  1. and I'm reading thinking - "didn't they already do that?" Yep. Crystal Pepsi ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. To add to what JP already said, I switched from a bite switch to a tongue switch mainly because when I would bite down on a bite switch it would bob my video camera framing up and down (I was using a camera helmet with a chin cup). I didn't like that less than quality footage, so switched to something smoother. No need to constantly open and shut the teeth with a tongue switch. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Okay....Guess I got fooled by the title of your thread. "digital camcorder with remote plug. Among us skydivers, there are two main camps in the digital camera department. Some swear by Canon. Others by Nikon. Both make great digital SLR's. Both can be used successfully for skydiving. ALL are SLR's. I don't know of any 'point and shoot' digital cameras that are used for our sport. I chose to stay with Canon for 2 reasons in the beginning. 1) I already had lenses from my 35mm Canon days that would transfer over to the digital realm (minus the 1.6 conversion factor), and 2) there were already alot of cameraflyers who had tested the cameras in the air and found they had great results. So, I stayed with Canon. I've had no complaints with my Canon 300D, other than it doesn't flush the buffer fast enough for a series of swoop shots. In the air it behaves just fantastic. :^) There are others who swear by Nikon. I'll let them tell their story. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Here is a picture of my '98 Mustang after the wreck. Interestingly enough, 3 1/2 years later, I went test driving the '06 Mustang GT today. Now....can I resist temptation.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Is that the same time as the AZ Valentines Meet? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Leaving the DZ as well, Keely. Remember when the new stop signs were put in at Case Road (and Goetz)? The truck didn't stop and t-boned my beautiful Mustang. Totaled it. Wrecked my neck for 6 months. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Yes, you can...through the on-screen menu. However, I believe popeyefireman is talking about not allowing the camera to turn off automatically (the 3 minutes between stand-by and hitting record). No, there isn't. And actually it isn't good to spin the camera heads for even -that- long. It has been known by alot of cameraflyers that this stand-by function can strip the tape and put artifacts on the record heads...thus rendering yourself with a minute of the dreaded blue screen when you -thought- the camera was recording your most important jump ever. I turn my camera (TRV22, 8, 10, etc) to stand-by only when the red light (door!) light of the plane goes on. That's just enough time for the camera to fire-up before climb-out. I hit the record button just before climb-out (or when the previous group is on the "set" of "ready-set-go!").
  8. Are you looking for a camcorder (video camera) or a still camera? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. First read the manual. Then play with the camera for awhile and see what you get. Any problems crop up, come on back and ask questions.
  10. **Bump** Good luck in your new endevour, Curt. We're going to miss you in -our- little valley. Hope the SF Valley knows how good a man they're getting! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. Not disputing this at all. Just posting something that I didn't believe, like you, existed at all. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Well I'll be.....didn't think they existed. Lookie Here!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. You -could- put the lens in a low temperature oven and bake the moisture out. First drill a pin size hole in the side of the lens (be careful) then put it in the oven. Not sure of the time, but it -can- work for getting moisture out of the inside of the lens. The lens probably would not be usable in the air again, but it could be used for ground without a problem. (give as a gift to a wuffo? ) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. Yes it does. I have and use it as well. However, the poster was asking specifically about inside the lens fogging. Can't get Cat Crap inside there! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. That sounds alot like a job I had when I was 16. Stacking cut 2x4's, 2x2's, 1x1's, etc....in pattern on a pallet...stacking them in a predetermined way for stability. At least we got to talk while working, though. The poor cutters up the conveyer belt line had to stand in one spot and cut, cut, cut...with nobody next to them, just cut and drop on the belt...grab the next length of board and cut the sections again. It's the job that really convinced me that college education really -was- in my future. Those poor saps are probably -still- at that job 25 years later! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Actually 4 DZ's at once. Snohomish, WA. Buckeye, AZ. Otay Lakes, CA. and where I learned: Palm Desert, CA (called "Parachutes over Palm Springs" or "POPS" for short). One of the most beautiful flights I ever went on was when Jamey's manager at Otay called for help and we all piled into the C-182 and flew down there. I've never driven to Otay by car, but remember well the flight from Bermuda Dunes in Palm Desert....over the mountains into Otay. Beautiful people and a unique atmosphere there. Got to meet the DZ dog, Malfunction, who you -had- to pet for good luck before boarding the plane. :^) Then the flight back to "POPS" at sunset. If I had a scanner I'd post the pictures I have here of that flight. Absolutely gorgeous. The sun setting as we crossed the mountains again, with Jamey at the controls, Shirley, his wife, flying right seat....the 2 TI's and me in the back. Wonderful memories. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. By "Borderland" are you talking about Otay? In my mind, Browns Field was always "Skydive San Diego", or do I have things mixed up? Buzz bought Otay from Jamey Woodward. I sat through an AFFI Course at Browns Field. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Hear they were looking for an editor for "Parachutist". ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. Yup, you are correct. I did this and it made a world of difference when I finally strapped a camera on my head. Good advice. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. Did a quick search and found this advice from Fuzzy. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. That picture just damn hurts! Ouch! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. A couple of years ago I was filming a record attempt by "Pieces of Eight" out of the SkyVan at Perris. ATC called up to Rob, the pilot, that there was traffic right below him! He looked, then laughed. It was the formation of metal arms and legs that was picked up on radar. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
