Been done before....Its called luck The ground works well for "Final stage deceleration" Actually this has sort of been done. A guy did a freefall from I want to say 300 feet out of a helicopter into a BIG airbag. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
FAA question: Can a private pilot fly a jump plane?
Ron replied to skydivingdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No. If anyone is making money its illegal. If no one made money...you could most likley do it. However the FAA has said that flight time IS compensation....So they could still get you. But if people are paying to jump...Its illegal as hell. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -

Remove any mention of skydiving...... To some it might make you look cool. But most are going to think you are crazy and undependable. I would not even have the "professional Arial Photographer" part in there.... I would put profession photographer, but I would not mention skydiving or any other high risk activity. In the Us you are not "required" to join the USPA to skydive. Only at a USPA member DZ. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I think if you see anyone doing something stupid you should bring it up...Bodies on the DZ suck. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I have seen way more Z1's flip open...Were these guys freeflying or doing RW? I have no idea which is better for Freeflyers. The Z1 seems to flip open more after "incidental" contact doing RW...The button is right in the front and gets pushed down releasing the visor.. Like I said if these guys are freeflying I have no idea. Most freefliers I know wear an factory diver and goggles or some "half" helmet with a bunch of cameras on them Almost ANY helmet will be good for the average jumper. Most jumpers don't need a 400.00 carbon fibre jet pilot helmet with the gold trim....They don't protect THAT much more. A flip up visor is a good saftey feature in my opinion, but I never flip it up unless I have to, and that saves wear on the helemt and prevents it from opening on accident. Uh Clinton, unless youhave other info. Which THEY still passed. Everyone does it...But that does not mean that THIS is more than tripe. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

OK a few problems: The ban was put in place durring CLINTONS shift in the white house. BUSH did that? CONGRESS did that. Soldiers weer on food stamps before Bush took office, and before Clinton took office, and before Reagan took office...Notice the trend? I know that while I served (Under both CLinton, and Bush) I got more pay raises from Bush than Clinton. Which is the SAME thing that happens when you are active duty. The SAME, trust me , I know. Just more liberal spin and BS. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Thats only di to your high and mighty position. Which now seems to be wrong. Funny huh? You were so sure, and now you admit you could be wrong? But you sure seemed to be against me when I thought they were justified. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Any full face will do you well. I used an Arrow head years ago with contacts for like 500 jumps and had no problem. (Not sure they are even made anymore) Used a Factory diver for well over 1500 jumps with out a single problem. Now I have an Oxygen...But also LASIK...But still I have never had a problem... I have seen Z1's flip open more than Oxygens. If you can afford it get a flip up....But don't flip it up unless you need to. This saves wear on the device that holds it down...Most times when a visor flips up its due to the latches being worn out... I only flip up my visor if it gets fogged while under canopy. Its an added saftey device. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Agreed... And All I was trying to get you to admit was this. It is clearly a leadership issue. I don't disagree with the 'jubilations'...I'd be glad to be alive as well. But you also wrote "What we SEE" But what about what we don't see? There is always outside issues to be looked at...and I don't think I would take the medias version of ANY event. Was it wrong to shoot the guy? Yes. Was it understandable? Yes. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You could always ASK them to be more civil...But my point is that its not that easy in the middle of a battle to go from killer to nurse. Even more difficult when the paitent was trying to kill you seconds ago. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Only in military TACTICAL matters...Such as shooting a guy that was just trying to kill me and my team. Now I don't listen to my Army voice when skydiving...I listen to my Skydiving inner voice. did I bring up WW2? Nope....Drunkmonkey did. However, I would listen to a WW2 vet's opinion about this with more credablitity than someone who has not served, or a politican any day. My comment on this thread have been about the TACTICAL situation, not the political situation....When I have to choose, I would rather our troops be safe and alive, than right and dead. Europe, the UN ec ha d achance to back up what they voted for...they didn't. As for them stepping in now...Sure as long as they are willing to HELP, not just continue to damn the US and everything the US does. Can you help without making the US out to be a bad guy? Sure then help..But everything you have typed so far is just against the US. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Un Rhino and myslef both served in the US armed forces...So while we may be has beens...We were at least HAS beens...not like you never beens. Yeah it does give us more insite....Just like a guy with more freefly expereience than me has a better understanding of a freefly video, a guy that has military experience is better qualified to understand a military oporation than a guy that gets his military knowledge from watching "Gomer Pyle USMC" on Nick at night. Funny, but combat arms when in uniform you normally don't wear undies...Hence the term "Going Comando". And you get on people nerves defending anyone BUT the US. No, Im not always right...But given the choice of listening to a guy with no military exp, and an ax to grind for the US..And guys that HAVE military training...Well Im gonna side with the guys with EXPERIENCE. Same thing in skydiving...If it relates to skydiving, I'm gonna listen to the guy with more EXPERIENCE, before I listen to a guy with 100 jumps or a guy just off of AFF. See if a guy with 10000 jumps says something I tend to listen...If an SF guy comes on here and tells me something about the military I tend to listen... You don't listen to anyone. Thats the big difference between us... "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You were doing so well... Then this: No, my point is that 19 year olds in life or death situations are going to do things as they see fit at that time...And that Chair Borne Rangers like yourself who have never been in that situation could never understand. After you have your first close call skydiving...Tell me if you can calmly talk about it....I doubt it. These kids are in life or death situations, well armed, trained to kill, pissed off, and scared for their lives. While I don't agree with the actions...I can understand them. You clearly can't. Funny how all the guys WITH military exp can understand, and all the guys whos only training are the "Delta Force" movies can't.....Seems to me that the guys who have been in the military understand better than you do. Here is where you really lose it....So it was OK before? The same act, performed the same way, at the same place...But since you didn't approve of it this time its wrong? Thats two sided as hell. I think it the texts don't show SH as a God like they used to...SH basicly wrote the history books...They were filled with him doing things he never did. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
