It doesn't work for cigs, alcohol, or drugs. Why would it work with guns? I do believe that everyone should have at least BASIC gun safety lessons sometime while in school. As John pointed out, they're going to run into one someday. I would never advocate giving shooting lessons as a mandatory learning experience. Children should know a few things about guns though, the idea that every gun is loaded until you've proven otherwise. How to unload a gun and make sure that the chamber is clear, etc... Just the basics. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I'll double Lisa's twenty spot if you can land that thing in the peas. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

It's that whole pesky burden of proof thing that's in your way, Quade. You've made the allegation, people are tired of hearing (seeing) it. Back it up. Until you can, don't expect to be taken seriously. Many people in politics are well connected, both politically and in the business world. Somebody always knows someone, or worked for someone, or company X... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I see your point. I wouldn't have thought it such a big deal if it was simply a matter of not renewing his rating. The course, I assume, is meant to teach and reinforce certain time tested teaching and survival methods that might not be obvious to even the most experienced skydiver. In this case, Hook, I support your viewpoint. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Was the DZO qualified to make the jump? There's more to being an instructor than flipping a $20.00 to the USPA. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

That's good to hear. Do you know if the folks at Vigil will present a "Vigil Saves" document, or page, similar to the Cypres document? I suspect that such a document might help to prove to people that the device really does do what it claims it will. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Excel, being the POC that it is, has a limit of 65K rows and I think 256 columns. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I would suggest you work on flat and braked turns first. They're much more likely to save your life than a rear riser landing. But that's just me... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

You're screwed in Excel. Can you import it into Access and manipulate from there? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Icarus will build a canopy to any size requested by the buyer. In your case it's possible that the previous owner decided on a wierd size. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Yeah, but that doesn't matter. The people want it. How can the Constitution possible stand in the way of what people want? How can technology possibly stand in the way of what people want? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

The best $$ I've spent on skydiving

You planning on doing it again? Maybe the advanced course next time? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. -
I think your dropzone (assuming they are a USPA DZ) should be able to handle everything necessary to join the USPA. At a minimum they will be able to get you a temporary membership. As to the issue of a check, I'm sure they wouldn't mind. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Bill's checklist is entirely reasonable and a tangible measure of ability. The experienced jumpers on this site realize that, that's why people are backing him up. Don't you think that Bill, who has significantly more experience than you do, might just know what he's talking about? If you survive in this sport long enough to have 500, or even 1,000 jumps I suspect that you'll look back on this post and wonder what you were thinking. I could complete Bill's list on my last canopy. On my current canopy it's going to take a while, at least a few seasons I think, to complete the list again. Stay safe. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
