Good Luck Dave! I had day surgery a few weeks ago (shrapnel in my finger) under general anesthesia. One minute I'm talking to the guy. Mid-sentence I'm OUT! Never knew what hit me. And I was giggly as hell coming out of it I was worried about it too (bein a major control freak), but it was kinda fun. Dont sweat it big guy!

Tandem Cutaway Story and a question
SniperCJ replied to turtlespeed's topic in Photography and Video
Sounds like you did good to me. (I always thought it would be hard to pick out a mal.)*** Not to redirect the tread, but I didnt have ANY problem picking out the one I video'ed recently. TM deploys, I flip on my back just as the reserve is deploying in a two-out situation. I'm surprised the TM didnt hear me yelling "Oh SH&T!" -
Here's Gracie. She's a Staffordshire Terrier.

When I first saw you at the pound 15 years ago you were a skinny, loudmouth little black cat, but I couldnt help but love you. Every day you would meet me at the door when I came home and 'talk' to me about your day. I'll miss that. When your kidneys started to fail you, I promised you that as long as you were living a good, pain-free life, I would stand by you. Well, we made it quite a while didnt we old girl? Thank you for sharing your life with me and making my life richer in the process. A little 9 pound cat,,,a 9 pound lump in my throat,,,and a 9 mile hole in my heart. Blue Skies Coco. Tell Bob I said Hi. And I love you both! Attached is a picture of Coco and her buddy Bob.

Geez, this started out as a tribute / goodby to Indian Larry, who built some of the coolest customs around and now its a friggin helmet / no-helmet debate... Lets get back to the topic at hand... Good bye Indian Larry. Rest in Peace.

Personally, had I been Hamm, I would have already given it up and accepted second place. thats what he really won. Why keep the tarnished medal?

Good job saving both your and your student's butts! Ive not yet had a tandem cutaway although I thought I was going to have my first Sunday under a buncha line twists, but we got it sorted out. Ive had 3 sport cutaways. Strong still requires you to have had either a live or intentional cutaway. I agree with the policy personally, because although sport rigs are way different than tandem rigs, I think its the mental aspect theyre looking at. Its one thing to practice hanging in a harness, but its quite another to do it for real under a malfunctioning main. Even an intentional cutaway cant duplicate the mental stress of a real mal.

Ive heard of a couple 22 or 23 years old. I had to put one down a couple years ago that was 15 and my old-girl cat is 16. I'd say if he's healthy, youve got a few years to go.

Do you worry about how you'd react to a malfunction?
SniperCJ replied to Evelyn's topic in Safety and Training
I never worry. Ive had 3, all different. I know Exactly how I will react. -
SWEET! Ive just heard they were doing a FF movie a few days ago. Gonna be something to wait for! FLAME ON!

