I think they do it to you because your wing loading on your reserve is 1.7 and at you jump # that is not safe. But then that is not safe at any jump number. What you call attacking is people offering advice that may save the posters life if they care to listen. They are not trying to put anyone down or keep them from having fun. Most of them are sincere and the advice they give is free. Sparky I got to jump my PD reserve at Lost Prairie.. it was loaded at 1.7 to 1.. that was a mighty sporty landing with that thin assed hot air.. definitely a hell of a turf surf and butt slide.. Yeah not so much fun... but very memorable. Yea, but you are a lot tougher than this latest crop of noobs. Plus how many 7 cell jumps have you made Darlin? No hardware is TSO’d until it is tested as part of a harness/container system or in the case of connector links test with a canopy. Manufactures are free to test with any hardware/materials they want. If they pass all required tests they then must maintain tractability of all outsourced materials and in house test of these materials. (See Part 21.137 Quality system.) There is much more to a TSO then just testing. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

After reading through your first post I would say you need to quit making excuses and blaming others for the problems you are having. If you feel you are not ready for the tasks called for on any given jump step up and say so, ask the instructors to go over it again. On the way up clear your mind of everything except what you need to do on this one jump. As was posted before there is no failure just practice. Be more receptive to criticism as there is room for it on every jump all of us make. On the other hand if it too tough for you, just quit. Sparkiy My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Mike Truffer ~ still giving to the sport!
mjosparky replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Huh? Spark, do you mean USPA's money grab last year regarding A-cards, that MANY members railed against? That was a separate issue, entirely. I read, & respect/appreciate what Truffer did w/the fund he envisioned. Haven't heard from you in quite a while, Sparky. You HAD appeared to lose the chip on your shoulder (?). If you feel the need to take a shot at me. Have at it, but use something I'm actually against. You were the only one that accused Mike of stealing. You should go back to SC. You shush, we almost have him banned. JK Chris. Don’t feed the crybabies.

Sounds like you're good to go. By making a small canopy change I can get up to 64. Now that should be fun. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Your first few times in the tunnel they are going to make you belly fly. This is not a bad thing, by learning good basics belly down you will find it easer transfer to other types of flying. I would get a good basic RW shit and the helmet you plan on jumping in the air. Remember that all jumpers are belly flyers at pull time. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

That is really amazing. I wonder if PiLFy still thinks Mike is trying to steal from him. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
My score is 30 and I haven't jumper since 2006. I would say it could use some tweaking.

Noob Q of the day: Angle Dives vs Track Dive?
mjosparky replied to DrDom's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A Tracking Dive is defined as one in which the majority of the time is spent in a track, with a fairly normal freefall descent rate and a substantial amount of horizontal movement. The flight path typically covers up to a kilometer (.6 mile) or more of horizontal distance and is often in a straight line or has only slight course changes. An Angle Flying Dive is defined as one in which there is a horizontal component, but the angle is much steeper than a conventional tracking dive, resulting in a faster fall rate and less horizontal movement. The horizontal component may involve several direction changes. Some people call these atmonauti or tracing dives. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

Not trying to discredit the response, however there are certain components that are NOT compatible with others. Soft links are great but not always something that can be changed out. Your rigger should a)know, or b) know where to look to find out if certain things will work from one manufacturer to another. Reserve PD soft links or "Slinks" are not approved for use with all manufacturers. Im sure they will work, but wont meet TSO regs. Just something to keep in mind. Take the canopy to your rigger and ask about changing components. Both PD and Aerodyne have TSO’s soft links. There is no need to replace SS Rapide Links other than for the "cool" factor. I have never heard of one breaking but know of a couple times soft links have failed. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

How did we get from a harmless saying to a lecture on morality? One of the great things about living in a free country is you don’t have to live your life by someone else view of right and wrong. I can assure you there are far worse things happening in this world to fret over then a few people making naked skydives. Or should I say a “sports parachute jump”? As for Buzz Bennett, don’t know him, never heard of him. If you have a problem with him you should take it up with Mr. Bennett. This is not the proper forum. You can get a digital altimeter with an analog readout. It also has a logbook feature. But remember anything digital needs a battery. http://www.l-and-b.dk/products/visual/altitrack I wore one of these for 20+ years and never had a problem. http://forum.altimaster.com/content.php?168-Alti-II The one thing that will improve flying skills the most is a good jumpsuit.
