  1. BEST use of non-paragraphs I've ever seen. Really fits the skit to a 'T'. This is one developed scene that's in Fandango that's not in Proof...Thus the spin-off wins hand down from the original. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. "Capacity: 24 troops (seated), 32 troops (floor loaded) or up to 15,000 pounds of cargo" Guess we'd fit into the 'cargo' definition? ...But even then only ~75 would fit (at 200# each). Guess we'd have to get skinny skydivers for the record... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. So, are they back on-line with this helmet, or are you just being a tease? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Eeek, now -that- is scary. Yes, stash your swoop cords. I guess another thank you to the person who taught me to stitch my cord loop open to my hand size is in order. Although it could still catch something at least it wouldn't cinch down on anything. Stash cord loops up sleeve....Check. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. A few options here. --Move the helmet position on your head. (not sure about RAWA, but other helmets allow for baking of the liner to secure a particular fit.) --Something I've done...put a couple of washers -in- the box, threaded over the bolts that secure the box down, to lift the front of the camera up. I had TRV cameras way back when (an 8 and a 10) side by side in identical boxes, but for some reason the 10 viewed low, so I stuck a couple of washers in there and it corrected the problem just fine. --Final option---get a new rig. Some rigs have a high yoke which prevents a person from looking up very high. I know someone who had a Reflex that couldn't look up very far. Next rig was a Javelin which had a lower yoke and suddenly the problem was fixed. Good luck with whatever you decide. As a cameraflyer we're always adjusting and playing with things. Don't be afraid to experiment. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Interesting post, Larry. My sequence after deployment and good canopy check is: --Check for traffic and locate DZ. --Harness or riser turn to face DZ if traffic allows. --Clap for student (if filming a tandem or AFF) --Turn off camera (hands are already up on my risers for deployment anyway). --Collapse slider --Remove loops --Release toggles For the first time I'm really glad to not have releasable wings. I'm light enough not to need them. My wings end at my waist and have no clips. I can reach my slider, toggles, and camera just fine. I remove my loops to fly the canopy, however. I also don't loosen my chest straps, adjust my leg straps, nor remove my booties. My boat of a canopy flies just fine the way it is, without harness loosening. It's a Spectre-135 loaded about 1.4 on light days and 1.5 when I video and wear weights with fast teams (and heavy students). If I ever discover a hung toggle my rig is still in place, and nothing is flapping around to obscure my visual of my handles. One question for those of you who wear 2-piece camera suits. I believe there are attachment points between jacket and pants, so your jacket doesn't ride up over your handles. Correct? Do you always use them? And if you chose to wear shorts instead, how do you secure your jacket? :^( ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Yes. You understand the irony. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. "V for Vengeance"? or "V for Vendetta"? They're both fighting the totalitarian system. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. This is how my tennis shoe use goes: 1) Buy new shoes, wear them for work and non-skydiving activities. Try and keep them nice...until... 2) New shoes that are now too worn to look nice anymore become my skydiving shoes. 3) Skydiving shoes that are now pretty battered become my gardening shoes. I've used this cycle for the past 12 years and it's served me great. They all wear out to their next level about the same time. Guess I might make another category now: 4) When the gardening shoes get replaced with my skydiving shoes....the gardening shoes go to the dog. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. They want to run health care. That should scare everyone. It will not be fast or cheap or good. I've had to tighten my belt quite a bit over the past 6 months (on disability from an injury), but at no time in my life was it even tighter than when Hillary got ahold of the healthcare system in the 90's. Yes, I'm scared. Not just for my profession, but for everyone in the country if she gets ahold of it again. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. You realize that this thread you replied to is from 2007? This year's boogie is from July 2-6. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Just watched "Point Break" again this afternoon. I see what FBI agents can do. I think you're bluffing... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Huh? I didn't find it. Someone posted this in Bonfire. :^) And if you look there it was someone getting skydivers together in San Fransisco for tonight's performance! At the Xeneodrome Theater on Potrero Avenue Since they seem to be booked 2 weeks in advance, my advice is to hook up with the group that's going tonight (send them a PM--listed in the said thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3243781;search_string=Point%20Break%20Live;#3243781) and get one or two of their tickets. Then you'll not only make new skydiver friends you'll have even more fun! Okay. If you get him to do so take pictures!!!! ;^) In fact, this show -started- in Seattle. Perhaps he's already seen it? Hee Hee Hee... Yes indeedie. There's Kapow and Snohomish nearby Seattle, since he seems reticent to coming down here to CA. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. 377, An aside here: Looking at your sig line, and what Ckret feels he 'bounces between' (Johnny Utah and Johnny Castle) I think both of you should team up and see this production: "Point Break--Live!" Being immersed in an FBI vs "skydiver" case might stimulate a bit of brain cells and help move -this- case along. You could fight over who gets to play Johnny Utah. I'd never heard of this theatrical performance until yesterday (someone posted it in Bonfire)...but hey, it'd be a hoot to attend! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. IMO it's not the best form to mix a foreign DZ with flying camera for the first time. I'd leave the set-up at home and fly it at your home DZ when you get back. "Blueberry Hill"? And my apologies in advance if you've been flying camera already and this is just a new helmet... :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Well...Humph..... Don't know if it works for you, but when my sister went back packing she found that putting on 2 pairs of socks (nylon on the inside, cotton on the outside...or other way around, I don't remember). The outer sock rubs on the inner one and keeps the skin from getting chaffed. Also, mole skin for those areas that blister can help. Or is that too old school? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. that looks friggin AWESOME, how long is the season? OMG! I can just see a room full of skydivers at this show. I'd be rolling on the floor, laughing hysterically ... literally! "Pull! No YOU Pull!" ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

    Found Camera

Recently our news broadcast a story about this site. Their recommendation was to ALWAYS take a picture of your business card, that way if the camera gets lost they can view your contact info and track you down. Kind of like a luggage tag for your suitcase. ltdiver edit to add: Ever hear about The Found Bin? You can log in and see what's been found and if your lost (whatever) is there. Nice idea! I hear airports have something like this set up as well... Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. Bookmarked your blog. Looking forward to reading all yours and Mary's adventures! My sister hiked the John Muir trail back in the 70's and really loved it. Of course, she was the only girl in a group of men, too... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. So are you going to tell us what it is, or do we have to pound you? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. I saw your show last year from the roof of my house.
  22. Hope they took that coffee-thingamajigger. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. It's called "The Kiss of Deaf"! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,367942,00.html I understand the mechanics, but damn!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. BLEW THEM OUT OF THE WATER!!!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. I've done ground crew for that show over the past several years. Missed last year due to having to stay home with my nervous puppy, though. Here's the info for those who are interested in going: http://www.inlandempire.us/rss/article.php?client=redfusion&id=20080616135158 It really worth attending. The whole event, from start to finish is one of the best 4th of July shows I've ever been to. Just plan on not getting home to early...the streets are narrow and the crowds trying to leave afterwards are numerous in number. Oh, and if you'd like to bring you'll have to be very discrete..they don't allow it in the stadium. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
