  2. I spent 30 years as a Firefighter and over 20 years testing parachutes and parachute systems for different manufactures and the military. I am never surprised at how confused people can get when placed under even a small amount of stress. That is exactly why in my first post I said maybe some people should not be skydiving. If they can’t keep their right and left straight changing shape and color is not going to make them any less confused during a malfunction. Yes, I am aware of that. I have been a pilot since 1981. Did you know that on many GA planes that the throttle, prop and mixture controls are all the same shape and right next to each other? I have never said that aircraft designers are in the wrong activity, put there are plenty of pilots that are. I used the “2 metal handles” system for 7 out of 11 cutaways that I have had. The other 4 were on capewells. I think the bottom line is to train on whatever system you choose to use and not lose you cool when the shit hits the fan. This can be done for most people through the confidence gained by training on a regular basis. But then again all of this is just my opinion. Sparky Edited to add attachment. 7. There are only 2 handles. That’s about as basic as it can get. If you have trouble remembering your right from you left during a “high stress situation” maybe you are in the wrong sport. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Umm..yeah ok if you want to believe that. There might be something to this d30 foam. The testing methods are a bit over the top but it seems to work. http://dvice.com/archives/2007/10/d30-foam-allows-helmet-wearers.php Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  13. Many years ago Bill Hallam did a H&P out of a C-182 with a Strato Star. He packed it with the slider down just to see what would happen. It opened so hard and fast he bit the end of his tongue off. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. They are both certified under TSO-C23d. They were test to at least 264 pounds at 180 KEAS. That means they are certified to 220 pounds at 150 KEAS. They can test to any weight and speed they want but the certification is as above. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  17. I have had real good luck placing the container in a cotton kit bag; I use an AF B-4 bag. Remove everything, all ripcords, canopies and such. Take it to a commercial laundry mat and use one of the super sized washers. Put is a little gentle soap like woolite. When it done take it home and hang it up to dry. Out of the sun of course. 19. You said that the knot was not very tight and you pilot chute was collapsed. If it had happened during deployment the knot would have been tight as hell and the pilot chute would not have collapsed due the tied off bridle. It could have happened while flying your canopy, during hard maneuvers or while you were picking it up after landing. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  22. Hey Doc, Where is that flag attached to you in that second pic? Jump It is the same in both pictures. It is deployed from a container worn around the waist and held on with 2 inch webbing. The flag lanyard it attached to the webbing with a modified 3 ring release system. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  24. I put about 25 jumps on a 245 Startracs and thought they sucked. The Sharpchuter packs up smaller and has a higher max weight limit than the ZP Mantas. They also work well in deep brakes. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
