  1. Just a week ago I was wandering through a mall and noticed several cops with Tazers. I couldn't help but think that given my jacket, sweater, and tshirt that those Tazers would liikely be completely ineffective against me and the majority of the mall population at the time. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 2. Yeah, at 9.3% income tax > $40,000 they're high. Delaware is high too with expensive real estate to boot. I have friends who make less than you do and seem to live pretty decent lives even with the burden of home ownership. So, tell me again how $66,560 per year (that doesn't include the cost your company is paying in benefits) is just barely enough to get by. I want to hear it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. You make $66,560 per year and you can barely survive? You can't blame that one on the government or the economy. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. What did the police have to do with Ruby Ridge and Waco? What incident are you referring to in Philly? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. Let's use the original scenario in this thread as an example; would I be less justified in taking that mans life than the police officer was? Would he have been less of a threat to me than he was to the police officer? I think that you're operating under the assumption that everyone who holds a CCW permit is looking to be the next Wyat Earp. That's simply not true. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  6. So it's OK that a police officer killed someone who posed a direct threat to -HIS- life, but it's not OK if I do it? Is that the gist of it? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  7. Occasional gifts of a few hundred dollars here and there and dinner out with the family once in a while, but nothing steady, and nothing I could count on. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. Well, maybe you don't, but I certainly do. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Un-fucking-believable. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. I disagree. I went college, got loans (which I am currently repaying), and was the son of fairly wealthy parents. Want to help your kid? Take him off of -your- taxes and quit claiming him as a dependent, it worked for me. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. Why would the kids have to drop out of college? Why could they not get loans, pay for college themselves, get a job, and kick some money back to dad? Why can't they go to school part time, get some a job, and kick some money back to dad? Your statement strikes me as saying "If they can't be in the perfect place while they're in college (living on Dad's nickle and able to focus 100% on their studies and complete everything in four years) then they shouldn't be there." I think that's a load of crap as lots of people have managed to pay their own way through college while holding down at least one job and sometimes more. Unrelated to the college issue, but why can't Dad get a job at McD's until something better comes along. Beats unemployment, right? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 13. Definitely there! I went last year and it was the perfect skydiving vacation. Friendly people, beautiful scenery, great jumps, good parties, the list goes on. I wouldn't miss it for the world. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  14. And laws such as this don't stop criminals from carrying whereever they'd like to, and drunks from driving whenever they want to, anyhow. I'm with Kennedy, this sounds like another 'blood running in the streets', or perhaps your phrase 'blood running in the bars' scenario. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 15. I've had a terminal reserve opening, it was certainly quick but not as brutal as you might expect. Either way, I'm here to talk about it and that's all that really counts. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. It would, I think. Along the same lines as no carry in a bar, perhaps we should enact a law that makes it illegal to drive to a bar. No, that's silly. Instead, I'd much rather see laws against being in possession of a firearm while intoxicated. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. Yes. And I'll be honest, my first thought was similar to yours, "Duh, of course it's in Hawaii, it's the Asia/Pacific . . .", but after reading that 10 of the top dignitaries were sitting pretty in their Washington embassies only a few miles from Mr. Ridge, I got a little upset. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 18. Disgusting. I agree that the DHS was/is necessary in these times, and I'll cut them some slack for being brand new, but this is unexcusable and a blatent waste of -my- money. Isn't Ridge stepping down soon? Hopefully his successor will do a better job at running the DHS. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  19. How is that different than the other assumptions in this thread that the CCW holder would have been ineffective or perhaps even made the situation worse? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  20. Agreed. To all of the low-timers reading this thread, this is one case where I beleive jump numbers mean something. MJO Sparky has 2500+ and LiveLifeGoJump has a little over 200. 21. Bill, it was a pretty good show, really. I think that given the 1/2 hour they had to work with that they did a commendable job without so much as a hint at the 'sport death' theme. Hopefully you'll get the chance to see it soon. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  25. I've never thought of the pro-gun stance as one that wants to shove gun ownership down people's throats, but rather one fights for my freedom to own a gun if I choose to do so. The anti-gun stance on the other hand absolutely wants to take that choice away from me, shoving their position down my throat. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends.
