  1. So then you didn't get the "new" freebag/speedbag and I guess you didn't know what you did get. Our new freebag
  2. Yes it is a speed bag. You may think you know because "becasue my g/f lost her freebag and the new on is as described" but the fact is that I actually make them so I am sure that I do know what they are.
  3. The teflon cable issue was resolved long ago and is no longer a problem. If anyone has one of the old cables that need replacing then they should return it for replacement. As for the freebag issue that is a choice as it works correctly. And I would say there are a lot of people that like it looking at the sales increase since it was introduced.
  4. Are you sure about that? Do you know all of the products Jump Shack makes that are used by others in the industry? Define "standardized"? Using your statement above no one should buy a RWS with a skyhook since they are the only one that makes or uses that kind of system (which works very well). Look at the various types of reserve deployment systems, exposed PC, Semi-exposed PC and non-exposed PC. And if a two pin system is so bad then why does the largest manufacture of military parachutes in the world use a two pin system on their ram air rigs? The same rigs that are own military use. I too think that it speaks volumes that most Racer owners wouldn't jump anything else. Or are you saying that they are less capable of making informed decisions? I personally think that all of the top manufactures out there make good rigs and are serving the industry well. Rather than one rig being better than the other I think it is more a choice of what options are offered and what you want.
  5. And you replaced it didn't you? I disagree, however I would say that no rig is tamper proof. There are definitely rigs that have faster reserve deployments than others. The advantage of Jump Shack exposed PC is that it deploys to the full length of the bridal and into the air stream faster. This results in a faster deployed reserve. There have been no reported issues with extended pack times. As the new free bags do not have grommets for the stows it is a non-issue.
  6. The red cables are nylon coated vs. the yellow cables that are lolon coated. The maintenance on the nylon cables is just keeping them clean where on the lolon you should clean and oil them monthly which most skydiver don’t. Also the pull force is reduced 50% on average with nylon. The cost difference on the Cypress is about $150 The benefit of the two pin reserve pilot chute is reduced pressure distribution on the pins and tamper prevention of the hat (the hat can not be twisted on a two pin system) The externally mounted reserve pilot chute provides for direct deployment of the pilot chute into the air stream without having to push any flaps out of the way. As to the reserve, Jump Shack uses a speed bag where every stow is a locking stow to help prevent line dump/bag strip and rubber bands to prevent bag lock since the force of the pilot chute will break a rubber band but will not break a bungee cord.

Well since I am a man the answer has to be have SEX.
  9. The masses? You mean the three people? I doubt that you are a "poor deprived individual" But like I said, I'm not going to take the time it would take to compile the research numbers that "the masses" want at the expense of "my" time. Me, not at all. I didn't invent the system but I personally do agree with it. The fact is, as a result of particular types of malfunctions a product was developed, tested, received a TSO and has been used over the last two years in over 1,500 jumps (actual jumps used) without a reported failure. And to clarify the next question that I am sure will come, no there has not been over a 1,500 reserve jumps, the same bag is also available and used as a main deployment bag. I'm not saying that this is the only, best or final system. But as agreed here, time will be the judge.
  10. Riggerrob, Why, because you say so? Do you really think that I believe that someone with your experience has not seen, read or heard of these types of malfunctions? Again why, is this really how many incidents we need to have in order to address, research or change things. Some people take a proactive vs. reactive approach. Sometimes it works or is worthwhile following, sometimes not. Like I said before time will be the judge. And yes I am too lazy to go through all of the material that was used to address the issue just to make you happy.
  11. You are right, I should not have written complete sentences thinking that they would have been taken in complete context rather than individual words. I clearly gave to much intellectual credit to some readers If you came out of it with a "whatever" attitude then I am not going to waist anymore of my time on the issue as others came out with a different perspective. Oh, please, as you are aware the data has been published and is therefore unnecessary to repeat. The issue is that it has occurred not how many times. And if it can be reasonably prevented then why not? No one is forcing you to change your ways but why would you denounce anyone that was willing to make an improvement? So tell me how many malfunctions or deaths do we have to endure before it constitutes a need to change for you? Well see that’s where we differ. I think the people that have died or been the victim of the failures would disagree. But I would rather have someone trying to resolve an issue no matter how small the percentage than someone who blows it off as being "not broken". Again you do not have to change the way you do things but in all fairness don't take away the choice of those who want change. I disagree because the fact is there have been safety stow failures where there has been no failures of the band stow speed bag reserve system. I guess the bottom line is time will tell and be the final judge. The other option is we stop trying to make improvements on what we have because what we have is good enough. Personally I hope people will keep trying. Stay safe, come to Florida and get out of the rain, the first beer is on me.
  12. And I'm sure that you will report that $5,000+ canopy as "other" compensation when you do your tax return
  13. Is that the new "FREE" canopy you got? P.S. Nice Pic.
  14. Well since you are avoiding the question I can't address it. This, as you are aware was covered at length at the PIA conference and not just by Jump Shack but also at length by your peers. And do you really want to get into the childish argument about "inconsistent strength"? Because there have been reserve bag strips that have left the canopy in the container, line strips and bag locks. Are you really asking why I would rather have a band break than have a bag lock on a reserve? And why do all of the major canopy manufactures use bags where all of the stows are locking stows when testing? And you might want to check your percentages ("90%"), as to how many people are using mil-spec. bands since the most commonly sold bands are Keener bands, which are mi-spec. If you would like to continue this healthy constructive debate, I would invite you to do so in PM's, phone calls or in person. Stay safe, Mike
  15. According to whom? I used the word "should" not "will in all cases come hell or high water". And are you saying that mil-spec. bands are not better than just using any old band? The purpose for specifying mil-spec. is that they are more consistent. And yes they do reduce the chance of bag lock. And they defiantly are more likely to break in comparison to bungee cord type safety stows.
  16. Bad news, the only approved canopy is Paraflite's 370 series, but you can contact them at 856-663-1275 or email Mike Murphy at ParaM2@aol.com. If there is a conflict between the canopy and container manufactures the container manufacture prevails.
  17. Actually the way that we measure finished canopy volume is to place the canopy in a cylinder and measure the actual volume.
  18. No, the stows should be placed so that 50% is in the center between the stows and 25% on the outside of stow. Size doesn't matter() as this is also the way it is done on tandems. If you are using the proper mil spec. rubber bands they should always break and prevent any bag lock.
  19. Just get them put on and it is one less thing you have to worry about. It only takes about 10 min. and you know where you can get it done for free anyway
  20. That's what can happen when you do a down wind landing on a parking lot
  21. I thought that is what work is for.....to have a place to be paid to post from
  22. Since every rig we make is CAD based it only takes about 10 min. to punch out a set of pattern templates.
  23. Jump Shack can make any combination you want. You can even get it narrow and thick or wide and thin depending on your application.
  24. OK Jeanne, lets up the medication and everything will be fine It was prety funny
