  1. Actually what is really scary is that they reallydo like eachother. Don't ask me why since I got the cat so the dog could have a moving toy.
  2. My cat's friggin crazy....you spend money on toys and kitty condos and catnip....and what does he like most...the book case and a pull-up cord. Although he still digs the catnip, sprinkled some on my dog, and spent a good 20 min laughing at the cat trying to Luv all over the dog.
  3. One of the girls at my DZ bought gear from him, and said his services was great. The only thing was instead of the lable on the side saying Saber (or whatever the canopy type was) it said Call Ralph with his phone number.
  4. Guess what, we even have a web page now. www.jumpergirl.com/ugn.html
  5. definately demo demo demo demo demo.... :-) talk to lots of people about canopies. Do some hop and pops so you can really concentrate on how you fly and flare the canopy. That is why I originally chose the safire, I had a tendency to flare deep, and that was the canopy that reacted best to it. Definately buy used though, cause I now have almost 300 jumps and am finally going to settle down with this new canopy.
  6. Well who ever said it, must have been right if you look at the stats. ---------------------------------------------- First let me say when I say landed hard I don't mean I pounded into the ground, the only landings like that where the 4 pilot chute over the noses that I had on student status. (The begining of the gear fear) I never trusted canopies to land me soft after that. -------------------------------------------------- Actually you have no idea how many times I heard well if you had a normal wingloading on that canopy it wouldn't land you so hard. I got a 1:1 wingloading and guess what......from the very first landing there never was that, heavy feeling in my knee when I landed (I have a bad knee from several old gymnastics injuries) so I would have to sit it down to avoid spraining that knee. All I ever heard was speed is your friend, the more speed you have the more flare power you have. I was pretty much grounded if the winds were over 15 mph so as you can tell I didn't have any speed which ment not alot of flare, heck I couldn't even come close to stalling my first 2 canopies. I spent 200 jumps hating the canopy ride, dreading it, cause I knew at the end it would be an exercise in protecting my knee from a hard landing. Then I decided to listen to the several instructors who were telling me to go down to 1:1 that once I had the flare power from the canopy I wasn't going to have any problems and could finally learn all aspects of the canopy. So I ordered a Safire 116 and well when the 116 (which happened to be a crossfire since someone messed up) arrived, guess what....great landings....damn when I flare the canopy actually flares what a concept this may be due to the fact it is elliptical though. I haven't flown anouther square since I got it. I still get the lingering gear fear every once in awhile where even though everything was done perfectly I sit down at the end. On the other hand I've been paying my dues, doing lots of hop and pops, working on this or that, different kinds of approaches, different kinds of conditions. I no longer hate the canopy ride, I love it, I love that feeling of the ground zipping past just inches under your feet. Plus, I'm finally able to learn my canopy, becuase this is the first canopy that the front riser preasure wasn't so heavy that I could quite litterly lift myself up in the harness. I will always think having someone as small as me under something as big as a 215 is a bad idea. I only wish I would have started skydiving 6 months later, cause then I would have learned out at Skydive Spaceland where I would have been jumping a Saber 150 on student status. I would have learned the correct skills from the start. btw....I already knew that my little butt under a 120 with a 1:1 WL is a bit faster than a person at 190 with a 1:1.
  7. I'm out at Skydive Houston in Waller. Come out some weekend I'll sick Derek on you, he'll have you swooping inches off the ground in no time.
  8. See that is what I thought, ok I have this really old 150 I know I'm going to downsize, so no big deal. After about 100 jumps yep I downsized to a 135, cool thought I would keep that for awhile...nope after about 70 jumps I went to a 116 which finally put me to a 1.1:1 wingloading....figured I'd stay there....nope after about 50 jumps I decided to go smaller....my 104 will be here last week of december / first week of January. So that will put me at a 1.3:1 wingloading, now I think I'm probably good to go, since I HATE running out landings. Ok since I'm probably going to get yelled at by people saying I downsized to fast. I have my own personal canopy coach who critiques every landing whether I want him to or not and he gave me 2 thumbs up on this last downsize.