You cant read this story without thinking about some duct tape and THAT guy's snout... ------------------------------------------------------------ Dog dies after his snout is taped shut Police: The Colony man wanted to stop canine's bark so he could sleep 02:16 PM CDT on Friday, July 23, 2004 By KEVIN KRAUSE / The Dallas Morning News When Glenda Sanchez noticed Bull with duct tape wrapped around his snout, head and neck, the 1-year-old black Labrador retriever had just enough energy to run toward her before collapsing near her feet in the sweltering sun. Richard Swift, brother of the dog's owner, had wrapped the tape around the dog's muzzle on July 14 to stop him from barking so he could sleep, police said. The dog was euthanized later that day after suffering from heat stroke, the SPCA said. Mr. Swift, 42, of The Colony, was arrested two days later on a felony charge of animal cruelty and has since been released from the Denton County Jail on $4,000 bail. He could not be reached for comment Thursday. If convicted, he faces up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine. Lt. George Wintle of The Colony police said a grand jury will hear the case in a couple of weeks. "Just when you think you hear it all, this comes along," said Anita Kelso Edson, spokeswoman for the SPCA of Texas, which worked the case. "It's bad, especially in this hot weather." Rodney and Nanette Swift, who live on Rice Drive, adopted Bull when he was a puppy, and the dog was otherwise well taken care of, Ms. Edson said. The couple was at work that Wednesday when Richard Swift let Bull outside, she said. They could not be reached for comment Thursday. After Richard Swift let Bull outside, the dog wanted back in and started barking. Mr. Swift, who said he works nights and sleeps during the day, told SPCA humane officer Shelley Bailey he taped the dog's mouth shut to "teach him a lesson," she said. "He didn't realize the extent of what he had done," said Ms. Bailey, who used Bull's identification tags to find his address. "It doesn't excuse it. There are all kinds of different ways to stop a dog from barking." Mrs. Sanchez, who owns three dogs, a cat and several birds, said she and her husband were returning from the grocery store about 2 p.m. when they noticed Bull. The couple lives about six houses from the Swifts. "I dropped my groceries," she said. "I said to myself, 'Who could do something like this to an animal, a beautiful dog like that?' You could tell he was very nervous and scared." She said they called police and her husband cut the tape from Bull's mouth while she hosed the dog down with water. It was about 95 degrees out. She remembers crying. "I'm sorry, you do not do that to a dog. It was a very sad sight," Mrs. Sanchez said. "We just found out this morning that he passed away." Ms. Bailey of the SPCA, which handles animal control work in parts of Denton County, said she arrived to find Bull looking "comatose." She took him to the North Colony Animal Clinic where a veterinarian gave him pain medication and tried to cool him off. His temperature was 107 degrees – normal is about 101. Bull had several seizures and swelling in the brain. He later died at Collin County Emergency Animal Clinic, where he was euthanized. "He wanted the dog to stop barking. Most people would have let the dog back in," Ms. Edson said. "The wrong person got a hold of it." She said dogs cool down by panting because they don't sweat like humans. "When you shut that off, they overheat," she said. She cautioned pet owners to make sure their animals have plenty of water and shade in the summer. Don't leave them in a parked car to run errands, she said. Mr. Swift has several previous arrests since 1993, including convictions for theft, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and assault causing bodily injury, county records show.

Slappie, I'm sorry to hear about Fatcat. Its tough to lose whats been the one constant in your life for a long time. Ive been there and will probably be there again sometime in the next year or so. My 16 year old girl-cat, Coco, is fighting kidney problems. Give it a week or 2 and then run, dont walk, to the city animal shelter or SPCA. Honor the memory of Fatcat by making room in your house and heart for another deserving cat. Blue Skies Fatcat. Go find Bob and keep him company till I get there. He's the big white cat with the odd-eyes.

(((hugs))) to you and Graham. Im sorry for the loss of Sox. I'm fighting kidney failure on my old cat Coco. I give her a subcutaneous IV every night to help flush her out. As long as she tolerates it and still gets around like she does, I'll continue to do it. She's been my buddy for 15 years.

I use State Farm. Surprisingly theyre cheaper on big engine sport bikes.

Why skydivers are great! (the story of the lost ring)
SniperCJ replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
Now if somebody would just find my gold rope chain with St Christopher medal and crucifix lost at Skydive Dallas... Although to be fair, I most likely lost it on a jump and its in some field being threshed or combined or baled or.... JC -
I'd probably show the landing as far as I could before it went bad then fade in with a still shot from the freefall portion and fade to black.

Has anybody had their tongue switch (Conceptus) affected by high humidity? Last weekend I came down from 2 jumps with all my stills fired. Checked the switch and as soon as I pluged it in, it started firing shots. Tried a couple of different things and same result. Went to a backup switch and worked ok. When I got home I was packaging it up to send to Ed and plugged it in one last time to show my gf and it worked fine. Also, does anyone have a better e-mail for Ed at Conceptus. I mailed him Sunday and havnt heard from him. I'll probably just pack it up and include a note, cuz I cant trust the switch at this point. JC

As cool as some of the 'theme' bikes that OCC does, I really like Jesse James' bikes better. I take pride in knowing what a Jesse James Diablo was long before there was a Monster Garage. Shoulda bought one back then. Probably be worth more now... JC
