You would be surprised how pissed some people get when you point out something wrong with a rig. Case in point, we were at Lost Prairie and Derek and I were going to do a 2 way sit fly. Well as everyone was going to the door he saw a girl with either her reserve handle or cut away handle folded under her main lift webbing. (sorry I can't remember) She had a tight rig like I do and he had her grabbed so it was fixed. Well when I got to the ground some old timer who claimed he had been in the sport 20 years said that Derek was some yahoo who didn't know anything and cause of him their exit went to shit. Then he proceded to pat me on the head and tell me that he has been in the sport long enough to know that those thing fix themselves in the air. I then told him attitudes like that are dangerous, and since he is so confident in his assisment of the issue that there was Derek and I'm possitive that he would like to know that what he did was the wrong thing. Of course the guy hauled ass away, cause it sure is easier to spout of to some chick than some guy who will definately tell you what is what. Fly it like you stole it!

I bought the professional version for Derek last year for X-mas, it is very sweet. He has been using it to practice his IFR stuff so when he flies with the instructor he is very familiar with everything. He of course now wants me to buy him the pedals for the floor so he can do the rudder. Fly it like you stole it!

Well I'm a wee chicky and averaging 150 in a sit, faster or slower depending who I'm jumping with. Actually did one about 160 on Sunday so the guy I was jumping with could go head down with me. 3 loads kicked off so a "good friend" could get on:4:0 Was to be on 3 different belly dives when I was either kicked off so "so-n-so" could jump with them cause they hadn't seen her or him in forever or told they didn't think I would be able to do it since the only spot left was a later diver slot.....f**kers I was the last diver out on a 30+ way I don't think a 10 way is that much of a stretch of the imagination. Oh well hooked up with a freefly (he flies to Perris once a month to jump cause he doesn't like the vibes here either) and ended up having some sweet dives. So I still officially hate colorado, hmmm...must be why Derek and I are blowing off the Colorado state record but willing to drive to other states to help out there. Fly it like you stole it!

To be honest I was never able to use frontrisers on any canopy until I went elliptical. On my Sabre 135 if I pulled down on both of them doing a pull up I could do it but that was about it. I weight ~120-135 out the door (depends on lead) and I'm jumping a crossfire 104 loaded at 1.2-1.3. I have no problem pulling down a front riser for a full 360 but that is pretty much it after that I'm not strong enough to do any thing else. Other than that the only other canopy I was able to do front riser turns was a cobalt. So depending on her skill level she may want to try one of those. Or do like I did and wait to learn that part of canopy control until she is ready to demo both those canopies. Fly it like you stole it!

Well really you just need to demo. Every person is different and likes different things in a canopy. With all the choices out there I'm sure every canopy could be represented here by the large amount of people from all over the world that post here. Do some searches on the forums you will find people saying everything from tri's to VXs are the hottest thing since sliced bread. Read what they posted in other threads and from there figure out the characteristics that you want and after a long talk with those at your DZ that know how you fly start demoing. Hmmm...you know I had a few friends in HS with their own phone line, but all of them had to pay for it themselves. I wasn't allowed to have my own phone line, but I did get to have a phone in my room.....well only after I bought it for myself. Same thing if I wanted a TV in my room, which I never had until I got to college and bought one for myself. Guess what that is the TV that is still sitting in my living room. I had a co-worker who was in his 30s and had a 15 yr old daughter she had a cellphone, but she wasn't allowed to have an unlimited one, she had a prepay one and had to buy the minutes herself with her babysitting money. You know a cellphone may not be such a bad idea especially the prepay kind, it may actually help teach him about money and how to be more responsible. Well that is if he pays for it, but it sounds like she will be paying the bill. Fly it like you stole it!