    Dear Santa

Hey I think I recognise that plane..... =P
  10. I don't know....she was in the company of basically the entire DZ, and she was dancing on the table with another skydiver...I still have the pic from moments before she went "I need another beer" *fwap* kelli http://www.jumpergirl.com/susanbday/susanjane.JPG
  11. How about this one time at the DZ.... it was socked in and they rigged a base canopy up behind a truck and ground launched it and it's owner....now that actually made me nervous, landed fine. Or this one time at the DZ.....We were climbing the beacon and Brian M. fell off, only bruises and hurt pride. Or this other time, Susan was dancing on the table and fell off breaking her ankle. =P Ummm...Paula I think the old wharton gang could write a book on the stupid shit we did.....remember when Chuck was silly enough to bring a xerox machine out to the DZ..... Kelli
  12. The only rigs that I can think of where you "can't" check the reserve pin is reflex's and racers. I jump a mirage and it is easy to check the reserve pin without opening the flap all the way up. All you do is lift the bottom of it and you can see the pin without the side flaps coming undone. My boyfriends Micron is the same way. As for are they a pain to reclose if you undid the side flaps, yes they both are, but part of that is because they are very small containers with very tight reserve packjobs. On the other hand on my old reflex I would never let anyone give me a main pin check because they wouldn't tuck the tab back in right so it would end up coming open in freefall. I also know people who don't want you to touch their rig at all. I used to be one of them, due to the above. Now I don't care, check it if you want, just make sure all the bridal is tucked. Kelli
  13. *shrug* who knows.....I skydive, about the closest I get to a golf course is when I fly over it, or happen to land in it Of course there are those days when I have to run over to the club house to ummmm.....check out the "putters".
  14. Just remember when landing on a golf course, don't forget to yell FOUR!!!
  15. Why yes it would....Hmmm....I better get working on an official Ugly Chicks website. Now if I can only steal you away from the boys and bring you to the dark side. It's so cute watching them self-destruct without thier female leader.
  16. Paula come and jump at Waller then you can have an ugly chick number. I'm #1, Cyndi is #2, Tami says she is ugly chick #0, but I've yet to see her still considered cute butt up at Waller. I wish the weather would have been better on Sunday, it really would have been great to see you guys. Oh well quality snuggle time with Wonderboy is hard to come by so I'm not complaining to much.
  17. Have to agree with you there Dave, the weather in Houston Saturday was GREAT!!! Had a couple of really fun RW jumps, it's great when I can laugh at the big boys floating on me. (I'm 5'1 105lbs) As a bonus on Glens 100th I got to watch him get rodeoed towards the end of the dive, damn did he kick and squirm. Only semi bad dive I had was when we tried to launch a sitfly train and the pilot forgot to give a cut, guess who fell off the plane. I definitely haven't had that much fun in several weeks. Thanks Derek for organizing the RW jumps, and thanks Skydive Houston for the $12 jumps. As a side note for those of you who were out there jumping, they raised over $250 plus a ton of food for the Houston Food Bank. Way to go jumpers who donated!!! Kelli
  18. Don't forget Texas, although it is 57 and rainy today. Good thing it is only Tuesday. Saturday 12/1 Partly sunny High 66 Low 42 Sunday 12/2 Sunny High 63 Low 47 Kelli
  19. Wow....That is a new one. Personally never had anything close to that happen, how big is the pocket? How did you pack the slider, i.e. just quarter the slider or quarter it and pull the pockets out in front of the nose. Just wondering, my rigger is a huge advocate of pocket sliders on sabres and advises all of his clients to have them installed if they have a Sabre 150 or larger.
  20. Both my old sabers had them. Basically what it is, is a piece of ZP that is the width of the slider, folded in half and sewn to the front of the slider. Then it is either sewn in half or in thirds to make little pockets that catch air while the canopy is opening to slow it down. Both of my canopys had ~1000ft snivels, that can be adjusted by the size of the pockets. Kelli
  21. Quit whining woman and make a road trip....I used to come down there every weekend even though SSL was over an hour and SDH was only about 45....Come on, I mean when was the last time you got to see Aggies do stupid human tricks. Come up and join us.... Kelli
  22. hehehe.....but as they say, they will make you whatever you want in whatever size you want. Hence why I have a 104 on the way.
