not trying to "weasel-word", just don't know what else to tell you. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

From AS8015-B: Marking: Except as noted below, the following information shall be legibly and permanently marked on each major component in a location subject to a minimum of obliteration: a. Part number, including dash numbers b. Manufacturer’s name and address c. Date of manufacture (month and year) and serial number d. FAA TSO-C23 ( ) e. Maximum operating limits (see 1.2 and 4.3.4) The markings are required on a reserve, not on a main. Plus a reserve does not get the wear and tear that a main does. It is up to your "next of kin", the one that makes the decision on burial or cremation. In most cases it is a family member that is not a skydiver. Make sure that person or persons know your wishes and how to contact some of your close skydiver friends. It is not hard to put an ash dive together, but it can be hard on the person doing it. Some places it is not even legal or needs a special permit. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Being new does not mean you can't have opinions that are valid. But always remember that all the little gadgets that we jump with can get "stuck". Learn to depend on no one or nothing but yourself.

If nothing was broken there is only one answer, you did not re-assemble them correctly. Rigging is all about attention to detail. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Rob, Have you noticed that every time someone has a bright idea and changes one component in the 3-ring “system” they end up creating a problem? Someday people are going to realize that the 3-ring system works, leave it alone. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Buy an altimeter that was designed for skydiving. Easier to see and always in the right mode. Suunto may be “Cool” but it is just a fancy watch. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You are right, but if a MT-1X or a MT-1S for that matter has been used as a main it will not be used as reserve. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

This is not meant as a flame, but most of what you posted does not make sense. If you have questions about the gear or the methods being used to train you, ask the people doing the training. If you do not like the answers you get, go somewhere else for training. It seems you do not know what handles do what or what the instructors are doing but you have made up you mind it is not right. Independent action or doing it "my way" at your stage of the game would not be the smart thing to do. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And the only thing that counts is where you guide that airplane relative to the ground. A cross wind will push you down wind of your course if you do not make control inputs to stop it. You may be able to hold you heading but not your course. Your course is your chosen line across the ground not through the sky. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
-
If a pilot wants to hold a given course and there is a crosswind component to deal with, the pilot must hold a different heading to keep the plane from drifting off down wind of the crosswind component. The only thing that counts is what you or your canopy is doing relative to the ground. If you put your canopy or a plane at a 45-degree angle to the relative wind, put the controls to natural and let go, the canopy or the plane will turn down wind. That is one of the reasons there are trim wheels on airpanes. The relative wind on the 45 degrees is greater than the relative wind on the nose of the plane or canopy. The slower the plane or canopy is moving, the greater the effect will be. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Did/does he have any test data on this thing or is it his speculation that it will work as advertised. I would like to see some video on a deployment using this device just to see how it affects other things such as the P/C, the bag and what it does to the effectiveness of the slider. The guy may be the next bearded man from the south, but I doubt it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

If she pulled her cutaway handle to full arm extension both cables had to be clear of the 3 ring loops. As Bill stated earlier, you have to pull the cable less then 7 or 8 inches to release the risers. If one riser did not release it was for some other reason. She either thought she pulled to arms length but didn't, or rings hung up. It would be a good idea for someone to check the system on the rig for any problems.
