  1. Well Sally is one of my best friends, and Jamie is another. Plus they are the current top dogs. But I am REALLY impressed with the level of teams out on that coast right now. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  2. Do you let you cat run around? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. Lets look at that again shall we? You said, "Call animal control" I asked,"What do you think animal control will do?" YOU THEN SAID,"I don't know... maybe put it down in a humane way?" I fail to see how the sentance :"I don't know... maybe put it down in a humane way?" Can be taken any other way. Maybe you should check what you wrote to the question I asked before you try and jump my shit huh? 4. So you would rather kill the cat than pop it with a pellet? You would rather the cat be dead? I hate it when people let their animals run around outside. I have never shot a cat, but I have sprayed water on them to keep them out of my yard before. Just because YOU love it, don't expect ME to love it. I find it odd you would rather the cat be dead. They take the remaining rounds and mix only them up and redraw them. If a block or random has already been done it will not be done in the remaining rounds. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  8. See if they risk someone else safety, you ground them. It they risk their own only, then you talk to them. When they don't listen, you try to get someone else to talk to them. When they don't listen you get the DZO, or S&TA to talk to them. When they don't listen you either try to shock them, or you ground them. If you ground them, they just go die somewhere else. If you shock them they might survive. Its not DGIT of the year....You can have multiple "winners" in a year (Although not the same guy of course). But sometimes the best you can do is warn, then watch the carnage....Might as well have a beer. Its not like the pots are ever really much. And the one bingo I played in there was never really any money collected. We did it for the shock value of an ego manic. This JACKASS follwed me out with a student WITHOUT ASKING, he then docked on us, and funneled the student. I had to punch hi in the face to make him let go. I was just flat out gonna kick his ass when he landed....But the S&TA had a better idea and made a chart with this guys name on it....He walked up to this jackass and asked him, "Hey we are taking a bounce bingo on you, want in, its only 5 bucks a slot?...Oh wait, not really something you want in on. No point really". He left, it worked. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. I was B co. 2/325. Member of the 82d ff team. It is part of the "black death" aspect of the sport. It is not a very forgiving sport, and while we may focus on safety we can never forget the ground is waiting to kill. Some people forget that and their ego tells them they are not at risk. This list is a way to smack them back into reality. They is something quite surreal about someone telling you they think YOU will die. You can blow a single person off when they say it "They don't like me", "They are jelious", "There pissed cause I am sleeping with their girl friend". But when an ENTIRE DZ says you are gonna die...Well most people realize that there is more to it than personal issues. For some it takes that much. And NOONE gets on this kind of list if they listen. Its only when they think they know it all and its used as a last resort. Now there is a black death humor part of this sport. "Get in or go in" "Blue Skies, Black Death" "He bounced" People with nicknames like "Divot, Crash, Hell the DZM of Skydive City's real name is David...TK stands for "Tent Killer." It is a part of this sport. In the Army we had such wonderful things as "Blood on the risers", "Kill, kill, kill with the cold blue steel", "Blood, blood, blood makes the green grass grow", "Napalm sticks to kids". I bet you said all of these and more. Each of these were ways to KILL. Not just sit and watch a guy who is stupid die...But to KILL. And I am sure you said them. Why is that better? No one wants someone to get hurt. But if they are gonna be really stupid and not listen....Sometimes they have to learn from being hurt....MAYBE knowing that everyone thinks they are a saftey risk will keep them from doingt he stupid things. If not, I hope the person who picked them buys beer. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  10. Not a troll. The Ranch is a perfectly safe palce if you are willing to listen to advice. I assume you were 325? Ever hear the 82d sing "Blood on the Risers"? Do you think that act makes the 82d unsafe? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. Someone PLEASE put tape on all four sides and let me know what happens. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  12. If you are ON the list it says tons about you. It says that you do stupid things, but blame others and don't listen. BTW get a dictionary...sadomasochism is getting pleasure from physical or emotional abuse, not blaming yourself. Nope, but if you start crying about something you should be willing to stand up to the questions you are gonna get about it. If someone told me I was a DGIT I'd want to know why, not cry about it. Maybe depends on the state you live in.....But by crying about it you are not going to make any friends. Hurting someone on purpose is illegal no matter what. 1. Stop being a DGIT. 2. Stop crying about it. Living would be the best revenge...