Electric Bicycles. Billvon Feel Free to Offer Your Advice...
ltdiver replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I have a friend who made it a mission to ride his bike down from Victorville (where he lived) to San Diego a few years back. There is a part of I-15 that allows bikes as there is no other route down through the pass. If that's not scary enough, he was almost blind when he did this. His wife (and kids) followed him with their van to provide a bit of protection. This is an amazing man. He never said quit when he was diagnosed and lost his driver's license. He started riding his bike back and forth to work instead and even got a job helping others. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
My sister found one of these last year. I can't imagine anyone arriving back down to earth injury free with A WWII BSA Paratrooper Bicycle strapped to them...but they did! "Allied use of the bicycle in World War II was limited, but included supplying folding bicycles to paratroopers and to messengers behind friendly lines. The successful British raid on a German radar installation at Ste. Bruneval, France in 1942 was conducted by airborne cycle-commandos with the aid of such folding bikes." Picture of a paratrooper standing at the door, ready to lauch with his folded bike attached: http://bcoy1cpb.pacdat.net/BSA_position_jump_from_Dakota.jpg From this web page: http://bcoy1cpb.pacdat.net/new_page_1.htm Video of the bike frame here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qradWhEnwhk Amazing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Because no tunnel will let you fly in there with something that has potential of coming loose. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I've seen many tandem students with their laces flying in the breeze. Makes for great video as it gives their whuffo friends a sense of the speed the pair is going. (long hair does this too...but I feel kinda sorry for the TM when they're enveloped in it. ) As for losing shoes, the only ones I've personally seen is a CReW wrap. The unlucky gimp taught me a lesson that day...Always keep a spare pair in your car for episodes like this. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

The video on that site is priceless. Too bad my commute -has- to be part way over freeways. No bikes allowed. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Where's the Southern Cross DC-3 now?
ltdiver replied to BillyVance's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
You're saying the Southern Cross is done flying jumpers? Just referring to the new FAA regs that Tim posted here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3240786;#3240786 ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

ltdiver replied to BillyVance's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
It's too bad the DC3's won't be flying jumpers anymore. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Any chance of uploading it? That was YEARS ago, and back then we gave the roll of 35 to the customer to take home. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

We had a tandem up in WA who mistakenly thought she was told to cover her mouth. So she did so, with her hand, the whole way down! Funny pictures! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Mine came today as well. They're just too cute! Tried to fly the little rubber frogs but I almost hit my dog with it instead. Guess I should go outside to do the flying. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Found a very well done video of Casey Deegan (with freefall footage) here:

Liked the video. Loved the article. Nicely written. Thanks for sharing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

You're correct. However, this is not the first version. That came out last year and was tested....quite positively I might add. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

A-if no one has ever done it *there* before, it's a record. But of course... B-If it gets him funding (even if everyone has done it) it's a record. $$ is the root of all . C-the media may have made that up for him. That recently happened to me. Reporter put worms in my mouth. Most likely. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Jo, Just a thought: You've spent years compiling your knowledge and data, yet have been unable to deliver concrete, tangible evidence defending your conclusion. Now it's the guys on this forum's turn to do their own style of gathering. They're attempting to put together something that they hope will yield evidence they can put their own hands on as well. Let's give them leave to do so. Deal? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I'll defer to billvon's post on the subject since I haven't been at the DZ lately to hear from the horse's mouth what's up exactly. I know they've spent alot of time, love (and $$) for the men's vacuum. I'd be a shame if only the ladies were able to keep theirs. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Okay, call me dense...but how does a landing area make one a record? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
