Uh. Yeah. Ya see. I did that. There's nothing playing music. I'm afraid. Oh. And it was _me_ who ate the other Advil. And I'm going to eat the rest soon!

Uh. I was listening to Factory Showroom by TMBG on my computer. I took the CD out and the music is still playing. Help me make it stop! Arrrghhh!

WooHoo! 16. I'm a world cup breast spotter, or something. Mmm.. Breasteses.

That's awsome! Congratulations. Sounds like you'll be back in the air in no time at all. - Jim

This is correct - the canopy won't have the opportunity to reinflate without you acting as an anchor at the end of the lines. - Jim

I don't want to be an asshole, but this is how rumors and misinformation gets spread. You say in your own commentary (and likely what you'll tell your whuffo friends) that his parachute did not open. When only a few lines later the news article reports that his parachute did not open completely. I don't know about you, but I think that's a hell of a difference. Apparently it opened enough to save his life, correct? If you're going to report these things then at least get the facts straight. - Jim

0:1:0 The weather in south Jersey wasn't so great this weekend. Oh well. - Jim

Can you ask your instructors to put you back on radio for a few jumps? This might help. If you can ask them to put you on radio, you can probably ask them for canopy coaching too. If you don't feel comfortable asking them for canopy coaching then you might consider a trip out to Elsinore or Deland. Both of these schools have canopy control programs. Good luck. - Jim

Funny. There's one in my companies parking lot right now. Same color and everything. It's a beautiful automobile. - Jim

Depends on where you've decided you're going to be 20ft too short. If you're still at 500 ft and you realize this then you may be able to use your rear risers or brakes to get the extra distance, however if you realize this 20ft off the ground then just deal with it. Remember, when you let the canopy fly again it's going to dive - you don't want to initiate a dive 20ft off the ground. Be careful. - Jim

I guess it was about two years ago there was a fatality due to someone falling out of their harness because of a misrouted chest strap. Ever since that incident a regular part of my gear check is a few really good tugs on the strap to make absolutely sure it's fastened correctly. - Jim

Less time posting, more time jumping. That's the cure.

In the spirit of learning from the mistakes of others, I'm curious, what's the stupidest thing you've ever done? You know the one, you look back on it now and say to yourself "What in the hell was I thinking? I could have been [killed|maimed|broken]" How did it turn out? What was the lesson you learned? Personally, I've had a couple of them and luckily have survived each one. Probably the one that struck me the most though was kicking out of line twists until right about 1,000 feet. That was early last year and since then I've been very aware of my altitude under canopy. - Jim

Yeah, that's wonderful. Parents refuse to accept that the kid is just fucked up so they need to go after the company with the big pockets. "We couldn't have a raised a screwed up kid, it _must_ have been his pimple medicine."

That was #200 at last years Easter Boogie. She probably could have gotten away without being pied (too badly anyhow), but she just wouldn't shuddup about how noone was going to be able to pie her. #500 should be worse.

And... to learn more about the very famous, and poorly reported, McDonald's coffee case go here It's interesting reading, most people don't know the facts and if they did they wouldn't cite this as a frivilous case. Google is your friend. - Jim

That sounds like a new one for the Wheel of Debauchery.

That same rumor has it that Stacy will be hitting 500 that weekend. She's requested that she be tied to the Tiki bar and pelted with pies. Special CK pies, even.

She may very well be referring to you. Now do yourself a favor and listen to the woman, _not_ because she's conservative, but because she's seen you fly, she knows how current you are, and has a better idea of your abilities than more than 99% of the people here. Stay safe... - Jim

What a load of crap. I'd love to see the justice system throw this jerkoff in jail for wasting the courts time and our tax dollars. Jackass.

You don't want to have to 'grow into' a canopy. The statement alone suggests that you think you'll be flying at the edge, or just beyond the edge of your ability. If you want to buy a 190 then start demoing canopies and work your way down, at a pace that's comfortable for you and those who have to watch you land, to the 190. When in doubt, take the advice of those who have seen you fly. Stay safe... - Jim

No such thing as a dumb question with regards to this sport. Anyhow - You are correct, just yank the drawstrings until the slider is collapsed. I don't know that you'll be able to pull the slider down past the toggles while you've got the metal links and bumbers installed, if you can't at least you'll quiet the slider and that's a plus. If I were you I'd get Slinks or another soft link installed right away, you'll definitely get your slider down past the toggles with soft links. Besides the benefit of getting your slider down, soft links are stronger than the older metal links, they won't come unscrewed, and I'm sure that there are other benefits. Finally - here's my routine at opening. * Look up! Is it there, is it square? * Check traffic. * Turn towards the DZ with rear risers. * Collapse slider. * Pull slider behind my head. * Release brakes and fly. That whole routine only take a few seconds. Good luck and enjoy the new canopy. - Jim

I'm curious, what are some of the more common problems that wingsuit pilots experience? What are some of the more uncommon problems? I guess I'm asking, in a sport where anything can happen, what can or does in wingsuit flight? Thanks Chuck, Jim
