  1. This is the second time have have heard of this "Lo" group, family, couple. Who are they? L.O. as in Load Organizers. A great group of guys and gals (some of them world record holders too) who will make sure you are welcomed and have a good time at Perris! And on Saturday nights we all treck over to 'The Mayor's' place to feast. He owns (and operates) the local Mexican restaurant. We usually end up closing the place every Saturday night during the summer months! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Absolutely! We all marveled at the food made at Nationals last year. I think everyone wanted to steal the cook away and take him to their own DZ! :^) Have they built that restaurant for him yet? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Congratulations David! To you and Skygal! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. As stated above, Triathlons are great canopies. Usually open within ~500' and on heading. I flew one for about 500 jumps and loved it. The only reason I switched to a Diablo of the same size was that I wanted a little more fire in the flying. Got it alright...and the slower openings needed for camera work as well. I'd recommend a Trialthon to most anybody who's looking to buy a first or second canopy....(unless they're flying camera, the openings are a bit too snappy for that set-up). Good luck on your hunt! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. On the other side of the coin. When I got a new pc, my 135 opened so fast I thought it was really going to break my neck! I did everything I could to slow it down....larger stows+double wraps on the bands+rolling the tail more+rolling the nose....NOTHING worked! I had to go back to an older pc for anything to come out nice on deployment. I also choose my packer very carefully, too (when and if I use one at all). They are all very qualified to pack any canopy and rig, but one will pack that crack opening (even when I ask that it be packed to open slow), and another will pack it with a nice slow opening. I sat there and watched this slow opening packer pack my rig one day. He folded the nose just slightly on either side of the center cell, then rolled the tail only twice. He double wrapped the (large) rubber bands, and WALLA!!! Beautiful openings every time! I've copied him every since and my openings are beautiful! But if I pack as the manual says to pack a Spectre, I can guarantee that at least 1/2 of my openings will threaten to break my neck. My next Spectre will probably have it's own story to figure out... They are not all created equal, ya know. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Awe shucks, no. I was shooting digital pics with my video camera on the Memory Stick, so the film wasn't running at the time. Too bad, too...since he seemed a bit put out that you got the wrong individual the first time around! It was funny, though! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Interesting, my Mac didn't get even one pop-up.... :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

You called, jt? Video frame grabs on the "incident". #36-40. (or are you looking for something else I might have?) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Too true, however from my experiance the "new" camera jumper has little time, patience, or experience to do this. And so we, as experienced cameraflyers, need to keep a sharp eye out and volunteer to be mentors to the newbies. Invite them to ask questions and direct them in the way they should go. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. I'll tell you why I’m loyal, because Melanie drove an hour each way to visit me in the hospital after a minor skydiving accident. She also took the time to chug a starbucks frappucciuno, then hold the empty bottle in the exhaust stream of an otter so I could have the smell of jet fuel in my hospital room. I'm loyal because Skydive Perris has extended the offer of unlimited free tandems and tunnel time to our fellow skydiving brother Keith Meller. Families aren’t this nice to each other . . . that’s why I’m loyal! Jason, I was there the day that Melanie filled that little glass bottle with Otter fumes for you. She was laughing and smiling and was hoping you'd like the idea as much as she did creating it. We were all cheering her and loving the idea. She is an incredible DZO, with lots of energy and giving to her skydiving family there. As for Keith's gift....! Wow, I didn't know about this give-back she's offered. Keith has to be touched. He's done 2 tandems to date. One, just 8 months to the day from the day of his accident (I filmed the tandem that day), the other just a month or two ago when he showed up at the DZ just to hang out....and Melanie offered him a free tandem ride. Why are we loyal to Perris? Because of the family there. And the family just keeps on growing...
  11. Sadly, no. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. That's really cool in the first picture, to see a canopy in flight behind the tunnel! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. LOL. Love the dancing boobahs! Just make sure you wear headphones in the class room if you click on this one, Lisa! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. Katie! I had the distinct privilege of jumping with some Marines yesterday. They had just returned from Iraq 4 weeks ago and came out as a big group to do tandems and AFF's. I told them about your return to the states and they sent their hello's to you! They were also very sad that you were having to return to duty in a few weeks, and wished you had the same reprieve as they enjoy right now. They thought it was very cool that you were a skydiver! And after their jumps, were even more impressed! Of all my students, I really think these Marines were the best students ever! They already know how to learn and take direction well! :^) The 3 men in my AFF FJC said they'd be back! And I hope they mean it! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  17. Do you mean this incident? Ivan Lester McGuire ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Really? None of the other jumpers mentioned it to them? Or the pilot? Not that I'm doubting your word, it just seems improbable that no one would notice a jumper that wasn't wearing a rig at all. Yes, it has happened. One one occasion, I'm told, the cameraflyer was wearing a 'harness' that connected the recording unit to his chest (?), and the camera was on his head. This gave him the illusion that his rig was on. On another occasion, a very experienced instructor was in the plane, releasing S/L students. He was not planning on jumping....just going up and releasing his students, then riding the plane back down. His impulse, after the last student left, was to jump out after them! He caught himself just as he started to exit and remembered that he didn't have his rig on!!!! He now wears his rig each and every time he goes up, even if he doesn't plan on jumping. Just in case. These are just two incidence I know about. There may be more. And yes, when I had just started flying camera (in WA), I was caught going to the plane without my rig. I was filming a tandem and was absorbed with the ground production part of it. I was getting the 'walk to the plane' section when another cameraflyer tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Say, are you forgetting something?"! I nearly fainted! Since then, I've been very meticulous about what procedure I use in equipment donning before each jump. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  20. Still looking over the candidates for this election (tonight, we still don't know the whole group that will be on the ballot). However, perhaps Arnold's having a University Bachelor's Degree in Business and International Economics gives him some insight. That's more than some posters here. 24. Yep. The hardest thing I had to learn was how to fill up a glass with liquid. I kept thinking it was full when it was only 1/2 way there! Driving...had to learn how to be -really- careful during lane changes, but otherwise it was ok. Parallel parking became easier, as did my spacing behind other cars...I -thought- I was closer than I really was!...so my distance was greater, thus safer now. One thing that I never cued into, though, was that I cock my head to the left naturally now. I guess to line up my vision in it's central field with the right eye. This was pointed out, lovingly, by our own effinjump. He said I looked sexy that way! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
