Just finished watching the performances. Really nothing new to say other than if Jason doesn't go home something's very very wrong. Now where's that voting graft someone posted last week.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Missed the show tonight, but that's okay. I'll catch it on Youtube tomorrow sometime. For those of you who know Dave Span from Square One at Perris...He and Kellie Middleton just tied the knot tonight. Attended the wedding and that was much more enjoyable than sitting through another airing of Idol. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

It is done, and flying there at Perris. I'm pretty sure they'll keep the boring white paint. Less expensive and not like the Porter's going to be traveling to any boogies or anything. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

A-License requirements -- What is considered a "Skydive"?

Well, he will be when the BSRs lower minimum container openings to 800 feet. Blues, Dave Good catch. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Poor interpretation. It says the freefall time must be logged. It does not say the value logged needs to be greater than zero. I think you got stuck part way through the thread.... Keep reading. -

Yeah, but "Catfish Air" has such a nice ring to it... Aren't catfish bottom dwellers? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

And here I was expecting a nice fishy Perris paintjob. Then again, it's not as big as a shark...maybe a barracuda? Or a goldfish? It all starts with a base coat, right? I like the barracuda idea. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Well, I thought of e-mailing USPA and waiting for a reply tomorrow morning...However I did a search here on these forums and found this. You might find it interesting. You're not the first student to be confounded by your question. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1023205;search_string=static%20line%20A%20License;#1023205 Now add to that Military S/L questions.... ltdiver To add a further notch of complexity I was informed by one of our instructors that in prior SIMS the military Static Line jumps were not counted and that it has flip-flopped over the course of a few SIM revisions. You would think a simple two or three line paragraph could be added to the SIM to clarify this exact issue. The fact that such an entry DOESNT exist in the SIM makes me believe that the phrase "25 Jumps" is intended to be taken at exactly it's face value, despite any misgivings or prior SIM instructions. So the military guy in that thread (the one that had 125 S/L jumps from 800 feet) would be more than 1/2 way to his "C License".... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

So were they clear and pulls (no help from the instructor) or IAD's? Also, bravo for sticking with it! You'll be an inspiration for those who come after you. You'll be able to sit them down and let them know it's not all lost, just because they aren't perfect the first time around. IMO it's the people who have to work to achieve that goal and hold it more precious than those who just breeze through life. For personal inspiration take a read what one of our current BOD members went through when -she- started...Too Scared to Jump ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Glad you find fun jumping available at Perris and the Farm. I'm sure there are other places that we aren't mentioning as well here... And to 'having to travel' to find what it acceptable...I know you're an excellent flyer...why don't you start creating fun groups where your home location is? Be a leader (call it an L.O. if you want) where you are? Be a giver and create a positive RW environment wherever you happen to be. There will be other 'focused people' wherever you go. Let them have their fun. It's their dollar and time. Create something else for those who want to 'fun jump' with you!

See Under USPA Licenses SIM 3.B-5 "Total freefall time is defined to include both freefall and droguefall time." -
A-License requirements -- What is considered a "Skydive"?
ltdiver replied to Sttucker13's topic in Safety and Training
Okay, I just went back to my very first log book. My instructor interpreted there exactly what I posted above. "Skydive equals Freefall". He did not count the S/L jumps toward my A license since it was not freefall time. Perhaps the interpretation has changed since then (1996). Alot has changed. Yet, the SIM continues to say 'freefalls' and not 'exits from a plane'. -

Wow, well.... that's a lot different than what I've been taught. SIM: 3.1-C Pay particular attention to C-5. Must include freefall time. S/L and IAD do not include freefall time. Clear and Pulls do...at least 1 second. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Skydives amount to Freefalls. Tandems count. Clear and Pulls count. Static lines do not. Since IAD's are like S/L I'm inclined to classify them as 'not'. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Guess you haven't met Mark Brown, Darryld Light, Bob Fergason, etc who are our excellent L.O. guys, there every day making sure everyone is included and having fun. They leave nobody who wants to jump out of the action... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Having not been at the DZ very much this year I missed the unveiling of the Perris Porter last month! Sources at Perris say it's been up in the air, with teams training out of it, alot this past month....and that's not slowing down! Here's a screen shot from the Perris home page. The DZ was just too crazy this past Saturday to sneak over and get a peek of it in the hanger. (Big-ways were happening all weekend long, with Perris' other 4 planes hoofing it without a break sun-up to sun-down). For those of you who love Porters, come on down!!

Or the 'not to scale' 3D model Doc Emmett Brown made. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Extending my legs enough. I have pretty long legs and was taught to flex the knees too much at first (tandem progression is what they did at the DZ I learned at). Taking your socks off and flying with just your shoes on your feet allows you to feel the breeze and helped me kick that poor habit.