(See #1 above) If you don't like the place, don't jump there. If I didn't trust my gear on the mat, I'd never leave it unattended....I'd really just find a new DZ. Ah, we answered your question. YOU didn't like the answers. No need, most of us that have been around know the game. Well, if 99 out of 100 don't mind it...Then its just YOUR reaction that is not in tune with the DZ. Posts like this don't help: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1623213#1623213 Anyone notice that the new folks don't understand this at all? 13. Thats the "black death" aspect of the sport. We also call them DGIT (Dead Guy In Training). Instead of finding out if it is illegal (I can only assume so you can call the police). I'd spend my time trying to fiqure a way off that list. The #1 way to get on that list is to make choices based on ego, not experience, and not listening to those who tell you something is a bad idea. I'd work to get off the list, not calling the law. 14. Well when two lowtimers go jump its hard to say who did what. The lack of a good reference (In the tunnel you have walls and a floor all around you) makes it difficult to say who did what. I would not put to much weight in the words of another lowtimer....If the person telling you was a coach, then maybe. But two relative lowtimers maybe not. The fact you had awareness enough to "motion for them to come closer" makes me think you have enough awareness to stick out your legs and not slide all over. Make a jump with a guy you know is good...That right there will let you know what the deal is. Don't get frustrated and blame yourself so quick. It sounds like it could be the other person, not you. The only way to find out is to jump with someone who you know knows what is going on. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  15. Not that big of a difference. I have over 100 hours of tunnel, about 6 wearing a rig, and 3600 jumps. The differences are very small and they go away if you wear a rig in the tunnel. MOST people will not really notice the difference, other than weight. A rig is weight that pushes your upper body down. So it is much easier to sit up in the tunnel. A rig is weight located on the top of your back...So when moving there is a torquing motion on your roll axis on both the start and the stop. The added weight also requires more input to start and stop the mass. A rig will restrict your ability to bend and flex...I can do moves in the tunnel without a rig due to this (I could also do the same moves in freefall...But I would not live to tell about them). As for back sliding....The tunnel will not let you backside more than a few feet before you meet up with a nice solid wall. You are less likely to back slide in the tunnel since you have reference points all around you. Also the weight of a rig in freefall will pitch your body *forward* due to the weight. So it is not likely to cause a backslide. Joey and I were talking about this yesturday. Air is air. And you fly your body in the air. The air does not care if you are falling, or it is being pushed, or pulled, at you...(there are some differences such as turbulance, but again not enough to make a big deal). The difference is the weight, the restriction of the rig, and your lack of visual clues all around you. 16. Really? I have 3600 jumps.....6 mals and not ONE premature reserve ride. Most of those 3600 jumps were on handles. My malfunction ratio is 1:600 My premature ratio is 0:3600 If you ask around you will see that more people have had mals than prematures. Having said that...My new rig has a pad...Why? It came with it, and I didn't bother to change it. I am actually thinking of getting a handle for it STILL. When low, fast, and a few seconds left till I die, I'd rather be looking for a metal handle. 19. I know people with almost 1,000 jumps that still land like shit. You want to be able to flair the canopy? Well its bigger so it is going to take more muscle...Tricep extensions, do them. You want a short list of the dumb things I have done? * Climbed out with my chest strap routed incorrectly. * Pulled sub 1,000 feet because I was a dumb ass trying to video my buddy on his 300th jump. * Hooked it in. I could go on. Get over it, humans make mistakes. Not trying to talk you into or out of the sport....But most things are fixable. 20. In this pic...its a Z1 that is open. I have never had my Oxygen open. http://www.tonyhathaway.com/fotoserv/preview_large.php4?event=200Published_Photos&image=USPA-calendar-02.jpg I had contacts...And I lost a bumch of them when I wore goggles. I got a fullface around jump number 100, and in the last 3500 jumps I have never lost one since. I'd get a fullface. BTW I had LASIK done (Thanks taxpayers) and it was one of the best things I have ever done. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  22. So you don't consider 7lbs per hp to be High Performance? 03 Ninja 250 - 33hp/305 pounds. 15 pounds per HP. So which is safer? And what I am saying that Stiletto is not as HP as the Velocity, a 600cc motorcycle with a 7 pound per hp ratio is STILL high performance even if there are more hp bikes out there. The fact that a 7 pound per hp bike is not *as* high performance does not mean it is NOT HP. And thats the point. You need to look at the performance of the bike/canopy, not in relation to anything else....Just because a new bike might be more powerful, that does not mean that the other bike is still not highperformance. 23. Basic math. If you have 2,242 people and 25,183 you can only compare RATE, not total number. Thats basic math and I suck at math. So with an increase of over 4 times the population the rate went down. The year after it went into effect the rate went down. You can't compare raw numbers with two different sources. 24. I don't think you do. You are using the old "A Stiletto is not a HP canopy argument". Which is BS. The laws of physics have not changed to make a 600 cc bike or a Stiletto LESS high performance....The subject of the post was people who pick things based on ego...Bike or Canopy.
