I can see that, but I think that as time goes forward, unless people hold a grudge, differences become less important, or even dissapear. Problem that *does* happen. My boss just took a job in Tx. His peers are: 1. Black Male 2. Black Male 3. White Male 4.White Male 5. ? Male. (I think White, but don't really know...All I have even done is email him). Now my boss's job is open....His boss (Black Male) has said he needs to hire a female to have "balance" according to HR. So the first round of interviews EVERY female that puts in a packet will get interviewed, but not all males....Is that fair? OK, but my point was not to start anything, but to point out that while reqular jumpers *can* do something, it does not mean it is a good idea. And that riggers and manufacturers have a responsibility to not recomend potentially unsafe set ups. A reqular jumper can tell a person its OK to deploy at 1500 feet...And in some cases it is, and might even be safer, than a higher pull. However, an S&TA or Instructor will not say so. Knowing this he will have a better understanding of why some jumpers are telling him he will be fine, when people who have a much larger stake in his saftey are telling him he will not. Well, two things: 1. Your rigger and the manufacturer have to follow the law, Joe-bob skydiver does not. 2. Some people don't know, or don't know the whole story.
