  1. Unrelated, but this next video shows some thinking outside the box! Putting a different kind of oar in the water . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5iDvBW__rI&feature=related Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Heck, and here I was about to post about the New Interactive Cell Phone announced today. Darn it! Guess I'll just have to sit back and be a good girl. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. On a few occasions, when work wasn't bringing in the cash needed to support a Christmas fund I created gifts from what I had. One year is was re-gifting (unemployed that year). Another was giving things from around the house that I really didn't need and others would enjoy (disability that year). And yet a third was having my parents sit for portraits then printing and framing them and giving those to the family. Love digital SLR cameras. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Wow, you're hot! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. I was searching on-line for my little towns touted Christmas Light Spectacular that gets put up every year and found this little eye popper. Eat your heart out billvon!
  6. Flashback here! When I was earning my degree at the University I decided to elect for pass/fail in an archery class (afraid I couldn't earn the "A" I needed < well, wanted > ). I was kinda ticked off when I excelled at the class and -would- have been awarded an "A", should I have stayed with the grading system for that class. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. While married we would put up a tree. Now single again I have a little tin tree (with built-in lights) that I use every year. Nice and no mess to clean up after the holidays. This year, however, I located our old fake tree in the attic. Forgot it was even there! Put it together tonight and it sure looks nice. Now to get a little pine scented air freshener plug-in. 8. How about each and every P.E. class have a day or two of health education that would address healthy diet and lifestyle? That way everyone would be introduced to the subject and nobody would be singled out. Then those who would like to further their education on the subject could take that extra class. BMI score not withstanding. < btw, you wouldn't want to know my BMI score from the fitness class I took in college. . I even cringe at it today. > This might not work for college students like me, since I attended a University that was set-up by my church. Unless they brought in guest speakers . . . ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. I remember those, and found it stimulating to be outside and not in class for a better part of 2 days. :^) Even those who were not as fit seemed to enjoy it (even though it might have been about missing class work that day. ;^) ) I went to private school, and P.E. is still part of the system today. I don't know about public schools, but I would be very disappointed if what you say is true. Don't they know that a kid's mind only has so much attention span and they -need- a break with physical activity to then be able to reengage the mind again? Interesting that you should bring this up. Last night on the news they did a feature with just this intent. Rachel Ray has taken it upon herself to start a trend in New York, which I really hope catches on throughout the nation. (as an aside, it really -is- one of the answers to lowering our health care costs, teaching us how to eat healthy and stay that way.) http://www.abcnews.go.com/Nightline/rachael-ray-school-lunches-yum-upgrade/story?id=9163144 ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. Very true. Sometimes the pain has to be great enough to create the need to change. What I would hope would be that a little seed would be planted and when the time would come the knowledge would grow. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. http://www.examiner.com/x-5445-Politics-in-Education-Examiner~y2009m11d24-Obese-students-forced-to-take-fitness-class-at-Pennsylvania-university I have mixed feelings about this subject. I understand the University's thoughts on this epic problem plaguing not only our generation, but generations to come. I was inspired to take health and fitness classes while at my own university, way back when. It was just a natural way to be healthy and enjoy learning how to stay that way. However, is it fair to -force- obese students to take such a class, or not be allowed to graduate? We all could learn how to become and stay healthy. A little knowledge goes a long way, and perhaps when these students become parents they can inspire their own children to direct their lives in a more active, healthy lifestyle. IMO, all universities should offer such classes. However, should it be a requirement? And if so, shouldn't it be for ALL students, just not a select few? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Perhaps. This web blog post from 2005 lists a value of $54. http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000992.html ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Thanks. Just sent them the little story. Might get a chuckle or two. Their web site, however, doesn't have a way to send a picture with the story. Ah well. If they're interested at least a little bit I'm sure they'll contact me back. Wonder if I should put them on ebay and see what happens . . . 14. Cleaning the garage can be fun, it seems. Haven't done it in years, and it seems the rafters for over 20 years! Little history . . . I bought this house from my grandparents, who lived in it since 1976. They bought it from an 80 year old lady, who was the first owner. Anyone identify this poster? Only research I've found (on one web page) says it's of Jack Benny's promo for Texaco gas. Inspired by a WWI recruiting poster. But what's the rest of the story? Are these of any value? I have 2 of them, in decent shape. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. One of the best wedding gifts we received was a "cookbook" compiled of all my family's favorite recipes. Mom, sisters, aunts, grandmas, etc. All chipped in. So nice to have in those first few years. A nice, thoughtful gift. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Ever think of speaking with her and finding a solution? She may not even realize she's doing anything 'wrong'. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. I had to laugh at this brilliant idea. I've never thought of a dishwasher as a 'mixing-melting' appliance for preparation of food. You gave me a whole new look at this machine. Do you leave the 'heat-booster' selection turned on, or do you just let the hot water from the tap do the job? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  19. Noticed that the House was in session today and the healthcare bill is one step closer by a very narrow vote. http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=126523&catid=222 This will continue to be interesting, on all fronts. I work in a very poor (and crime ridden) neighborhood. We are constantly admitting those on Medi-Cal (California's version of healthcare for those on welfare). Since these folks are already covered I wonder how a Federal Healthcare Bill will effect them. And of course, as healthcare providers, us. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. Just another definition of "Introvert vs Extrovert" . . . Introvert doesn't mean 'shy' or 'wants to be alone' necessarily. I can mean someone who problem solves on their own. Without asking for outside help. Extrovert doesn't have to mean 'outgoing or a leader'. They are people who gather a group together to do their problem solving. Outside opinion is valued more than seeking the answer within. Nothing wrong with either one, just their innate way of coming up with life's answers. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. Yep. On my 5th skydive, way back when I was still a student. First jump I had video on as well. Turns out I was smiling with my mouth open (for the camera). Air rushed in faster than I could breathe. Next skydive I kept my mouth shut and the problem was solved. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. Ever read the book "Personality Plus"? It's quite an eye opener and can assist an individual in understanding different personalities and how they function. Their strengths, weaknesses, and how to comprehend what they fundamentally need in life. I highly recommend this read. The insight is amazing. Answer me this . . . If you were involved in a theatrical performance, which role would you prefer? --The Actor --The Director --The Set Designer --The Audience Those individuals labeled as 'shy' just might be the ones who are behind the scenes keeping the ball rolling, but not wanting the limelight. Think about it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Two comments: 1) If it's a dried out nose, try vaseline on a Q-tip and swab the inside of the nose. Keeps the tissue moisturized and then it won't bleed. 2) I had a severe nose bleed earlier this year. I consulted my ENT and he cauterized the offending surface blood vessel. I used both methods and now, for the last 10 months, there have been no nose bleeds. Hope this helps. Nose bleeds are nothing to sniff at. Get the problem fixed. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  25. If Cory would ever do anything actually original except lip sync to other people's music, I might agree, but that guy is a total tool ripping off other people's work. "Sprung" is kinda fun.
