  1. No, I wouldn't ask for my ticket back. You decided that that last jump was worth something to you, and you paid for it. Was the jump worth less to you because someone else got on the load? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  2. The big deal? For starters, guests cannot read the Incidents forum. I agree with BASE813. I'd rather see Last Login removed from the 'mini-profile'. Hell, I'd like to see a lot of the mini-profile go away. For a 'mini' profile, it's not so mini. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. Quade, Don't make this a Republican vs. Democrat issue. Our previous CiC could have done plenty to stop OBL, but choose not to. With regards to your baseball analogy. It's neat, but far too simple to accurately represent the world political stage. Don't you think? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. Pure speculation here, but what the hell. This, to me anyhow, supports the static theory. Sounds to me as though static electricity is activating the cutter only. This would almost have to be the case since the units that fired were not powered on. Again, if we've got a static issue (even Airtec seems to acknowledge that this might be a problem) then I can understand how this (misfire, I assume on opening) could happen. As far as the Vigil unit not registering the activation, probably the unit only registers that it started the firing sequence, but doesn't receive data back from the cutter. Could it be modified to receive data back from the cutter? Probably, but it's going to increase the due to the additional sensors. I've got hope for the Vigil, but no plans to rush out and buy one. My Cypres goes EOL in a few years, I'll consider a Vigil at that time. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. No, they shouldn't. They should be rewarded for the work that they do. All too often you'll see people working a job, grossly overpaid, simply because they've been there for a long time. Not because their work is quality, or worth significantly more than the next guy's, but simply because they've been there longer. That's wrong. That _should_ be the first guy to go when times get tough. If you ever find yourself at a job and realize that you're seriously overpaid, I suggest that you - and quickly - figure out how you can add significant value to your position, or to your company. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 6. Yah, and the price of gas is over 2 bucks a gallon. The cost of living in CA is outrageous. How can you say that getting 19.50 an hour isn't fair? How much do they pay in taxes for the privilige of living there? Doesn't matter. If she can't go down the street and get a similar job with similar pay, then she's over paid. Plain and simple. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  7. Super duper cross country followed by a sweet ass hit-n-chug. Hell, maybe even get some extra altitude and throw a Mr. Bill in there, just for kicks. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. I should have looked over in the S&T forum, there's another thread discussing this. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Don't worry - it's not a thread about Talk Back. Real skydiving stuff here, folks. Flipping through this month's Parachutist, I noticed that a few folks had their memberships revoked for life, or suspended for a year. What does it take to have this sort of action imposed? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. Probably for another thread, but I don't know that I buy this one. I'm thinking that if you 'beat' the RSL, that you've just initiated an out of sequence cutaway/reserve deployment. Use it or not/depend on it or not, if it's there, you should be checking it. This would have been a very different story if somehow the RSL was connected to the three-ring system. That really sucks. Not simply because handles are expensive to replace, but also because the reserve cable would have been definitive proof that the RSL didn't activate the reserve. I remember my first RSL cutaway, it felt like an eternity between chop and reserve deployment. I was certain that I beat the RSL, until the rigger showed me the tell-tale kink in my reserve cable. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. I cringe everytime someone says something like this. It's one of the most un-american sentiments I've ever heard. IMO, far too many americans love to spout it. I don't think so. I'd agree had the statement been simply "Get the fuck out", but it wasn't. It was quit your bitching, do something about it, or get out. A nation of whiners gets us nothing, a nation of activists on the other hand, has the power to change things. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  14. Do you think that things would be significantly different if Al Gore were in office? Honestly, he scares me A LOT more than Bush ever did, or even does now. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  15. True, and shame on them for doing so. Shame though on Clinton for not having the balls to follow through with his plan, his sworn duty to protect the United States. Yet another example of Clinton's famous governing by popular opinion. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. This discussion goes beyond the right to smoke, or the right to be smoke free. This discussion, I believe, is about a business owners right to run his business in a way that he sees fit. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. But you admit though that there are bars and restaurants in Chicago that are smoke free, right? As far as "fair" is concerned, you started off this discussion talking about rights, not fair. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  18. With the exception of work, I don't understand why you have any problem avoiding smoke. If you know that a particular establishment tolerates smoking, don't go there. As far as someone lighting up in your car, especially after you had told them not to, well, that's a load crap. Shouldda kicked his ass. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 19. Why do you assume I am an "anti gun control person"? I dont own a gun and never have and couldnt care less about all these bullshit gun arguments. P.s. Yeah, california beach laws do suck sometimes. He didn't assume that you were anti-gun control. You missed the point. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  20. You're kidding, right? If you know that a restaurant, bar, business, private home, etc... allows smoking, then don't go there. What's wrong with that approach? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  21. Why would you legislate against a pool cue or a sock with a bar of soap in it? Every civilized nation already has rules against assault. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. Apparently the English _do_ give a shit about guns. You seem to have quite a lot of them over there, unfortunately none are the right hands. You say that "most of us really don't give a shit about guns", so we know that you don't. But what about those who do? Farmers are the only citizens in England who enjoy hunting and target shooting? Nothing personal dropout, but I think you've got a pretty simplistic, and probably convenient, view of the way thing really are. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends.
