NORAD, jointly operated by the United States and Canada, has been tracking Santa for 50 years, ever since a newspaper in Colorado mistakenly printed a number for a "Santa Hotline." The number turned out to be the "Operations Hotline" for NORAD headquarters in the state where tense radar operators were hunched over their radar screens on a cold night at the beginning of the Cold War. "Needless to say, the military personnel on duty were very surprised to hear small children's voices on the Operations Hotline asking to speak to Santa," the release said. The senior officer told kids he could see Santa heading south from the North Pole, starting a tradition that has now endured for half a century. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. Odds mean nothing when you actually need to defend yourself. Why belittle those who chose to be prepared for the worst? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I know several. AA is racial discrimination. No ifs. No ands. No buts. AA is racial discrimination. Period. It is disgusting and should be abolished. Silly Vinny, AA is the good kind of racial discrimination. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I think you've just insulted everyone who has, or more importantly could have or wished that they could have, at one time or another used a weapon to defend themselves. Nice job, Andy. Nice job. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I recall in the last year or so that we discussed a news story about a Chicagoian in a nice suburb who was arrested and possibly charged/indicted for using a gun to defend his home. He has the brains to live in a safe neighborhood (or not, since they don't allow guns. ), but he also had the good sense to know that one day he might need to defend his life against those wish to harm him. Knowing that, how is it that you can forsee no need that you will ever need a weapon for self defense? Is it simply short sightedness, or do you truely believe that it can't happen to you? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

We just bought a NexSan disk array for some nearline storage at work and have plans to buy an additional 25TB in January. Wanna guess what's in it? IDE is fine for some applications and Dave's server is one of them. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Apologies if this has already been adadressed, but have any of you anti-death penalty crowd ever wondered why death row inmates cost more than the general population? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

50 million Americans bought into it this year. Thats hardly no one. I've heard that a rather large number of Kerry's votes this year weren't necessarily -for- Kerry, but rather -against- Bust. I don't think that you can count those people as having 'bought into it'. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

So you're not going to address the crime that put him there? You know, the gun crime that wasn't stopped by a law. We already have laws to address violent, predatory behaviour. These laws already cover most, if not all all crimes committed with a gun. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
-
Gun laws didn't stop the criminals. Crimes were committed and criminals were caught and punished. If gun laws were effective at stopping criminals your crime rate would go down, correct? The number in prison for gun related crimes would go down, correct? Gun laws don't -stop- gun crime, but instead give us a framework for punishment of a criminal -AFTER- a crime has been committed. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. It's a shame that some people will lose their jobs. It's good though that some will keep them. What's worse, Bill, 64% out of work, or 100% out of work when when Kellogg folds? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Six Hunters Murdered on Private Land in Wisconsin
Jimbo replied to Viking's topic in Speakers Corner
Good for them. It's sad that six people died; I don't think, however, in the grand scheme of things that it's important enough for a network to shuffle it's season. Do you? Should shows with drive-by shootings be shuffled around every time somebody dies in a drive-by? Should shows with fires be shuffled around everytime somebody loses something or someone to fire? Where does it end? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. -
