I did the same thing, I didn't buy one until after I had my A in my grubby little hands, cause then I was a real skydiver. Actually up until that point I had several times where I almost quit due to skydives that scared the hell out of me. (huge student rig issues)

*open mirage mini-pack, find bottle hand 2...no wait 3 midol to skybytch* It's ok hunny, they will learn when they have to visit one of their friends in the hospital cause he downsized and hooked it in at a "swoop competition"

That is perfectly normal for a semi-elliptical semi-tapered or whatever they are calling that type of wings these days. What is happening is the first part of your flare is stoping your decent rate, the second part of your flare is what stops your forward speed. The key is to learn how to continue flying the canopy threw the 2nd part of the flare even though your feet are on the groud sliding. Depending on your wingloading and the winds this slide could be quite long or you may even have to run. Once you get used to it you won't ever want to go back to the canopies that just stoped when you started to flare, cause this one will be more forgiving on miss-timed flares until you get the feel of it down. Up high try different kinds of flares, ask rgoper, just the other weekend I was teasing him that he has a beautiful triathalon flare, only problem is, he was jumping a hornet So up high after you find the point that the canopy planes out at and get a muscle memory feel for it try hitting that point at different speeds like getting to it fast then slowly finishing out the bottom, then try getting to it slow, no matter how you do it, do it smooth not jerky. The guys here with alot of jumps on a hornet can tell you the technique that works for them such as, is it closer to a sabre flare or a safire flare (sabre - control range is high like shoulder level, safire - control range is low down around your waist), really it's just a matter of getting used to it and that will only time.

WOOHOO!!!!! I knew you would get that landing thing figured out if you didn't have so much to stress about on the skydive. Way to go girl, trust me you will be off that probation thing in no time.
-
Well actually I want to see if he can land that stiletto on the oil wrasslin mat, and of course you have to be nekkid to play on the mat.

She knows you have video surveillance, so she isn’t to worried about you not being able to keep up with her whereabouts.

Does this mean no more jumping naked?

Dave I think you are being stalked....TequilaGirl is out of town so you must be his new love interest.

300 jumps Manta 215 Sabre 170 Sabre 150 Sabre 135 Crossfire 116 Crossfire 108 (demo) Crossfire 104

Yeah, but you are going to get to jump. I think I'll stick with the $14 jumps, I can get 5 jumps for less than I can get 4 down there. Plus none of the stress.
-
You've already been in the Tequila haven't you?
-
yeah...it will be fun driving 2 hrs to have to turn around and drive back home.
-
Whatever you do, do not give her too much Tequila, there is a reason she is affectionately called TequilaGirl.
-
Hmmm...was already planning on ditching work, but seening as I think I'll be kicked off the DZ if I show up out at Spaceland after yesterday, I think I'll be going to Waller for $14 jumps

No you still will have the same number of cascade lines, they are just trimmed out differently. He can explain it better.

I'm bored so, really I'm not argueing with you ....... Anyway, I did a diagram of the steering lines I've had on all my canopies and all the safires I've seen come to Derek's place for the performance option. Crossfire 104 Crossfire 116 Sabre 135 Sabre 150 Sabre 170 Safire 109-189

Actually if you cut above that little ring you will be cutting the main part of the stearing line and will need the line from the brake setting to the cascades replaced. Not sure of the cost on this but could be upwards in the range of a repack depending on the rigger. On the other hand it still will be alot cheaper than if you toss your handles when you cutaway and have to replace them.

I do that up in Dallas in the winter, but we are talking about a blue healer, so if there was a shade tree or something along the road I would tie her to the car by it. Fox does have all the cool travel stuff, but with no shade it's a no go. Leaving her in the car at night isn't an issues, but during the day it's just to hot and cramped.

oops forgot the attachment

Are you talking about the malfunction that I had a little over a year ago? In that case the toggle wasn't actually stuck, what happened was the grommet tore threw the to top of the of the material that makes the top tab and the brake setting snagged under it. Due to tension on the line was unable to clear the line from under the piece of matrial. As you probably remember from that day, I chose to chop it. Ok excuse my poor drawing skills, but I've attached what my toggles looked like. Also these were Javalin risers and toggles, and the other toggle is normal, so it looks like this one was just defective.
-
Hey thanks so much, that was exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks, My corporate office is outside of Boulder so I probably won't make it south of Denver, and well I'm a turbine slut, so I will definately have to check out Brush if I have the time, but since I'll be like 15 min from Mile-hi I'll have to check them out to, although if it is a tandem factory I might end up jumping by my cute little self.

You know what is going to be really fun is the fact that going there will make it feel like I've downsized again....woo hoo....or ummm...maybe I should say....oh shit.
