It is more about the TYPE than the brand. A 7 cell, low aspect ratio, F111 canopy (that is normally smaller than your normal canopy) is not going to fly the same as your main. If you don't know how it does fly... You could easily stall it. Many of us flew 7 cell F111's as mains, so we know how they fly. Those that have only ever jumped ZP 9 cells do not know how to fly the F111 7cells and might stall them. Chris... My facts are good, I think you misunderstood my post. He basically asked, 'why have P3 when the WT has been doing these events so well in the past'. My answer was why would you have a team like Fury when Airspeed has been doing so well. The second paragraph, "People think they can do better in some way, or just think they want to give it a try. Why not let them?" Explains it completely. Just like Fury thinks they can win and represent the US well... P3 thinks they can provide a bigway service. So both DO instead of just allowing the status quo to continue. I can understand your confusion.... But the second paragraph should have made it clearer. For the record: 1. I am a free market kinda guy... I SUPPORT competition since it brings prices down. 2. The additional frequency of camps and the splitting of the 'talent' will allow new people to get the skills needed. Sorry for the confusion. I am an AFFI and have many hours in the tunnel as a flier and as a coach. I used to teach a military program that consisted of about 15 mins of tunnel and then we would START at single JM AFF L4. So, being an instructor that has instructed normal AFF and been an instructor that has taught tunnel/AFF, I can't agree with those that say that tunnel is wasted before you have some jumps. The students I had that spent 15 mins in the tunnel normally did MUCH better than the students that had no tunnel and went to AFF L1. For example... there is NO WAY I would take a first timer on a L4 but I have no issue taking a person that has shown the basic skills in a tunnel on a L4. ANY amount of time will help. It will help cut down on the sensory overload if you are familiar already... Same reason a Tandem can be a good place to start. 10-15 mins should be all you need to have no problem with AFF. Why have Perris Fury when Airspeed has been doing so well? People think they can do better in some way, or just think they want to give it a try. Why not let them? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Congratulations on knowing what it meant. You think a mod jumping a guys ass for asking a simple question for clarification was the correct course of action? The question was a simple request for clarification . The "W" could have been an indication of location (what I thought) or it could have been a brand name, etc..... Got one thanks... You might want to look into getting one since you felt some need to drum up a two mth old thread to add an insult when I didn't reply to you last time. I guess you also lie to make yourself look better. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Hey, I signed you fucking team room.... Back off monkey. BTW, I'll be back next mth.... Have the natty light chilled. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Dude.... I was confused at first as well.... Might want to step back a bit. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

One time at Zhills a guy with 60 jumps was bitching to me about how the DZ suggested that he not jump due to the winds. They guy that suggested he sit down have 8k jumps and at the time I had 2k and we both were sitting down. He said, "When will people quit treating me like a damn student!!!" I said, "When you quit acting like a damn student." "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Yet you don't seem to be up in arms about repealing the pull limits that are pretty much only based on jump numbers. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Of course..... that is until your actions risk MY life. Collisions are on the rise. Do you feel the same way about min pull altitudes? Wind speeds? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You somehow think I don't coach? The difference is some listen and some ignore. With your last canopy, could you land it 10 times out of 10 in a 10m circle standing up? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Most will not listen. Hence the old "blood on the street" method. People like to think they are better than average. Just read "Stiletto as a student canopy" to see one guy try to claim he knows better than everyone else. It is... He didn't land in the clear area. The problem is that a HP canopy's idea of "slow" is still fast. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Pit.... Made for the smaller person. Get the booties.... You can always not use them till you are ready, but then it would suck to have to buy another suit. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Pick a new aspect of the sport. Get a wingsuit, learn to freefly, get an instructor rating, join a team. If that does not work, pick up another hobby and spend some time doing it. If skydiving is all you do, it can be pretty easy to burn out. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

1. Not everyone shares your particular view of what number is important. 2. A profile is not a logbook. 3. Because after a while it no longer matters is you have 4k or 4.5k jumps. When you have 10 jumps, each single jump seems important. When you have 100 jumps, each block of 10 seems important. When you have 500 jumps, each block of 50 seems important. When you have 1000 jumps, each block of 100 seems important. When you have a few thousand, each block of 500 seems important. When you have several thousand, each block of 1k seems important. What deployment method do you have on your primary sport rig?
Ron replied to DocPop's topic in Gear and Rigging
L - R: Kenny Backus, Chuck Backus and I don't know the other two.... Kenny, Chuck and I were on a 4 way rotations team in Zhills in 96 till Chuck and his GF broke up and we were down to a three way team. You can also roll slightly left and it will make it easier. But all said and done, I prefer a pull out. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
You keep saying you are going to stop posting... Yet you keep posting. You just can't help it that people who know more than you just don't agree with you. I have 41 times your experience.... Average about 300 jumps a year which is three times your currency. Who is the idiot again? Something you should REALLY consider yourself. Sure you are... You are crying that we don't get that you know what you are doing. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
