  1. Because in a fire fight it makes a heck of a lot more sense to shoot at the guy that's shooting at you rather than the guy handing him bullets. Unless the bullet-handler is supplying more than one source. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Absolutely. And with any person trying to commit terrorist acts, when you put them in the headlights of the world they tend to chill for awhile. OBL was (and is) in the forefront of the world's sites, thus rendering him a bit more cautious in his visible undertakings. Saddam, however, was doing things more discretely (to the world), thus wasn't under the world's thumb and focus (at that time). He wielded his power (at home) with disregard as to who he hurt, though. Turning the spotlight on Saddam took nerve and resolve. Especially when it wasn't popular with the rest of the planet. It'll be very interesting to find out what was -really- in the background of this man as the interrogation continues. Everyone -knew- OBL was evil. Now it's time to prove that Saddam not only turned his country into a blood-field and terror filled country but also supported known terrorists that cover more area than we even can imagine. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. So, why does it matter which bastard we get first? Seems that the most threatening one (at that time) was pursued and now has a wonderful clean bunkhouse in our custody. We can turn our sights back on the other hiding 'madster-mind' now... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

    EBAY Humor

Pretty damn funny! Thanks for a laugh on this good Wednesday morning. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. 100 Years Ago, The Dream of Icarus Became Reality Thursday 17 December 1903, in the USA, on the deserted beaches of North Carolina, at a place called Kitty Hawk. The dawn was grey and misty. The engine started and it ticked over perfectly. Orville Wright applied full power and released the tether. The Flyer slid along the rail slowly gaining speed. Five people from the village witnessed this historic event : the first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air powered flight. Paying tribute to this feat, FAI publishes on its Webpage a text written by an enthusiastic Swiss private pilot, who offered to describe in his own words this historic flight, which marked the beginning of an extraordinary human and technological era for mankind : http://www.fai.org/news_archives/fai/000295.asp ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. We ALL know how reporters turn and twist the 'truth' in their broadcasts. Just look at the inaccuracies of skydiving fatality reports to get the flavor on this one. It's good that he doesn't have to confuse the issues with the blantant lying to the public masses that the news feeds us. Better to get it as close to 'straight from the horses mouth' as possible than filtered through a multitude of sources. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Frickin' COLD, but loads of fun! Can't wait for May! See you there, Rob! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. This, of course, would be on a per jump basis. Very true. Yet, we've all known people who have spent in excess of $30k in just one season of competitive training. So, the other spectrum has to be considered as well. What's the adage: Spend 50% of your income for the rest of your life (on skydiving)... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Yeah, right! When was the last time you made just one jump on a weekend? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. Your accuracy is most likely alot higher than most skydivers with your experience level due to the fact your landing area was a bit tighter than most while you were first learning. I had this same experience as a student in that our landing area was next door to a power station on one side and a road with power lines on the other. We got -real- good about just -how- to sink a canopy in between these two obstacles. When I went to a MUCH larger DZ it was just SO easy to both find the landing area from altitude, spot, and land on the DZ...piece of cake! :^) (Perhaps that's why getting a PRO rating wasn't all that hard in the target requirement when it came time for that bit. ) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. I'll triple the opinions listed above as to the fact that this camera is far from entry level. Since I've attached the 20mm Canon lens I've loved the pictures captured with it. Prints are coming out awesome. No issues with the remote switch at all (stereo Conceptus tongue switch). CF door has always stayed closed (though did take a suggestion to tape it down after the first jump secondary to -others- jumping the D60 -have- had a few events with the door coming open on their camera). I've only had it a month or so but I already can't believe it took me so long to go digital... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Where I jump they require that you have: 1) Minimum of 500 jumps 2) Be an AFFI 3) Be cleared by the school and the TM you'd be jumping with. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Absolutely! This guy spent the rest of the afternoon on the ground icing his ankle, but was back in the air the next morning with us. His report was that he hadn't swore that loud or long in freefall ever before! His whole helmet was resonating with his #*^*#!!, he said! He hit his ankle right behind the bone, tore a big hole in his bootie, ripped his sock, and tore off his shoe. Skin still intact, but he's going to have one hell of a bruise! When you dive with Tony you give your all and best effort with every skydive. This guy did! If memory serves, he even made it into the 30-way formation as well! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  15. Fantastic! Did you see the hole he was living in? It's amazing that in the way he looked that he was still considered to be in good health. A bright new day is dawning... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

So, suz, I've always wondered how a country can have Christmas without any snow on the ground! Your Christmas cards have snow on them right? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  18. Same settings you normally have used on your 35mm camera with 200 iso selected. This is my preference and the pictures are coming out AWESOME!

  21. Thanks! I'm using the Canon 20mm lens for thos pictures. It beats the 'kit lens' all to hell.

Welcome to skydiving and good luck on your level 2! And like others have said here, RELAX and have a good time! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
